need help countering SWAMPERT

any good pokemon that can counter swampert? please include nature and moveset.

would venasaur be good enough to take it on?

can't wait to hear your input! thanks! -chris

Ludicolo is technically the best counter in the game for Swampert; it doesn't even need a Grass move to beat Pert. Zapdos with Hidden Power Grass can also beat Swampert very effectively.

Almost any grass can kill it, with a good grass type move and if the pokemon is grass. Yeah I think ludicolo would be the best one. Maybe a adament venasar and solar beam.

Cresselia/Mespirit/Uxie with Grass Rope are enough for countering pert, you can easily switch on Earthquakes and also take a couple of IB/Surfs.

very interesting...thanks for the input. i will be looking into raising those pokemon to finally beat my bro's swarmpert which is his last poke standing everything time we battle lol. thanks...

oh what about a electivire w/ hidden power grass? will he be a good all around poke for swarmpert?

If you want to use an Electric to counter Swampert, I would go with Raichu due to the fact that it is the only one to get Grass Knot (Plusle and Minun also get it, but why would you use either of them over Raichu?) Grass Knot is 80 BP on Swampert as opposed to 70 bp from hidden power.

Why would a solarbeaming venasar ever be adament? You would want to run modest on him. As for counters, basicly anything with a grass attack will ohko it, grass knot and hp grass are both good examples.

I personally like Gengar with Energy Ball. Switch in on a EQ and blast away. He won't see it coming the first time, and after that you can use prediction with Gengar's imense movepool.

Swampert doesn't really need a "counter" as much as it needs something to take care of it when it's not expecting it; the same way you'd "counter" Blissey. The best way to do this is to put HP grass on something Swampert loves to switch in on.

Like Raichu. God it's so so satisfying killing the single most used counter I'd had on NetBattle.

Grass Knot on something that Swampert loves to switch on also obviously works. 4x weak with 80 BP.

I've killed about 20 or so Perts with my Leaf Blading Gallade, but Swampert won't switch in much on Gallade as opposed to a mixed Ape or the like. Pert hates Grass Rope.

Which would be the main reason the Mixed Infernapes use Grass Knot, right?
One of them. Infernape with Life Orb can also OHKO Slowbro, Milotic, and possibly Suicune with a Grass Knot after using Nasty Plot. It also deals with stuff like Hippowdon and Rhyperior, which don't even stand a chance.

Swampert also hates being Will-o-Wisped or Toxiced so consider that. Any Grass kinda rocks Swampert as long as they have one kind of good defensive stat and Swampert's Ice move doesn't hit on the weaker one (so use Tangrowth for Ice Punching ones).

I would use Zapdos since it isn't OHKOed by Swampert's main STAB move, but that may be just me!

Maybe a adament venasar and solar beam.

Yes, let's take a Grasser that doesn't resist Earthquake, give him a move that takes a turn to set-up and warns Swampert what is coming at him (not to mention giving anything that comes in a free turn to harass Venusaur) and give him a nature that cuts the power of this move.

i was thinking about teaching my ape grass knot, but wouldn't swampert drown it or something? hmm...maybe if ape has speed then it might work..

Magnezone with HP Grass is another good bait... as well as putting the hurt on incoming Dugtrios... also, resists Stone Edge and Avalanche/Ice Beam, a few common moves on old Swampy.

Just don't come in on an Earthquake, obviously.
