Ninetales @ Heat Rock
Name: Sun Setter

Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower / Weather Ball
- Solar Beam
- Healing Wish
- Encore
[SET COMMENTS]
Ninetales offers the sun's blessing to its teammates and utility with Healing Wish and Encore. The chosen STAB move is a tradeoff between power and consistency; Flamethrower trades a slightly lower Base Power for consistency, making it the preferred option. Solar Beam deals with Water-type foes such as Urshifu-R, Swampert, and Hisuian Samurott. With Healing Wish, Ninetales allows safe entry to any sweeper on the field, while Encore punishes entry hazard setters and setup sweepers such as Zamazenta, Primarina, and Ceruledge.
Gouging Fire is a natural teammate to Ninetales thanks to Protosynthesis, which provides it with a pseudo-Choice Scarf, transforming its Choice Band set into a formidable wallbreaker that can OHKO most foes that are not Fire-resistant such as Gliscor, Landorus, and Galarian Moltres. After a boost, Ogerpon-H also benefits greatly from sun both offensively, with Ivy Cudgel dealing with bulky threats such as Iron Hands, Gliscor, and Mandibuzz, and defensively by reducing the damage from Water-type moves, which can turn Ogerpon-H into a potent wincon with its Grass-type STAB moves in the non-weather variants of the Water and Ground matchups. Other popular teammates include Swords Dance Ceruledge and Air Balloon Heatran, both of which bring valuable immunities to the team and can help in certain matchups such as Ground, Fighting, and Dragon, by targeting specific threats like Clodsire, Earthquake Hippowdon, Gouging Fire, and Zamazenta. Furthermore, Ceruledge, after a Swords Dance, takes out Iron Boulder with Shadow Sneak while Heatran handles Flutter Mane and Toxapex with Heavy Slam and Magma Storm, respectively, and can set Stealth Rock up. Volcarona also reaps quite a few benefits for both its offensive and defensive variants, taking less damage from Water-type moves and getting access to sun-boosted Morning Sun, which makes it possible for Volcarona to set up on Keldeo as well as Greninja in the Dark matchup. Lastly, Ninetales appreciates having Cinderace as a teammate to avoid unnecessary chip damage from hazards when setting up sun thanks to Court Change
