So for the big release of OMEGA RUBY & ALPHA SAPPHIRE I decided to update my competitive OU team. I'm creating my team around Sharpedo who will get a mega stone providing better speed, attack & defences.
Here is how I made my team;
So I started out with Sharpedo and wanted an entry hazarder and a Pokemon that can resist some of it's weaknesses, I decided on Roserade.
Then I wanted a strong fire type to cover the three big types. I wanted it to be fast so I chose Volcarona.
Then I though that my team was a bit delicate so I wanted a Pokémon that could shatter physical attackers as well as good defences and then some, the obvious choice was Mandibuzz.
I then really wanted to put in a greninja mainly cause they're awesome and to allow another special sweeper for the late game, while also filling in some type coverage.
Finally I wanted a staller to destroy teams so I thought that a pure toxic staller Gliscor would destroy teams.
Here are the Pokémon in more detail;
Roserade
Technician @ black sludge
IV - 31/x/31/31/31/31
Ev - 252 spd : 252 def : 4 spatt
Move set;
Toxic spikes,
Leech seed,
Sleep powder,
Magical leaf.
Roserade would be my lead and I'd use a quick sleep powers to stop any foe from dealing any damage. I'd then leech seed to start sapping a bit of life from them destroying many Pokémon. While that's going on I'd start setting up two layers of toxic spikes for any switchers to stumble into. If I get all that done I would take advantage of his ability technician and magical leaf. I wouldn't use him until he faints I'd bring him back in and when a wall or tank comes into play leech seed it to death.
Sharpedo
Speed boost @ sitrus berry
IV - 31/31/31/x/31/31
Ev - 252 att : 252 spd : 4 hp
Move set;
Crunch,
Surf,
Destiny bond,
Protect.
This would be my main physical sweeper. I'd start out with protect this lets it get a free speed boost without any damage. This allows it to out speed most pokemon so you'll get a couple more moves in! Crunch and would be it's main stab and covers a lot of variety. Because of its speed sharpedo can use destiny bond before it faints and grab the enemy off guard taking down a pokemon with it. I can also switch it out and use it to take down a strong pokemkn! I would keep switching and use it as a sweeper and a revenge killer and when it's hp is low I'll use it as a tank/wall killer.
(When oras comes out I'll be attaching a mega stone to it and with strong jaw crunch will be it's main stab and ice fang could be replaced with surf)
Greninja
Protean @ Life-Orb
IV - 31/x/31/31/31/31
Ev - 252 spd : 252 spatt : 4 hp
Move set;
Extrasensory,
Grass knot,
Surf,
Ice beam.
Greninja is my late game sweeper out speeding most pokemon and stab hitting with each and every move. It will also be used defensively with protean because no one will be able to predict it's typing.
Surf and ice beam are it's too main attacks dealing with a lot of types at a strong 90 special. Extrasensory is mainly for poison coverage which I don't really have and lets me deal with mega-venasaur. Grass knot is to deal with other greninjas' and can usually ko an offensive greninja with ease, I'd also use it for heavy walls/tanks and heavy Pokémon in general. It also adds another typing to protean which is pretty much the complete opposite to water.
Greninja could also be used as a revenge killer as I would never switch greninja into a battle as it's defences are very poor.
Volcarona
Flame body @ focus-sash
IV 31/x/31/31/31/31
Ev - 252 spatt : 252 spd : 4 hp
Move set;
Roost,
Quiver dance,
Bug buzz,
Heat wave.
This is a pretty average set for volcarona. Depending on the foe I'd put in a quiver dance or two then attack. Bug buzz and heat wave are two very powerful stab attacks that deal with a wide variety of pokemon while quiver dance boosts them both making it a have the potential to destroy teams! Roost allows it to heal which I use against foes who do less than half damage while I watch them die of poison from toxic spikes and also let's it recover from stealth rock which is a real danger to it. Even though volcarona is fairly bulky and can survive a few hits I put a focus sash on it to stop it being 1HKO'd by rock slide or stone edge. Overall volcarona is just a filler fire type to deal some damage and I am very happy to replace it if you can think of a better one. It does have trouble dealing with foes such as dragonite and chairzard so any adjustment to its move set would very much be appreciated.
Mandibuzz
Overcoat @. Leftovers
IV - 31/31/31/x/31/31
Ev - 252 def : 252 spdef : 4 hp
Move set;
Roost,
Foul play,
Whirl wind,
Knock off.
This makes Mandibuzz a real threat to physical attackers because it is extremely bulky and doesn't take much damage and foul play lets it use it's opponents attack to deal damage! This allows Mandibuzz to destroy physical pokemon after physical pokemon. Roost lets it restore half of its hp which makes it pretty unbeatable against some pokemon! Whirlwind racks up entry hazards in this case toxic spikes and it's pretty fast for a defensive pokemon so it can out speed quite a few walls and tanks. Knock off allows it to eliminate a held item while also letting it do some damage against special pokemon. The only thing I need help with is it's ability to defeat special pokemon, because of its dismal stats it's only really useful against physical pokemon.
Gliscor
Poison heal @ toxic- orb
IV - 31/31/31/x/31/31
Ev - 252 def / 252 spdef / 4 hp
Moveset;
Substitute,
Toxic,
Earthquake,
Protect.
This is my favourite move set for gliscor as it is a pure toxic staller. First off it would set up substitute (assuming it gets badly poisoned by toxic spikes). This lets it take some damage and hide behind some defences. I would then use protect to gain some hp from poison heal. Toxic is only there for flying types who avoided spikes to get the death by toxic going. Earthquake allows some decent stab attack for steel types and weak pokemon. I'd use this against the oppositions stronger pokemon to break them piece by piece. The only thing that worries my is it's poor special defence so I would appreciate some advise about how to use this pokemon to the best degree of ability.
By the way I wrote this on my phone so I can't tell is it's three lines or higher so please tell me of any of the pokemon are so I can sort that out ASAP. If it isn't don't close my thread as I will sort it quickly.
Thanks I'm advance for the advise I really appreciate it!
