NBA Season 2009-2010

although I should hate the Celtics, I actually really want them to win this series in 5 or 6. The Cavs continue to show why they completely rely on Lebron come playoff time, and they arent helping their case for keeping Lebron. This team is in win now mode, and if they lose to the Celtics what reasons does he have for staying? As much as people incorrectly claim the Celtics are old, the Cavs core is even older than the Celtics. Shaq is 38, Big Z is past his prime, Jamison is 34, Parker is 33-34, and Mo is almost 30. This team can only decline from here, and nobody wants shaq just so the Cavs can clear some cap

The Cavs 2 best players, LeBron and Mo, are 24 and 27 respectively. They also have J.J. Hickson as a future player coming up.

Other than Rondo and Perkins, the Celts doesn't have a single reliable player under the age of 33. They also don't have any young depth at those positions.

My predictions for the Suns/Spurs series - the Suns will have a bit of trouble in game two, but they will probably still take the series. The reason I say this, is because the Suns are pretty much all healthy now, which is a first for them versus the Spurs, and they showed it in Game 1 - especially since the last 4 years in the playoffs versus the Spurs, the Suns NEVER won game 1. Of course, I am biased, as I live in Phoenix...

On the Jazz/Lakers series, I hope the Jazz win. I hate the Lakers, and them going to the finals, whether it be Western Conference or NBA Finals year after year is getting old.

Mo Williams is overrated dude. He benefits from playing with Lebron during the season, but this guy is trash in big playoff series. Last night wasnt just an add shooting night, he does that a lot in big playoff games. Hickson is a future player, but what is there after that? Anderson Varasoft takes up 10 mil a year on the cap, and hes just a role player. Lebrons gonna get a max contract if he stays in Cleveland, and that already takes up a big chunk on the cap. Cleveland really cant get better then where they are at right now, so there seems to be no real reason to stay there besides the fact that its his home town.

Also, what about Perkins? Hes about 25, and he has been contributing for the Celts. Yes, he doesnt dazzle you on the offensive end but his job really isnt to put the ball in the hole. Hes supposed to limit Big Men (which he hasnt done the greatest job of this series), and get rebounds. Overall, his +/- is still +17 on the series, so hes done a solid job so far

Or do you want them to win so the lakers can get revenge :P.

Mainly posting to say go hawks (the most complete team right now imo. they just have to put the pieces together and hold it down ;D)

Dwight Howard to foul out in 15 minutes.

Where's that guy that said Cleveland losing last year was a fluke? What excuse will it be this year of the cavs lose this series?
Laziness.
I was stunned at that loss. I still have the Cavs in 5, and I'm still certain Cleveland will win, but there's been a shocking lack of mental discipline. And that's everything.

Ah, well. I'm starting not to get very concerned now that Houston's going all out with the Bosh sweepstakes, and I'll think we'll get him. Brooks/Martin/Ariza/Bosh/Yao should easily wreck everyone, and finally neutralize LA's bigs advantage.

A healthy Houston lineup with Bosh in it is a scary as fuck prospect, Aaron Brooks as a 4th option is pretty stacked! Naturally, I hope he doesn't end up there :P.

And darkie I meant that Rondo especially is matching the form that the Celtics of old had! I hope he leads the Celts to destroy the Cavs in 5.

Hahah at the Hawks being the "most complete team" and then getting destroyed by 43 odd points! Orlando have a clear advantage at Point Guard and Centre, the Hawks have a decent one at SG and a slight one at PF (for both teams SF isn't really a big factor, Orlando have more versatility there so I'll give them a slight edge. The Hawks have the best bench player in Crawford but then they have nobody else, where as the Magic are as deep as the Pacific. I'm not even mentioning the Lakers, Spurs, Suns, Celtics or Cavs either, who are all more "complete" teams then Atlanta!

Not to mention Orlando actually has a bench. Definitely the best bench in the playoffs.

Also Aaron Brooks wouldn't be the Rockets number 4 option with Bosh wtf. He lead the team in scoring.

HeroMasaki, there is Yao Ming (number 1), Chris Bosh (number 2) and then Kevin Martin (with a season knowing the system; he is a better scorer then Brooks anyway) so yes he would be number four. Don't get me wrong, he's good, but as you saw a Brooks led team is only going to be an average one at best.

I obviously want the Celtics to win and I think they will but it'll be extremely tight, I think it'll go to 6/7 games. I'm worried about the Magic though.

As a Celtics fan I age is a concern but I still don't regret that trade, we got a championship team and a contender for this year and the last. It would have been awesome if the draft lottery was kinder to us and we picked up Kevin Durant but hey, this works out too. That said I hope we can get Jordan Crawford out of Xavier with our pick, right now he's being highly touted as just a scorer but with time I think he can develop into something better especially with the same veterans that helped Rondo develop (with the exception of Allen because as much as I like him and want him around I don't think he'll be here next year).

Lakers just proved that they can beat the Jazz at home. This series just got easier.
The Lakers are just too big and long for every team in the west, especially the Jazz. The Jazz will probably take game 3, bu I think the Lakers at least take game 4 then put it away in 5.

One thing I worry about the Celtics is their outside. They just go on these random spurts where they can't get any offense; and it mostly happens to their bench.

They won't be able to beat the Magic if they don't make any outside shots, and Rondo, although has improved in his jumper, is going to have to hit it to seriously open up anything for him against Howard.

They are complete imo... they just dont know it? Iono. Magic just went apeshit on them.

They gotta be more aggressive. They proved they can make hella freethrows 30-31 iirc. So I would pound it and get dwight in trouble :l.

Celtics are struggling this season, but they've proved to everyone they can beat the top teams at their home court on Monday night at the Cav's home court. If Rondo sets the tone for everyone Pierce, Garnett and Allen will take over and will be a force to be reckoned with. Even though LeBron has a few key players around, they still need a few players to step up. Everytime you watch a Cavs game it feels like a its a one man show by LeBron James. Mo Williams, Shaq, West and a few to name need to a step up, if they're going to face Celtics, a defensive team that can shut down LeBron.

As much as I want Boston to beat the Cavs (Lakers fan here, some revenge for 07-08 would be awesome, besides imo boston's weaker than orl and cavs) I really doubt that the Celtics would be able to pull off the upset. First of all, I don't think Bos has performed that well on their homecourt, meaning the Cavs have a pretty good shot at reclaiming homecourt advantage. Second, the Cavs have James, and I'm pretty sure that when it really counts, he will get the calls in his favor, regardless of arena. Third, I doubt that the Cavs roleplayers will continue their subpar play for much longer this series.

still hope boston wins though. god i hate lebron.

They'll play as good as they have on the road, and they've actually done well at home in the first round. The good news is that they can't get any worse and the cavs can't get any better. So the 'home court' argument is null.

Second, the Cavs have James, and I'm pretty sure that when it really counts, he will get the calls in his favor, regardless of arena.
Sure didn't happen last game... or the last 3 years. People can keep thinking and recite "LeBron James" all they want, but it's never worked for him to get a ring this far.

Third, I doubt that the Cavs roleplayers will continue their subpar play for much longer this series.
Basically you doubt the Celtics will continue to play defense.

They said that last year too about the Magic.

There's a reason they're struggling. It ain't coincidence.

Well, here's hoping.

EDIT: K, this sucks. James has been dominant, his teammates have been performing well, and the Cavs are getting the majority of the calls in their favor. So much for the Cavs struggling.

FUCK DEM SPURS! WOOT SUNS!

I really hope we kill em off finally Sunday and that the Jazz find it in themselves to beat the Lakers at least once, that way we'll have time to prepare and rest up for the big challenge the Lakers now are. To think they were easy to knock off only a few years ago...
