[Overview]

Onix, the rock snake Pokemon. Onix is one of the lucky Pokemon who like Licktung and Murkrow, recieved a evolution in a later generation and was originally designed to have stats up to par with Pokemon in their last stage of evolution. With massive Defense and Speed and large movepool can run a variety of sets to a high state of effectiveness. With massive Defense, great Speed, and a wide movepool, Onix can fulfill numerous roles on a team. With Sturdy getting an upgrade in generation 5 allowing Onix to survive a hit from full HP. Onix proves to be as useful as a lead as it is with other sets. Onix can act as a reliable Stealth Rock user due to Sturdy, which allows Onix to survive a hit that would normally OHKO at full health. Rock head is a great ability for Onix, with access to Double Edge it removes the recoil. A drawback to our this rocky snake is that he sports a terrible medicore HP and Special Defense stats making him susceptible to special moves such as Scald or Surf. All in all, Onix can find a spot in to nearly any team that is looking for something from a good sweeper, to a useful wall.

[SET]
name: Lead Stealth Rock
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Dragon Tail
move 3: Stone Edge
move 4: Earthquake / Protect
item: Eviolite
ability: Sturdy
nature: Careful
evs: 236 HP / 116 Def / 156 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]

Onix has the Speed and the moves to run a spectacular Lead Stealth Rock set. With Stealth Rocks losing it's spot as a Technical Machine, there are less Pokemon that can access it without facing any drawbacks. Dragon Tail, a new move, works quite like Roar, but does damage then forcing the switch but also with a negative priority of six. in addition to forcing a switch, but also has negative priority like Roar. Earthquake and Stone Edge are the two primary STAB moves and they each get perfect neutral coverage over almost every Pokemon in the metagame. Protect can be used to block Fake Out Pokemon such as Meowth from ruining Sturdy.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

This set is very useful being a counter to at countering many of the common Pokemon that liek like to set up such as Scraggy, (just add a period after "up") Dragon Tail forces the opponent to switch, which will cause the boosts to be lost. As previously mentioned, Sturdy is a useful ability allowing Onix to live a hit from full HP with at least one health. Eviolite is a great item to have boosting Onix's already insane defenses Defense to an amazing 36, allowing Onix to take Phyiscal attacks with ease. Careful boosts Special Defense, while this is to raise the terribly low stat, there still isn't a very high chance of living without Sturdy, because of this running a defense boosting nature also is viable increasing the side Onix is going to want to take hits from. but most special attacks will still easily OHKO Onix, so running Impish is a alternative to boost Onix's amazing Defense. Onix is one of the heaviest Pokemon in the Little Cup metagame making Heavy Slam a useful option. Despite the power drop Explosion received this generation, Explosion it can also be run to do a decent chuck to Pokemon with Eviolite. A good teammate for this set is Ferroseed, with access to many hazards will help increase the effectiveness of Dragon Tail. Hippopotas can set up Sandstorm, which Onix is immune to and will boost his below average Special Defense and cause some damage to some Pokemon.

[SET]
name: Rock Polish
move 1: Rock Polish
move 2: Earthquake
move 3: Stone Edge
move 4: Explosion
item: Life Orb / Eviolite
ability: Sturdy
nature: Adamant
evs: 236 Atk / 236 SpD / 36 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Rock Polish, it seems as if every single Rock-type runs it and why not? It's very effective, giving Onix plus two Speed allows it to outspeed every Choice Scarf Pokemon that doesn't have at least 26 Speed is something. Earthquake and Stone Edge are Onix's two primary STAB attacks and get great neutral coverage on many Pokemon. Despite the power drop Explosion received, it still proves useful in many situations allowing Onix to KO or bring down to low health many Pokemon not running the Eviolite in sacrifice of it's own life.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Sturdy is great for guaranteeing that if Onix is at full HP, it can set up a Rock Polish without fainting. Onix will be able to set up a Rock Polish at full health. Eviolite is a useful item which helps Onix get the Rock Polish off boosting his great defenses. Eviolite is a great choice to help Onix pull off a Rock Polish, but the power drop from the lack of Life Orb is noticeable. Life Orb allows Onix to hit Pokemon fairly hard after that Speed boost adding a 1.3 multiplier to the damage of Onix's attacks for only 1 HP in return. Natu is a useful teammate, setting up a Light Screen to help Onix get that Rock Polish off then maybe take a hit after that. Natu is a great partner for Onix, easily setting up Screens to allow Onix to set up with ease. Hippopotas sets up permanent Sandstorm boosting Onix's low Special Defense. Hippopotas can also help Onix set up by setting up Sandstorm, boosting Onix's medicore Special Defence.

[Other Options]

Rock Blast can be used to break Substitute. Onix has a reasonably high Speed so a Choice Band or Specs set is viable, increasing the lower stats to a decent number. raising his low Attack stat to a decent level. With the same base power in both offensive stats, a MixLifeOrb set would work well, allowing Onix to hit both Pokemon who are only Physically bulky or only Specially bu.lky to hit Physical walls who expect to wall Onix with ease.

[Checks and Counters]

Onix didn't get the best typing despite it's great defenses. Not only does Rock and Ground give Onix a times four weakness to Water and Grass attacks, but it also sports four other weaknesses of common typing such as Fighting and Ground. Snover provides a great check setting up Hail then going for the KO with Blizzard but must fear Stone Edge. Snover can easily switch in on anything Onix can use besides Stone Edge and KO with Blizzard or Giga Drain. Frillish can come in and Scald Onix for the KO. Meditite has not only a massive Attack stat of 28, but also super effective priority moves that make Onix a easy kill no matter what Speed it is at. Bronzor is immune to Ground with Levitate and resists Rock then and can retaliate on the Rock Polish set by using Gyro Ball. easily take down Onix with Gyro Ball. Gligar is immune to Ground and doesn't take too much damage from Rock and at the same time is able to outspeed and attack with a STAB super-effective Earthquake.

[Dream World]

Onix got a decent ability from the Dream World. Weak Armour raises Speed in exchange for lowering defense when attacked. While this could prove useful on a Choice set it is not as appealing as the cons out-way the pros considering the common priority attacks.

Bot to say that the analysis was quite poor, and that I doubt that I caught all of what was wrong.

Onix has the Speed and the moves to run a spectacular an excellent Stealth Rock set. Dragon Tail, a new move , works quite somewhat like Roar, but does damage in addition to forcing a switch, but also has negative priority like Roar. [ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

This set is very useful good at countering many of the common Pokemon that like to set up. Dragon Tail forces the opponent to switch, deleting its boosts. Earthquake and Stone Edge are the two primary STAB moves and they each get perfect neutral , which will cause the boosts to be lost. As previously mentioned previously, Sturdy is a useful ability allowing Onix to live a hit from full HP with at least one health. Eviolite is a great item to have, boosting Onix's already insanely high Defense to an amazing 36, allowing Onix to take all physical attacks with ease. A Careful nature boosts Onix's Special Defense, but most special attacks will still easily OHKO Onix, so running an Impish nature to boost Onix's Defense is the better option. Despite the power drop which Explosion received this generation, it can also be run. Hippopotas is a good teammate, as it can set up Sandstorm, which Onix is immune to and will boost Onix's below average Special Defense to acceptable levels and cause some damage to some Pokemon.

It's very effective, giving Onix plus two Speed allows it to outspeed every Choice Scarf Pokemon that doesn't have at least 26 Speed is something. Like most of its Rock-type brethren, Onix can also run a Rock Polish set to boost its Speed and attempt a sweep. Earthquake and Stone Edge are Onix's two primary STAB attacks, getting near-perfect neutral coverage. Despite the power drop which Explosion received, it still proves useful in many situations, allowing Onix to KO or bring down to low health many Pokemon not running the using an Eviolite in sacrifice of it's own life.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Sturdy is great to do a decent chuck to Pokemon with Eviolite. A good teammate for this set is Ferroseed, with access to many hazards will help increase the effectiveness of for guaranteeing that Onix will be able to set up a Rock Polish at full health. (what are you trying to say here?) Eviolite is a great choice to help Onix pull off a Rock Polish, but the power drop from the lack of Life Orb is noticeable. Natu is a great partner for Onix, easily setting up Screens to allow Onix to set up with ease. Hippopotas can also help Onix set up by setting up Sandstorm, which boosts Onix's mediocre Special Defense.

[Other Options]

Rock Blast can be used to break Substitute. Onix has a reasonably high Speed so a Choice Band set is viable, (remove space) raising his its low Attack stat to a decent level. With the same base power in both equal offensive stats Attack and Special Attack stats, a mixed Life Orb set would work well, allowing Onix to hit physical walls who that expect to wall Onix with ease.

[Checks and Counters]

Onix didn't get the best typing despite its great defenses. Not only does Rock and Ground a Rock / Ground typing give Onix a times four two 4x weaknesses to Water- and Grass-type attacks, but it also sports four other weaknesses of common typing such as Fighting and Ground makes Onix weak to common Fighting- and Ground-type attacks. Bronzor is immune to Ground-type attacks with courtesy Levitate, and resists Rock-type attacks, and can easily take down Onix with Gyro Ball. Similiarly, Gligar is also immune to Ground-type attacks and doesn't take too much damage from Rock and at the same time is able to and can OHKO Onix with a STAB super-effective Earthquake.

[Dream World]

Onix got a decent somewhat unusual ability from the Dream World. Weak Armour raises Speed in exchange for lowering Onix's Defense when attacked. While this could prove to be useful on a Choice set, it is not as appealing, as the cons outweigh the pros considering the common prevalence of priority attacks.

To be honest, this analysis was still pretty bad, with many grammatical errors and misplaced sentences. I wish you good luck with this analysis.

Ok I'm going to stamp Calm Pokemaster's for now but 2 points:

a) He/she, his/her, who etc. are ok as long as it is consistent throughout. You simply cannot switch between "he" and "it".
b) Don't take his douchey-ness dis seriously-- good work on writing the analysis
