NFE Nasty Plot Girafarig [GP 0/1]

UMPL Champion
[SET]
Nasty Plot (Girafarig) @ Eviolite
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Psychic
- Hyper Voice
- Thunderbolt / Substitute

[SET COMMENTS]
Girafarig is a premier setup threat thanks to it's strong offensive typing and blistering speed, tying with Misdreavus and only being immediately threatened offensively by Vigoroth, Frogadier, and Raboot. It's solid bulk and immunity to Ghost-type and Grass-type attacks via Sap Sipper give it plenty of opportunities to setup and unleash Nasty Plot boosted attacks. Hyper Voice and Psychic hit nearly the entire tier for neutral damage. Thunderbolt is Girafarigs strongest move to hit Steel-types such as Tinkatuff and Pawniard, very easily becoming overwhelming with Knock Off and hazard support. Substitute allows Girafarig to take advantage of passive Pokemon such as Quaxwell and Dunsparce while also potentially preventing status from the likes of Misdreavus and Drakloak.

Girafarig can flexibly fit into faster and slower team archetypes and requires minimal specialized support. Thwackey and Ivysaur make excellent partners as they force in shared checks to Girafarig such as Tinkatuff and Hisuian Sliggoo and punish them with Knock Off, the latter can also pivot into setup opportunities with U-Turn while the former acts as an important secondary defensive check to Thwackey, which can still cripple Girafarig with Knock Off. Tinkatuff is another exceptional teammate as it compresses Stealth Rock, Knock Off for opposing Steel-types, and Thunder Wave for nuisances to Girafarig like Vigoroth and Misdreavus in one slot. Dedicated Knock Off absorbers such as Thief Koffing and Pawniard are appreciated as ways to take advantage of an otherwise very hard to punish move. Lastly, Marenie is worth a mention as, despite it's passivity, it has a very comfortable time checking revenge killers like Vigoroth, Pawniard and Raboot and can soft check Hisuian Sliggoo, who all form sizable offensive threats when they come in on Girafarig.

Other Options
=============

While weaker, Psychic Noise can punish Vigoroth and Dunsparce switching in by preventing them from healing accumulated chip damage. Psyshock is an option against opposing Calm Mind users such as Dunsparce and is the strongest available move against Hisuian Sliggoo. On the Choice Specs set, Future Sight is a notable option to brute force progress.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Knock Off Users**: Without Eviolite, Girafarig has a lot more trouble finding chances to setup. Vigoroth is a particularly fearsome threat as it outspeeds Girafarig and has a reasonable time taking hits from it long term due to Slack Off.

**Steel-types**: Tinkatuff, Hisuian Sliggoo and Pawniard all resist Girafarigs STAB options and can threaten it with status, powerful attacks or their own setup.

**Fast Revenge Killers**: Naturally fast Pokemon like Raboot, Drakloak, Pikachu and Choice Scarfers like Frogadier and Monferno can force out Girafarig with the threat of powerful attacks or disruptive moves like Switcheroo.

**Thunder Wave Users**: Misdreavus, Drakloak and Tinkatuff can neuter Girafarig with Paralysis and allow slower threats like Pignite and Piloswine to trade favorably into it.

**Encore Users**: Passive Pokemon such as a Tinkatuff and Quaxwell can still prevent a sweep by locking Girafarig into Nasty Plot or an attack that is easier to pivot around.

Hyper Voice and Psychic hit nearly the entire tier for neutral damage. Substitute also allows Girafarig to take advantage of Tinkaton and other passive Pokemon such as Quaxwell and Dunsparce while potentially preventing status from the likes of Misdreavus and Drakloak. Tinkatuff not Tinkaton, i also wouldnt say it takes great advantage of Tinkatuff because Knock breaks sub, and it has Encore and Twave to slow it down or stop it

Vigoroth and Raboot are scary revenge killers, can talk about teammates to help versus them (knock absorbers can be looped into this too like koffing).
