Has anyone other than me and SadisticMystic realised the possibilities that Donphan might have in battle facilities in the future?
I'm sure everyone has heard of the FEAR strategy, where a level 1 Sturdy Aron or Togedemaru has the move Endeavor, which it uses on a full HP normal level Pokemon, then restores its HP to full using a held Berry Juice or Shell Bell? Worthless in usual play, but under Trick Room in the battle facilities, this totally tricks the unsuspecting AI.
Donphan is the only other Pokemon with Sturdy and Endeavor, and the only one to get a priority move: Ice Shard, as an egg move. It usually has the problem of being stuck with minimum level 25, but Pokemon GO lets you transfer almost any Pokemon at Level 1 to the main-series games, and new SwSh Day Care mechanics could allow our Level 1 Donphan to gain Ice Shard from a Swinub without breeding. So Donphan might be an upgrade from Aron/Togedemaru... or it might even give FEAR on low-ladder a workable team thanks to having a priority user.
(can I keep this as a tribute to turskain, who has a phanpy as a tribute to the Battle Maison's Donphan4?)
