Moltres burns the competition for Flying teams! Moltres is a great pick due to its neutrality to Ice and Steel, amazing utility in Will-O-Wisp, and access to pivoting, which allows it to bring in its offensive teammates like Choice Band Dragonite safely. Flamethrower deals with Frosmoth, Corviknight, and Scizor, while Will-O-Wisp weakens physical threats like Mamoswine and Iron Hands. U-turn allows for Moltres to not only do damage but also pivot out of checks to it like Air Balloon Heatran and Toxapex to allow safe entry for the Landorus formes to deal with them. Scorching Sands can be run over U-turn to handle Ceruledge, which otherwise uses Moltres as setup fodder. Flame Body punishes most physical threats, notably Meowscarada using Triple Axel, rendering it useless if it gets burned. The given EV spread allows for Moltres to outspeed Adamant Mamoswine and weaken it with Will-O-Wisp while maximizing bulk. Articuno is a premier partner for Moltres, as it tanks special hits from Choice Specs Greninja and Dragapult; it also deals with them easily with Freeze-Dry. Choice Scarf Landorus-T is not only immune to Electric, but it also deals with Choice Specs Flutter Mane and Iron Moth for Moltres.
