Haku16, ViperGTS, BattleBeastEXP are you guys on drugs? Bluecookies made a pretty good post and you all are to ignorant to even reply back to him. Haku, I won't even be surprised if your 300+ posts is due to this thread. How many times have you guys asked the same questions over and over again? If you want to contribute to this thread write better posts. Don't you guys think you have talked about TR and raindance teams to death already? Sheesh. No wonder it's the same 5 people posting the same thing. The only reason I ever even go on this thread is because of Micuat. Usually I just do ctrl+f and just type in his name since he is the only that makes quality posts. And he is Japanese (no offense to you Micuat)!!!!!

Let me try to steer this thread back on track. You guys seem so set on Raindance>TR when in reality it's an even 50-50. I'm sure you guys have youtubed every vid from the showdown that you saw Zerowing and Hal's final match in the LA Qualifier. Had Zerowing predicted that Hal would protect his pokemon when he attacked it, he probably would have won the tourny. Or in top 4 of VGS when Hal could have used protect on his Kingdra and KOED Yasuhito Kajiwara Latios with his Ludicolo. This game is all about prediction and of course a little bit of luck.So you really can't say one team is better then another team.

no, i strongly agree you are right about that, and thats why im not running either trickroom or raindance though i really like raindance.

We are discussing strategies.
This thread is about discussing strategies.
So what if we have been talking aobut the same thing over and over? We just want to make sure of these strategies and if they work, dont work, etc. If it really bothers you, just dont pay attention to what we talk about.
I dont want to start any "fights" due to some ordinary discussion thats been discussed over and over.
BTW, no im not on drugs, and i saw BlueCookies's post. We dont HAVE to reply to it, we could just look at it.

Edit: I'm not trying to start a flamewar with my posts, so please don't treat them as such. Maybe Mysteryman is trying to start a flamewar :p but not me. Also, you're exactly right viper, you don't have to respond to my posts. All I want is for people to read them, and if they respond-great. However, I disagree with the rest of your post. You haven't really discussed strategies in depth at all. the only people who have posted consistantly and discussed strategies in an intelligent manner are PBB and micuat. end of story. You haven't Haku hasn't. Other people in this thread who I do not know haven't. Hopefully this post will clear some things up of how I think "strategies" should be discussed.

Bad posts:
1) Questions if you should keep your most recent soft reset or breed.
ex. "almost temped to keep this

Jolly #381 Latios: 23 - 24 / 30 - 31 / 28 - 29 / 3 - 7 / 13 - 14 / 25 - 27"

these posts spark no discussion on strategy for the showdown, and they belong in another forum(not trying to minimod or anything).
2)Pokemon is a team game, so asking about one single pokemon in a very vague way is not a good way to spark discussion, other than a possible one-word response from someone.
ex. "Whats latios' usual moveset for this kind of play?"

A new team idea(go into some depth about it, and say how it does against some common teams or pokemon), or an in depth single pokemon/2 lead pokemon review are always good ways to spark discussion. Something like(this quote I'm making up myself) "Hey guys, I've thought of a good pokemon to use: Swampert@ dunno, ev's: unsure, nature: sassy/relaxed/brave/quiet, moves:Earthquake/Protect/Hydro Pump or Ice beam maybe?/?" is a horrible way to start a discussion on Swampert. At least give the effort to have a completed moveset/ev's/nature and strategy behind it, and when you post ideas if you have tested it experience is always a good thing to have backing up your idea rather than theorymon, but theorymon can still be good if it's intelligent. So many posts have been like this, so I had a ton of examples to choose from, it's just that this one was the shortest.

3) Posts that just have nothing to do with the showdown.
ex. "so hows breeding going for everyone? so far iv bred for my Snorlax and currently breeding for my Beldum. so far my team is looking like a goodstuff team.=D"

Unfortunately, I don't think many people really care how breeding is going for everyone, and it's quite a dull subject to actually talk about, unless you are going extremely in depth about emerald's rng for breeding, but that belongs in another thread entirely. Posts like this offer nothing to sparking discussion on strategies for the tournament.

Now, I could go on but I think you should get the point. But so you guys don't hate me and think i'm not being fair, there have been some very good posts in this thread, and I will explain why they are good so you can learn from them while making your post.

Good posts:
1) The original post. Zerowing first post is a very good post. Not like I expect you guys to post a long post like his, but you should use that post since it is a good reference post for all the past warstories and battle videos so you can learn from last years tournament, and it also has a lot of general info that answers a lot of questions someone new might have about the showdown, like rules and bans. You should always read that before you post a question about the actualy showdown because odds are his post answered it.

2) Micuat's posts
ex. "I got some battle video codes of Hyogo tournament,

85-99789-99337 48-51073-12403
76-46244-77349 14-81672-13110
35-31886-39934 69-42830-37362
94-17639-78103 70-86331-84414
16-21089-83965

I haven't watched them so there may be some videos not related with the tournament. And I'm sorry that I can't record and upload them.

I also have some videos that the battle is held in ni-channel(2ch.net) when the Hyogo champion appeared there.
All of them are Hyogo champion vs chalengers.

34-16068-41211
71-58349-80880
83-49091-31068

Interestingly, at the second video, champion lost the game against goodstuff. Chalenger's team is ambipom/zapdos/cresselia/salamance(champion used the team which won the tournament).
It is believed that raindance team can deal with goodstuff so his team is not a good model. Though the popularity of raindance team is remarkable."

I really could have picked any of his posts other than battle video posts, like the ones where he gives his opinion on the japanese metagame, but this was just his first post of the thread so I had to pick it."

3) recognizing what the bad posts are in this thread
ex. "hmm let's avoid this turning into Wi-Fi's hellspawn. Anyway, since this shit isn't going down in Australia I guess I have to wait for JAO again or somethig."

Unfortunately, this didn't contribute anything to the discussion, but atleast it was a good atempt to get people from talking about what pokemon they bred/etc.

4) recognizing good posts and making an educated posts afterwards.
ex. "Amen"

amen to that post.

5) Good strategy related posts, even if they're answering stupid questions.
ex. "If Light Screen is in play, it would need none. :P Assuming Latios has 252 SpA and something like Focus Sash, Metagross has no HP or SpD EVs, with Light Screen, HP Ground 70 does 38%-44%, easily making it a 3KO.

If Latios has Life Orb and Light Screen is still active, you need 212 HP and no SpD to have HP Ground 3KO Metagross.

Zapdos' biggest counters are what BBEXP listed. Heat Wave will be a probable move on a lot of Zapdos' so once Platinum is out, Aboma won't really be a counter(watch out for Occa Berry though). the abilities don't really matter either, since a Rhyperior with Solid Rock won't be touched by Zapdos unless HP Grass, and then Rhyperior willl OHKO with Stone Edge."

PBB's posts are always good, although they're usually answering a lot of the bad questions here(he has better tollerance of you guys than I do), but his posts are an excellent model to base your posts off of. First of all, he includes damage calculations to back up his posts. Damage calcs are a great way to prove points with mathematical evidence. If you are making a post about how Wigglypuff is usable and how it can absorb a Metagross' Meteor Mash easily, I don't think most of us sane ones are going to take you too seriously. But if you post a good moveset, some ev's and a nature and go into depth about how Wigglytuff makes a good pokemon for some kind of crazy perish song team and show some damage calcs that Metagross Meteor Mash does 41-49.99%, then we will take your post seriously.

So hopefully you guys take this into considderation before posting, and use some of the good posts here as a model for your posts, especially when you want to talk about a new strategy you have.

Nothing can counter every single type of team, with one real exception: Shedinja. Only counter for all of those via team strategy building is hail teams.

Guys, bluecookies hit the nail on the head on every single issue. Follow his examples on good posting and pokemon methods. If you do, you can be a pokemon master, like me and Bluecookies. =p

R1 loss to japan chick = master?

Nah, just j/k, we all love you PBB :P

Amen. I feel terrible now(seriously).

Let me start of by saying: no more personal attacks; no calling someone a dumb ass, no calling someone's post retarded, etc. I've been far to lenient up to this point and I will begin cracking down on posts that either post little to no information, unrelated discussion, or "should I keep this" posts. Please contribute to the discussion at hand, asking if you should "keep this Latios" is not for this thread, use the "Look at my Pokemon" thread in the Wifi section of Stark Mountain.

Here is a short list of things that should not be discussed here:
-Should I keep this Pokemon
-How are your teams coming along
-I wish this was in (insert country here)
-Help me make my team

If you wish to discuss something, put some quality into your posts, its easy to say Snorlax can counter Sunny Day teams, but why? Mentioning Thick Fat and some damage calcs not only gets your point across intelligently, but also shows you actually put some effort into researching the topic at hand. Maybe it turns out Snorlax is a terrible counter due to it being OHKOd by Eggy's Solar Beam, but according to the post Snorlax does just fine. If you say something, back it up with cold hard facts.

Or with the Bronzong discussion, which is better Heatproof or Levitate, BlueCookies had a very good post explaining his position on the debate with some information to back his post up, not only that he gives other options that can accomplish the role Bronzong usually takes on teams.

If you have a question don't hesitate to ask, but if you cannot answer a question with a quality post keep it to yourself and let someone who can use a damage calculator or has experience with this metagame answer the questions.

Additionally if you have a team or Pokemon idea you wish to share, go more in depth than beyond Pokemon@items with moves. It's great of you to share with us, but how about explaining it with damage calculations, good team members to accompany it.

One more thing, test your teams, theorymon will only go so far and doing a soft run with meh IVs on your Pokemon is much better than going into the tournament blind with perfect IVs. Testing your teams will help you discover holes in your team idea that you may not have seen, it's better to discover these weaknesses before the tournament so they don't suddenly surprise you in the middle of a match. Most teams and team ideas are personal preference, my Dusknoir/Weavile/Slowking/Machamp team may be my ideal team, but for someone else it might not suit them. But if you do wish to ask for constructive criticism for your teams, treat your post like you would a thread in the Rate My Team forum, go in depth about each of your Pokemon choices explaining why they are on your team, what purpose they serve, etc.

Again I will be cracking down on bad posts from now on, post intelligently and you shouldn't have a problem.

OH CRAP YES FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:D

so it appears that they will have a format similar to Japan; round 'one' at the qualifying stops. The winners of that(or maybe top 4 or something) go to St. Louis for the nationals, then the winners (or top blank amount of players) of that go to San Diego for the worlds. I am so pumped. :D :D :D I must get ready right now.

too bad they didn't announce dates and times for the regional events; that is the information I think most of us are anticipating.

Regionals have to be between March 22nd (Platinum Launch Date) and June 27th (National championships)

That gives us 4 months to prepare! get those eggs hatching everybody! there is little lime to get your teams finished!

Wow finally! I hope they have them sometime during the Summer, which hopefully gives me some time to breed in Platinum!

Edit: And it rocks that it's a Series tournament! Hopefully more locations and more people.

ok so where are the qualifying tournys being held at?

This is awesome news! Too bad Mexico didn't get a tournament :(. If there is one around the San Diego area I'd consider going though.

Yeah if there isn't a NY one I probably can't go. Hypnosis has 60 accuracy now so do you think Hypnosis is still usable?
