Project National Dex UU Victim of the Week - Week 24: Scolipede

reserving galar weezing

110_2-gif.286951

Weezing-Galar @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 208 Def / 48 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Bomb
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
- Defog

Submitting this as a check

Galarian Weezing's supreme Physical bulk + Poison typing allows it to comfortably take boosted Frustration / Return from Mega Altaria. Levitate makes it immune to Earthquake (obviously...) and Weezing has enough Special bulk to take uninvested Fire Blasts. Speed allows it to speed creep common Melmetal so you're able to Burn them with Will-O-Wisp. Pain Split allows you to sustain yourself throughout the match and Defog is epic since our team lacks good removal sometimes.

0 SpA Altaria-Mega Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Weezing-Galar: 115-136 (34.4 - 40.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 SpA Weezing-Galar Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 4- SpD Altaria-Mega: 182-216 (62.5 - 74.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

I was going to submit Shuca Berry Gbro but this thing get 2HKOed by EQ and it needs full investment to OHKO Mega Alt with Sludge Bomb :[

Gbro really good Defense let it take a +1 Earthquake from Mega Altaria and OHKO back with Acid Downpour.

4 SpA Slowbro-Galar Acid Downpour (175 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4- SpD Altaria-Mega: 402-474 (138.1 - 162.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Pretty self explanatory. You wall every move the cloud bird throws at you and if they really want to kill you they are going to have to risk a burn ad enough speed to outspeed spore loom.

Annoys the shit out of altaria as sludge bomb poisons hurt, it can put it to sleep and can stall its fire blasts out especially as they can miss.

Pretty simple, Altaria needs +3 to have a roll to OHKO Melmetal and DIB obviously blows away any Altaria. Unfortunately it is only a check since Fire Blast does 2HKO.

Since this malt doesn't have facade, standard quag easily counters it and slowly wears it down with burns and eqs

With 3 Votes on Melmetal for check and an even vote for counter, my own vote will go to Moltres. With that, congrats to 3MoreMinutes and Nezloe for winning this week's round! Your submissions will be added to the Hall of Fame shortly.

Let's move onto the next one. This week's Victim will be none other than Rotom-Heat!

Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Overheat
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Nasty Plot turns Rotom-Heat into a potent wallbreaker and progress maker in the current metagame. Making quick work out of its auspicious typing to fry common defensive staples into oblivion after a boost.

What tools do you have at your disposal that can help dismantle this corrupted phantom oven?
Deadline is February 20th 10pm GMT +8, Good luck.
sidenote: jiyn ik you're trolling but make sure to vote for someone else's submission if you want your votes to count next time

- Outrage
- Toxic/Iron Tail

zydog is one of the only mons that resists both of rotom-h's stabs and isn't threatened by hp grass. It also easily threatens an ohko with tarrows unlike other ground types looking to volt block rotom-h.

252 Atk Choice Band Zygarde-10% Thousand Arrows vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Rotom-Heat: 696-820 (288.7 - 340.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Rotom-Heat Overheat vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Zygarde-10%: 105-123 (42.1 - 49.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Rotom-Heat Hidden Power Grass vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Zygarde-10%: 65-77 (26.1 - 30.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

Even though this is by definition considered a counter, it can't switch in more than 2 times, so having this on a team otherwise swept by rotom-h isn't that great of an idea.

A counter as reuni tanks even +4 overheat, can knock its boots off and can 2hko it with 2 psyshocks or future sight which forces it out otherwise it dies. Rotom-h even if it sets up on the turn reuni comes in, it has to attempt to get to +4 and overheat reuni without having any prior chip and not getting 2hko'ed in the process. Rotom-h is going to get chipped throught a game making it so the 2hko is guaranteed while reuni can keep itself healthy and cripple it by removing its boots or threatening a 2hko with psyshock that happens after any form of chip happens on rotom

Zygarde-10%'s Thousand Arrows are perfect in a situation against Rotom-Heat due to it bypassing Levitate. Zygarde-10% is immune to Electric, one of Rotom-Heat's STAB typings and resists Fire the other STAB typing. Hidden Power Grass is too weak regardless of it's neutral damage. Zygarde-10% can be swapped in onto Rotom-Heat since it doesn't take much damage when it's unboosted, even if Rotom-Heat is boosted with Nasty Plot, Zygarde-10% survives all of its moves.

ZyDog is already reserved for the next 24 hours.

Submitting this as a counter

You eat a hit even if Rotom-Heat is at +2 if you need to switch into it. Being faster and carrying Taunt means you deny Rotom-Heat from any setup, and Pressure makes it so Overheat is a lot less spammable for it. Cosmic Power means you can boost yourself if Rotom-Heat has already set up a Nasty Plot, meaning that (unless Thunderbolt para hax) you should pretty much always win.

Possibly the most based mon in the tier, Rhyperior is able to take even a +2 HP Grass and force out Rotom-Heat with a Stone Edge. You also get to click rocks sometimes. Almost getting 2HKO'd by HP Grass means this is only a check, it can switch in once on any move though.
