Hey guys, this is my first RMT here, and since ORAS was just recently released there is a bunch of new/improved threats in NU. There are too many to be named but I wanted to abuse some of them, and had some pretty good success doing so:
Teambuilding Process:
First off, when I heard that adaptability Dragalge was released I was incredibly excited to abuse it so I added it to the team.
Since I had a specially offensive wallbreaker in Dragalge, I wanted a physical one as well. Hence my decision on adding Pangoro to the team.
Next, I just wanted to use belly drum Slurpuff since it got drain punch. nuff said.
I originally had M-Altaria here, but it didn't really fit with the team, so I changed it to M-Lopunny. This change was huge to this team's success.
I was weak to a lot of stuff, especially the new fast megas (Scep, Beedrill etc.) and I saw a post in the tiering form about scarf Jynx answering a lot of those problems, so I decided to Check it out.
Finally, I saw I didn't have rocks (or a way to get rid of, or prevent them) and every team needs this. I was feeling un-creative, so I used sash lead Archeops.
The Squad:
Moneca Webby (Dragalge) (F) @ Draco Plate
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Sludge Wave
- Focus Blast
- Haze
So to explain the set. Draco=Nuke. Click it. It gets amazing coverage between Fighting, Dragon, and Poison. Draco Plate allows for you to feign the specs, which gives free kills a lot of the time. It also tends to lure in puffs looking to set up. The idea is you haze on the belly drum, neutralizing their boost, and also eliminating your own Spatk drop after the draco is dropped.
Karl Marx (Pangoro) @ Choice Band
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Gunk Shot
- Parting Shot
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off
Pangoro has always been a solid mon in XY NU, but with the release of Knock+Drain it can begin to utilize its true potential. This particular one went from taunt SD to LO to Band. I still have trouble deciding which I prefer, though in general he just hits like a truck while his decent speed tier lets him outspeed most prominent walls and deal massive chunks of damage.
Power Puff (Slurpuff) (M) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Drain Punch
- Belly Drum
- Return
Click belly. Watch things die... This thing only has a few checks, mostly bulky poison types that Dragalge loves switching into. Or those poison types just die after a few switch-ins to rocks. Additionally the steel types that could previously wall it no longer can, and also Drain Punch makes it less susceptible to priority.
Some relevant calcs:
+6 252+ Atk Slurpuff Return vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Weezing: 223-263 (66.7 - 78.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
+6 252+ Atk Slurpuff Return vs. 252 HP / 224+ Def Vileplume: 288-339 (81.3 - 95.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
Pun (Lopunny) (F) @ Lopunnite
Ability: Limber
EVs: 4 Def / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- High Jump Kick
- Return
- Baton Pass
After getting wrecked by this thing enough times, I decided to add it to my team. In my opinion it's the best mon in the tier. It has no switch-ins that can't be dry passed into Dragalge or Jynx, making it an incredibly versatile and dangerous threat. It's also my answer to a lot of slower scarfers and allows me to beat lead Archeops 90% of the time :]
Nikki Minaj (Jynx) (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Ice Beam
- Psyshock
- Trick
- Focus Blast
My saftey net. It KO's almost all the new megas after rocks, and also kills Dragalge and Pangoro with ease. A lot of people don't expect it to be scarfed, which really helps it in in revenge killing capabilities. It's weak to rocks, and I don't have hazard control. But it still warrants a slot on the team due to how necessary it is in some match ups. Especially against offense.
Cocoa Puffs (Archeops) (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Defeatist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock
- Endeavor
- Head Smash
Gets rocks up. Prevents rocks. Weakens shit. Good mon. Blame tennis. But in all reality this mon is really nice. I don't always get the ideal situation with it (like when lop leads against it) but it does exactly what it needs to do for the team.
Threat List:
Lopunny: I can easily revenge with Jynx, but every time it comes in I have to sac.
Slurpuff: Opposing belly sets are a huge problem if I'm not in with Dragalge to lure it and kill it.
Will add more as I see fit :S
In conclusion this is a pretty solid offense team that's fun to mess around with. It definitely has its flaws, and won't be fully legal in a few weeks, but I'll enjoy it while I can, and I hope you guys do as well.
