OU/BL/UU Team with Favorites Pokémans

Strategy
Having fun during small tournaments with friends. Not using the most powerful Pokémans outthere but more like personal favorites and UU Pokémon with simular movesets as the OU ones.

Main goal is winning, ofcourse. Always trying to bounce of Stealth Rock and any indirect damage with Clefable and to wipe out the opponents with my trusty Gengar lead team (wish most likely is the team below). I lack alot of counters and a real Physical DD. Team is mainly focused on Sp. Sweeping.

Got some Pokémans I am thinking about replacing because they are mainly in the team because of there higher level and don't have a solid replacement with a coolness factor.

Side-note:
Not all Pokémans are Lv100. Level range is between lv55 and lv75 but still gaining

Team:
dpmfa094.png

Gengar @ Spooky Plate
Ability: Levitate
EVs: none [Stats: 133 133 194 113 194]
Nature: Docile
- Shadow Ball
- Destiny Bond
- Shadow Punch
- Dark Pulse

Basic non-TM set. Destiny Bond saved my butt some times against Garchomp lead teams. Fails on Weavile tho. Shadow Punch needs a good STAB replacement might, am thinking about Toxic/Sludge Bomb

dpmfa405.png

Luxray @ Magnet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: none [Stats: 191 144 143 141 119]
Nature: Relaxed
- Thunder Fang
- Thunder
- Discharge
- Crunch

Non-TM set which deals good damge. Thunder lacks accurancy and might need replacement although it hits hard. Crunch is there to damage the Psycho/Fighter types. Thunder Fang and Discharge give good protection against incoming Birds and Water Pokémans.

dpmfa065.png

Alakazam @ Mind Plate
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: none [Stats: 113 100 205 112 178]
Nature: Brave
- Psybeam
- Confusion (possible Energy Ball)
- Psychic
- Psycho Cut

Nothing to say about. Psycho Cut is a Physical with STAB bonus. Psychic and Psybeam work well against all Bug/Ghost/Fighter types. Confusion is a left over of the leveling curve and couldn't see anything other then Energy Ball to replace it with.

dpmfa036.png

Clefable @ none
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: none [Stats: 84 105 104 116 90]
Nature: Calm
- Meteor Mash (-> Softboiled)
- Moonlight
- Reflect
- Metronome (-> Thunder Wave)

Blissey On Weightloss wannabee. The moveset is almost identical to the Blissey On Weightloss but don't wanna be predicitable so made my own lil' adjustment with Moonlight to keep the HP up.

dpmfa395.png

Empoleon @ Scope Lens
Ability: Torrent
EVs: none [Stats: 147 152 156 135 115]
Nature: Naughty
- Aqua Jet
- Drill Peck
- Hydro Pump
- Avalance

Drill Peck does the job against Bugs. Both Aqua Jet and Hydro Pump give me good Water-damage to any Fire type. I choosed Hydro Pump over Surf just because of the fact I don't have to use Hydro Pump more then 5 times. Avalance is the only Dragon Counter my team has at the moment and with Empoleon at 1/2 it still isn't the best move in the book.

dpmfa389.png

Torterra @ Rose Insence
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: none [Stats: 152 153 121 147 95]
Nature: Gentle
- Earthquake
- Razor Leaf
- Leaf Storm
- Crunch

Crunch is there to damage the Psycho/Fighter types. Earthquake to damage Tyranitar, Infernape and anything that has there feet on the Ground. Razor Leaf and Leaf Storm both deal perfect damage toward all Water types and Rock types.

Known weaknesses
Alot... During last tournament I participated in Avalance did some good damage on Garchomp but wasn't effective enough to kill with my Empoleon at 1/2 HP. I got 0,0 counters for Heracross, Sneasel and Bronzong.

Own thoughts on replacing
Replace Luxray with an Electrivire* Fire Punch (Bronzong and any Water/Bird-type Counter)
Replace Empoleon with a Slowbro/Slowking with Ice Beam and Focus Punch/Flamethrower (Dragon/Bronzong Counter)
Replace Torterra with a Tyranitar* with Earthquake and Crunch (Fighter/Psycho Counter)

* Or nice Pokéman which isn't OU can do the job aswell for Coolness Factor.

------
Tournament rules I play with:

- Hold Items allowed (no Potions, X-Items etc.)
- No Ubers (All legends + Wobbuffet)
- All clauses in effect
- Last Pokémon can't use Perish Song/Explosion
- Double Team isn't allowed

I like how your team is balanced type-wise, but your pokemon need more diverse moves. look at some of the pokedex strategies of your pokemon.

Something i have learned with torterra, is that u might want to try choice scarf to help him get that first hit. If you don't like that, give him something that will help him stay alive, like a yache berry

Clefable wants Softboiled. Metronome is really unreliable and Meteor Mash on Clefable is trash. Look at the Pokédex for better moves.

This looks like an ingame team, in which case you should post what you intend to acheive. Brave Alakazam spells failure. Give Clefable Leftovers, I think you find them in the new part of Victory Road.

If you want to win, you need to plan out what you need to acheive and gather all the needed materials to do that. If it means buying another cartridge or raising some good Pokémon for a nice item in the item trade thread than you need to do that. I see a lack of planning in this team (four psychic moves on 'Zam?) and you really need to plan stuff, and that's what the strategy Pokédex is made for.

But it's very diverse type-wise. Good job on that. =D

Pokefreakman;
I tried Quick Claw on Torterra and it failed horribly. I will try Choice Scarf. I always have second thoughts about Torterra because it isn't any favorite of mine but just the only bulky Grass-type I got. But at this moment I am unable to transfer my Venusaur from FR because I won't be able to complete my hunt for the Legendary-Birds that way.

Acredula;
Clefable is gonna be a 'Blissey On Weightloss' so it's getting Softboiled instead of Meteor Mash and Thunder Wave instead of Metronome. Paralyze the opponent to let it deal less damage.

Yes this is my in-game team which I am playing with in and at arround Stark Mountain to gain exp and catch some nice Pokémons I doesn't have in my Pokédex yet.

The 4x Phychic moveset of Alakazam is bad indeed. I noticed I never ever use Confusion since I got Psybeam and Psychic. I am planning on replacing it with Energy Ball or a Punch, like Ice Punch, to counter some Dragon-types.

Having all types in my party is something I do since the good ol' Pokémon Red on my Classic Gameboy, never changed it throught the years.

No, replace Meteor Mash for something like Ice Beam or Grass Knot, and Moonlight for Softboiled.

'Zam wants the following:

Alakazam @ Choice Specs
Modest/Timid (+ Sp. Atk, - Atk)/(+ Spd, - Atk)
Synchronize
EVs: 4 Hp, 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Spd

~ Psychic
~ Shadow Ball
~ Energy Ball
~ Trick

This is probably the most diverse set you get. If weavile switches in you'd be dead even if you did use Focus Blast, so go with Shadow Ball. Trick Specs is amazing: switch in on a physical stat upper (Swords Dance Heracross, DDMence, the posibilities are endless) and trick Choice Specs onto them. Or you can do it on something like a wall or utility Pokémon (Blissey, Cresselia, etc.).

I don't think you understand the purpose of this site. If you want a team for fighting friends or ingame rated, go to Serebii or Marriland. Smogon is ment for teams that are geared towards competitive fights, this obviously isn't.

Anyways, you can turn this team into something more fairly easily, in addition to advice, EV all of your pokemon or you will be rocked at any tourney you participate in. General spread EVing isn't even that hard honestly, just get something with pokerus in a wifi trade and spread it, feed your pokemon vitamins until it hits the cap, then just kill what you need:

Gengar: Shadow punch is bad on a special sweeper. Go read the Smogon strategy pokedex for a better set. You've got terrible coverage and if I remember correctly Gengar's standard set doesn't need any unique TMs, Focus Blast, Thunder Bolt, Shadow Ball, and Hypnosis. Spooky plate is a mediocre item, at least get him wise glasses or a life orb, even an expert belt would do ok with the standard set.

Luxray: First off, horrible moveset, that's three offensive electric moves! This is obviously an ingame luxray, you need to change the moveset up. At least check out what Hidden Power Luxray has and see if you have a decent one like Fighting or Ice and give him that. Dump thunder and discharge. Personally, I think you should dump it altogether, and not necessarily for an electivire. A solid bulky sweeper such as Bulkydos would serve you well. Bulkydos is really a terror in the non emulated metagame even though it is a bit difficult to EV because its best counters are more difficult to obtain, after one dragon dance he's like a faster SD garchomp and much easier to obtain and train.

Alakazam: Dump him, I won't even comment on the moveset because I think you know what's wrong here and the standard set has been suggested already. Gengar fills essentially the same role and is better if you can get him Hypnosis. I'd suggest a strong mixed sweeper such as Lucario or Infernape here. Both of them rape bronzong so you won't need to put stuff anywhere else for him.

Clefable: If you're dumping Meteor Mash for softboiled dump moonlight. You need an offensive move, so I suggest facade over moonlight. Get Clefable a toxic orb so it can absorb status and gets the boost for facade. This could just as easily be done by a Blissey if you'd want to replace it. In fact, if you switch Empoleon for a slowbro I'd say it'd be a great decision to put Blissey here because Bliss+Bro is one of the strongest walling combos out there.

Replace both Empoleon and Torterra. Your picks were good here, but you don't really need flamethrower on slowbro if you follow my advice and replace Alakazam with a mixer to take out zong. CBtar and standard walling slowbro would be the better picks here I think.

The 4x Phychic moveset of Alakazam is bad indeed. I noticed I never ever use Confusion since I got Psybeam and Psychic. I am planning on replacing it with Energy Ball or a Punch, like Ice Punch, to counter some Dragon-types.

Please, if you plan on using Zam, don't put Ice punch- or any other punch on it. It's got horrid attack, and the punches are physical in d/p, not special like back in ADV. You'd be doing pittance damage even with 4x effectiveness.

Yeah, you may want to have quite a few moveset changes, or even pokemon changes. Gengar needs to lose Shadow Punch... as well as Dark Pulse. Shadow Ball has the same coverage as Dark pulse, only it has STAB backing it up. Consider any of the following: Hypnosis/Focus Blast/Energy Ball/Thunderbolt. Those allow for optimum coverage on a Gengar, and having a sleep-inducer is always a good thing.

On Luxray, crunch does not deal with fighting types- they resist it. I'd want to take out Thunder, and maybe replace it with Light screen to support the team. Discharge can stay over thunder wave, as it does have a nice paralysis chance. Also, Thunder Fang has got to go, use Spark. It's got the same power, but 100 accuracy as opposed to 95. Though, I'd agree with Kietharr and stick BulkyDos here, as it also helps take some hits from fighting types that Ttar and Blissey/Clefable may attract.

Zam... just use the set Acredula suggested, it's probably your best bet. Though Gengar is much more handy at this than Zam... I'd replace this. Electivire could fit here, as both Gyarados and Slowbro attract electric moves for it to absorb with Motor Drive. Check out the analysis and see which set would best fit you're needs, though I personally like Thunderbolt/Cross Chop/Ice Punch/Earthquake.

Clefable needs to lose moonlight if you're giving it softboiled. Give it Ice Beam instead... other than that, with those changes, it seems fine... though you may want to just use Blissey.

I dunno about that Empoleon... I guess if you want it to be a physical sweeper, just take out Hydro Pump for Swords Dance. Though I think Slowbro would fit here much better, seeing as you don't need Empoleon here as a special tank either with Clefable or Blissey (Whichever you plan to use). Though, Slowbro doesn't need flamethrower...

Torterra needs to lose Razor Leaf for Wood Hammer, and Leaf Storm for Stone Edge, then maybe put on a Choice Band or Choice Scarf. Though, replacing this for CBTar would just be plain better.

This is more of an in-game-fight-with-my-friends team, whereas here you're gonna want to have more competitive movesets and teams in mind for future RMT's, and for tourney's...

2. Do not post incomplete teams. If you're smart enough to pick five Pokemon, you can easily pick another one. If you're smart enough to pick nine, you can easily cut that down to six. Make sure to include natures, EV spreads and items. If you are confident with your EV spreads and natures, then you need not post them. If you're unsure of your selections, make a note of this or simply add a question mark after them so team raters can help you focus on perceived problems first.
