Seviper @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Infiltrator
Tera Type: Dark/Poison
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Poison Jab
- Sucker Punch/Knock Off/Crunch
- Trailblaze
- Earthquake/Aqua Tail

Seviper will struggle as a member of a regular HO team due to its bad defenses and mediocre speed, but it can come in handy at times. Seviper’s Poison typing can be useful as it allows top Seviper to clear Toxic Spikes and easily beat up common Pokémon weak to Poison. Infiltrator is used in this set as it lets Seviper hit foes without the slightest worrying about Substitutes or Screens. Poison Jab is a very good STAB move that’s also physical, and it’s chance of poisoning can chip away opponents’ health. Sucker Punch is good coverage against Psychic-types that may threaten Seviper, but Sucker Punch can also be replaced by Knock Off (to remove opponents’ items) or Crunch (to lower opponents’ physical defense), despite Sucker Punch being a priority move. Trailblaze can help against Water-types and can raise Seviper’s speed from mediocre to sort of sweep-ready. And for the final move, you can choose either Earthquake (which may be useful against other Poison-types, Steel-Types (but see C&C section below) and Rock-Types) or Aqua Tail (useful against Ground-types, despite Ground-toes being a check and counter). Choice Scarf this set’s obvious item. Seviper still doesn’t have much sweeping potential still.

Checks and Counters

  • Ground-types: Since Seviper’s a Poison-type, it’s obviously gonna have trouble against Ground-types, even if Seviper has Trailblaze and/or Aqua Tail
  • Physical Walls: This Seviper set is physical, so it has a hard time against physically bulky mons. If Seviper wants to sweep physical walls, it needs to use a special set (The creator might make a special set as well!)
  • Steel-Types: While this set can run Earthquake, if you chose Poison Jab before a Steel-type comes and you don’t switch, Seviper is gonna struggle unless it switches out
  • Faster Sweepers: Like mentioned before, Seviper has mediocre speed, so faster threats can come in and revenge kill the Fang Snake if it doesn’t switch.
Overall, Seviper won’t really be useful in most HO teams, but unless you can’t or don’t feel like using a good HO Poison-type, Seviper’s your choice. This set isn’t the best for Seviper, but it’s a set for physical Sevipers.
