Hi! This is my first RMT ever and wanted to try team building since I never really do it myself and I usually steal teams.
I wanted to make a team based around two things, Walking Wake learning Scald and the most popular new mon from DLC 1 so far which is Ogerpon! I figured since I wanted to use Walking Wake without Hydro Steam - it was best to make this a Rain team which is why I decided to use Ogerpon-Wellspring.

I saw this learned Scald and just wanted to try something new with Wake since I don't see it on rain too much.

The new kid on the block, holding the Wellspring Mask, becoming the only other fully-evolved Water/Grass Pokémon. I wanted this to be here as one of my rain abusers and just to see how the mon functions.

Obviously, no Rain team can be without its setter and up until this DLC, this was the only one that can do it automatically!

Banded Tera Water Wave Crash go brrrrr - this mon is the premier physical Rain abuser and I needed some heavy oomph in the team.

Wanted a good special attacker that functions well in rain and can also punish opposing rain abusers while being able to stay healthy with Roost.

I initially put this in here as an alternative pivot to Pelipper in case Pelipper is too slow to really be useful at pivoting and also hazard prevention since this team didn't have that. This was Eject Button Healing Wish, standard support Hatterene. However I realised that I really needed an Electric absorber, since obviously due to the nature of the team, I am very susceptible to Electric types.

Fuck Kingambit, this is the real King, and is my teams Electric absorber for the above reasons.

Ogerpon-Wellspring (F) @ Wellspring Mask
Ability: Water Absorb
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ivy Cudgel
- U-turn
- Play Rough
- Wood Hammer
The queen of this team. Her stats are slightly above average very well-rounded, and now that we know her offenses are buffed by 1.2x, this means she has an effective Attack stat of 144, which in OU is only beaten out by Lando-T and Bax. Grass/Water is a solid defensive type, only weak to Flying, Poison and Bug which are not super common offensive types. Ivy Cudgel is just a solid move to have as her signature, U-turn helps her pivot out of her tough matchups, Play Rough is one of the many good coverage options it has and Wood Hammer is a great nuke - I prefer Wood Hammer to Power Whip because, despite the recoil, I enjoy the consistency of Wood Hammer. If I chose to Tera Ogerpon-W, Embody Aspect gives this mon a 1.5x boost to her Special Defense up to a total of 144, putting her SpD on par or better than Kyogre, Pex, and Zama-C.
Pelipper @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Relaxed Nature
- Hurricane
- Surf
- U-turn
- Roost
This is a standard bulky Pelipper that will setup rain and pivot out into one of the abusers on the team. I wanted a tad more SpA instead of what seems to be the normal SpD just for a bit more power in its STABs if it needs to stay in for an extended period of time. Checks the Grass types that may come in on my abusers and can threaten most hazard setters in the tier with Hurricane.
Walking Wake @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Pulse
- Flamethrower
Typical Walking Wake set but with Booster Energy (SpA) and Scald instead of Hydro Steam - Tera Water if needed to lean into the Rain abuse and turn Scald into a nuke with a nasty drawback if you would be so unlucky. Proto SpA makes this mon incredibly strong and pairs well with Ogerpon as she can pressure the mons that check Wake like Pex and Clod. I think on this set though, given it's not Specs, Draco AND Pulse may be redundant?
Floatzel @ Choice Band
Ability: Swift Swim
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Wave Crash
- Liquidation
- Flip Turn
- Ice Spinner
I'll be honest, I've never used this mon before and didn't really know how to build it, so I just chose the moves that seem to be most common on it, replacing Aqua Jet with its newly acquired Flip Turn. As we all know, Tera Water Banded Wave Crash is a nuke and there isn't much at all that can switch into it, especially when under Rain it outspeeds every unboosted mon and even certain boosted mons too.
Zapdos @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Static
Tera Type: Electric
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Hurricane
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
Bulky offensive Zapdos here to click nuclear STAB hurricanes in the Rain and punish opposing abusers that may be doing the same thing as me or trying to take advantage of my own Rain. This and Ogerpon form the core that can punish opposing bulky Waters that can be a problem for Rain teams usually.
Great Tusk @ Leftovers
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Body Press
- Knock Off
The final piece of the puzzle that brought this together. I had a HUGE weakness to Electric given the nature of the team and what better to fix that problem than the best mon in the tier. Defensive Tusk here to absorb Electric attacks and clean hazards where applicable, Knock to hit Air Balloon Gholdengo and Press instead of Rocks because I felt this team benefitted more from the heavy chip Body Press can grant, especially when this bulky. I forgot to change this on the paste but Tera Steel to flip the tables on the Fairies and Grasses that typically threaten it.
