Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

hey no worries. i realize it's my timing. it's just frustrating going for hours and hours and not getting anything different ya know? thanks, i'll bump up the delay

Trust me, I know. I kept hitting +2 above my delay for 6 hours straight. I was so mad, I accidentally tossed my DS into my laptop screen. >.>

Since I heard that two of the movable spots on Spinda Painter are off by 1 pixel, I was trying to find the spread I hit without actually using the Painter. The Spinda I hatched was Lax and male, so I filtered the spreadsheet by nature and gender value (>= 128), and only "Yes" for the 70% column since the parent Spinda had different OTs. The "Base Calibration" field seems to make much more of a difference than just removing the number of frames you put in that field though. I tried the values that other people have gotten: 19, 20, and 24. With 19, the first suitable spread was on frame 64. With 20, it was on frame 68. With 24, it was on frame 15. In each case, the next one wasn't for at least 90 frames. I read that the game takes 16 frames to generate your egg when you press the D-pad for your 255th step. With a Base Calibration value of 24, I'm 1 frame off...

Am I on the right track to finding my Base Calibration, or do I need to use the Spinda Painter? If I do, then could someone please explain which spots are off and in which direction I need to shift those two spots to get the correct PID?

I'm not sure if you're doing it wrong, but I would try Spinda Painter just to make sure. And, I'm sorry, I'm not sure what parts are off. You could try Spinda Painter, then use your results in eepid and see if you get a logical calibration value (when I used spinda painter, mine was like, 100 something, so I knew I used Spinda Painter incorrectly used). If it is unusual, try slightly adjusting Spinda Painter and see if you get something.

But, I would just transferr the Spinda to 4th gen. and uploaded it to Pokecheck to find its PID.

It's the bottom row of the right ear spot (your left). That shouldn't mess you up too much anyway. Spinda painter is still extremely reliable, and your best option for calibration. When using it, try to look at the general shape of Spinda's body color pixels and how they're covered by the spots. The swirls on his ears help in positioning the spots too. Just don't use the bottom row of the right ear spot to help position because it's off by one pixel (you'll know if it's to the left or right once you use it enough).

Thanks. I was under the assumption that this error was something I would have to adjust for (by moving the right ear spot 1 pixel to the left or right of where it actually is), but I guess not. Placing the spots exactly where they are on the sprite (to the best of my ability at least) gave me a PID that eepid associates with a frame time of 20, which I know other people have gotten. The PID from Spinda Painter is the exact PID from eepid's test 1, and looking at the spreadsheet, that PID spread has the right nature, an appropriate gender value, and a "Yes" in the "70%" column. Looks like I did it! :)

What are you trying to capture\hatch?: Metagross, Attempting to breed 31/31/31/8/31/31 or 31/31/31/21/31/31 .

What is your target seed and frame?: I'm doing this on Emerald. I am very frustrated at my Target Frame..

15117 (Emerald SPLITS) - 31/B/A/21/31/A

9489 (Emerald ALTERNATE) - 31/B/A/8/31/A

My parent IV's are on the correct position.

If you tried and failed, what results did you get?:

When targeting 15117 (Emerald SPLITS):

Hitted 15117 TWICE but the spread was on Emerald (ALTERNATE).... very frustrating.

But when targeting 9489 (Emerald ALTERNATE):

I keep hitting spreads from Emerald (SPLITS)... what the heck.

I've successfully rng'ed a 31/4/31/31/31/31 before, and twice. It was a Modest Gengar And Modest Alakazam. Now i'm doing a physical Spread and failing miserably. Any tips on hitting SPLITS or ALTERNATE? You do know how "fun" it is to wait 4+ minutes and Hatch a freaking Beldum right? ...

So help would be appreciated. Thanks!

can someone explain to me the process of hatching a perfect poke with a certain Hidden power? i know how to hatch perfect pokes, but don't see anything that corresponds to hidden power. thanks

Now that I've successfully calibrated for egg PIDs in Emerald, how do I create and use the timer? Do I just put my target frame (picked from the spreadsheet after Base Calibration was inputted) into EonTimer? I understand that I'm supposed to take the 255th step when the timer runs out, but when do I start the timer? I'm guessing it's when I select "Continue."

On Eon Timer for the 3rd gen tab, all you have to do to set up your timer, like you said, is input your target frame. Then, notice how there's a "First Timer". At then end of the first timer, you need to soft reset (A+B+start+select). I usually just set my first timer to 0 so I can just SR right away.

Then you take your 255th step at the end of the second timer.

In HG/SS (and possibly DPP too), does anyone else notice a few minor changes with the RNG for wild captures when their DS is plugged in and charging? For example, when I do that my delay will switch from even to odd or vice-versa, and sweet scenting will only advance the frame by 1 although fishing will still advance it by 3.

Apologies if this is an old topic of discussion or if I just read the results from RNG Reporter wrong or something, but I just noticed it. lol

If you're consistently hitting alternate, try resaving. That seems to help swap between Breeding Methods.

How do you reset and start the timer at the same time? I find it easier to enter 5 seconds as the pre-reset time.

Pressing the space button on my laptop starts the timer, so I hold my DS/GBA with 3/4 buttons pressed, then with my pinkie I push down on the space bar and at the same time I press the 4th button with my thumb. :P

Is it normal to find that my Diamond keeps jumping from odd to even delays?

Is it normal to find that my Diamond keeps jumping from odd to even delays?
My pearl version does this, to my great frustration. >:(

I wish there was an explanation, as I have no cart inserted nor do I scroll down the menu screen. So I guess it is normal, for D/P/Pt. I always preferred HeartGold & SoulSilver over them anyway, as they don't jump between even and odd delays.

Diamond and Pearl do this. Platinum is strictly odd or strictly even based on whether or not there is a Pokémon GBA game inserted in slot 2.

They take a certain encounter slot IIRC. One for current day, another for previous day. Idk which ones though.

I'm on a DSi. I don't remember this ever happening on SoulSilver, though.

Edit: For the record, it hasn't happened since yesterday evening, but it sure was annoying.
