Sticky Orange Islands SQSA Thread

Does anyone happen to know the internal/code names for the DLC Gen 9 Pokemon? Like how the Nacli line is "GANEN1/2/3"

I can take a pretty good guess at what they'd be just based on what they are (ie: SuicuneA, Duraludon2, probably Turtle or Tera or Disk for Terapagos), but I'm curious anyway.

For the Home challenges that require Regional Origin Dex (i.e. the Meloetta), do the DLC locations count separately for Pokemon that appear in both, or just the game?

EX: I didn’t import an Applin since I just mass deposited my boxes for a start. Does the Applin have to come from Paldea or just from SV (i.e. I can’t catch a second Applin while getting one to evolve to Dipplin)? Same for importing the Final Stage Starters caught in the Terrarium vs the Unrivaled Raid Catches

It is entirely based on the Origin of the Pokemon

If you had Go Tynamo in Home, it will only ever count for the Go Pokedex. It must be a Paldean Tynamo to count for the Paldea Dexes.

Note that the game doesn't differentiate between Kitakami, the Terrarium or mainland Paldea so a single Paldean Tynamo will count for all three of the SV Dexes.

e: And Magearna doesn't care about this for the national dex had every Pokemon touch Home.

Can Gigantamax Pokemon be transferred to Home from Go now? Was just transferring a couple of species and noticed one of my Toxtricity was able to be selected, instead of being greyed out like one would expect. It's definitely a Gmax one (I don't have any Toxtricity that aren't) and the transfer initiated as expected - the only reason it didn't complete was that I'd already sent something beforehand. Intentionally so as I don't actually want to transfer any of them.

No, if you try to transfer it will just Error.

I think this is how it worked before the Toxtricity event rather than graying it out, too. This is a classic Niantic Blunder

I’m doing my first play through of Soul Silver rn!! It’s on cart, and it seems noticeably slower than I remember Platinum being. That may be because I just finished White 2, which had an improved engine. I should probably just play Platinum to see if there’s a difference.

I fixed the time on my 3DS (from 2011 to 2024 with the correct month and date) in order to do a bug challenge on the proper day. The next morning, Soul Silver crashed and I had to restart the game. That’s the first time that had happened to me on Cart.

On a lighter note, I was wondering if anyone had advice for narrowing the squad down. I’m caught between playing through with Mons I wanted to use in Crystal: Heracross, Ampharos, a new and improved post PSS Sneasle, and the eevee I forgot about in Goldenrod until postgame, alongside my all stars from my Crystal run: Scizor, Typhlosion, Quagsire, and Sudowoodo. And if T-tar is obtainable early enough…

But that brings my total well above the 6 necessary and I’d like advice bringing it down. I assume I can win with wtv team I want, but was wondering which mons were the most fun to use. IE this is purely vibes based. I don’t wanna train too many due to limited exp.

I just grabbed the Eevee, so the only members I’d be missing would be the Sneasle. My Scizor has Swarm, not Technician which is certainly annoying and I can’t catch another one before Thursday without messing my clock up lol. I’m not sure if it would be worth it to wait to start training. Hmmm.

Can legendaries respawn after they were KO'd in Diamond and Pearl? I KO'd/ran away from Uxie and Azelf a while back to quickly get their dex entries under the assumption that they would respawn like in modern games, but redefeating the Elite Four and waiting over a day has not made them respawn.

To my knowledge, this was introduced in Platinum, so wouldn't be the case in Diamond and Pearl

Depends on if you KO'd them or ran. In DP they will respawn if you ran, but not if they fainted. You don't even need to beat the E4 just reenter the cave.

Is it just me or is Platinum significantly faster than HGSS. I just started playing Plat after finishing Soul Silver, and it genuinely feels like I’m playing on Speedup on cart. Maybe crazy or I’ve just adjusted to Soul Silver’s pace, but the sentiment of the internet is that HGSS is the same speed or faster than Platinum.
