I just returned to Pokemon after a long hiatus; last time I played, Zygarde was running rampant. Although I am, by no means, a good player, I really enjoy building teams using wacky techs or non-OU Pokemon that I believe would thrive. However, because of my need to find quasi-viable hidden techs, I've never really been able to climb out of mid-ladder 1500s.

This latest rendition of a hot team based around Mega Camerupt may help me break past this wall. But, as of now, there are so many threats that defeat my team. Every time I attempt to patch a hole, a few more appear. Therefore, I hope this RMT can help me bring this Camerupt team to greatness.

Camerupt-Mega @ Cameruptite
Ability: Magma Armor
EVs: 128 HP / 252 SpA / 128 Spe
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Nature Power
- Rock Slide / Yawn / Toxic

Coming off a Sheer-Force-boosted base 145 Special Attack, Camerupt is the primary special wallbreaker of the team. Fire Blast is the primary STAB attack that does massive damage to the likes of Rotom-Wash and threatens Ferrothorn out. Earth Power is the secondary STAB attack that hits everything Fire Blast can't for at least neutral and OHKOs Toxapex after Rocks. Nature Power is a tech option with the two terrains, becoming Thunderbolt to catch Water-types in Electric Terrain and Energy Ball in Grassy Terrain for Rotom-Wash or Swamperts.

The last move is a quandary for me. I currently use Rock Slide because I've been running into a lot of Charizard and Volcarona on the ladder, and they all think Camerupt is a free set-up opportunity, in before I OHKO them with Rock Slide. However, Yawn and Toxic are being considered to force out or wear down the Water-type switch-ins, respectively.

Tapu Koko @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 32 HP / 88 Def / 172 SpA / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Taunt

Tapu Koko acts as a special sweeper cleaning up with its decent speed stat and Electric spam in Electric Terrain. Volt Switch and Thunderbolt for the primary STAB spamming, powered up to insane levels in Electric Terrain. Landorus-Therian, Gliscor, and Garchomp are pretty big threats to Mega-Camerupt able to come in at least once, threatening it out, while setting up Stealth Rocks and gaining the initiative. So, Taunt stops the Stealth Rock, and HP Ice does critical damage for a Kartana sweep or Camerupt kill.

And, given the Shuca Berry, I can play more wildly with Koko against Super Effective Ground attacks. Roost is being considered for longevity, but I am unable to fit it into the move-set without forgoing power or utility.

Landorus-Therian @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Fly
- Swords Dance
- Stealth Rock

Landorus-Therian form provides Stealth Rock and extreme offensive pressure with its wallbreaking ability. With Tapu Koko's ability to rid the team of opposing Landos and Gliscors, Lando can spam Earthquake to weaken the opposing team for the Kartana late game. Supersonic Skystrike after a Swords Dance busts through most fat Pokemon and it gives the team a reliable way to kill Fighting and Grass-Types. Stealth Rock for the utility.

Tapu Bulu @ Leftovers
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Swords Dance
- Horn Leech
- Superpower
- Synthesis

The second of the Swords Dance Pokemon on this team. At first, I had Tapu Bulu as Banded, but the damage output was not there. And the Pokemon was surprisingly frail, taking massive damage on switch-ins, being too slow to check anything, and taking a lot of recoil from Wood Hammer. This specially defensive allows Bulu to soft check Lele, Greninja, and other threatening Special Attackers without putting too much pressure on SpDef Toxapex.

Swords Dance, Synthesis, Horn Leech, Leftovers, and Grassy Terrain allows Bulu to set-up on even supposed counters like Tornadus-Therian, and beat them one-v-one. Bulu can reach threatening levels of power and bulk all the while restoring health with Horn Leech. Superpower for coverage against Steel-types like Ferrothorn.

kartana.gif

Kartana @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Smart Strike
- Sacred Sword
- Defog

The late game sweeper Choice Scarf Kartana. Leaf Blade and Smart Strike dual STAB; Leaf Blade in Grassy Terrain can reach dangerous levels of power, allowing for easy cleaning. Sacred Sword over Knock Off because I really fear the Steel-types, but considering switching to Knock Off. And, Scarf Defog for the opportune moment when I force a switch.

toxapex.gif

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 20 Def / 240 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Haze
- Recover
- Toxic

After the first five Pokemon, I realized the defensive frailty of the team and was considering through all the Water-types to complete the Fire-Water-Grass core with Camel and Bulu. At first, I went with Mantine, but although it took special hits like a beast, it was defensively frail, completely walled by Toxapex and could get worn down by Toxic.

Therefore, I sold my soul to the devil and used this accursed Pokemon. Standard Pex set with Scald spam, Haze to guard against set-up Pokemon like Volcarona, Recover for longevity and stalling, and Toxic to beat opposing walls one-v-one.
