Rules:
Mix and Mega is an Ubers-based metagame that allows you to use any transformation item on any permitted pokémon. When that Pokémon then transforms, it undergoes the same stat modifications that the original user of that item does, along with its ability and any type changes that the altered form has compared to the base species. Primarily this takes the form of the Gen 6 Mega Evolution mechanic, with the usual restrictions of one per team removed, but also included are the Red and Blue Primal Orbs as well as the Gen 8 Rusted items.

FAQ:
Q: How many Pokémon may I mega evolve on a team?
A: You may Mega Evolve any number of Pokemon on the same team.

Q: How do Mega Stones that add types function on Pokémon that are given a secondary type equivalent to their primary type?
A: If you use a Mega Stone that gives you a secondary typing that's the same as your primary typing, you no longer have a secondary typing (ie: Altarianite Togekiss).

Q: Why does my Darmanitan-Zen revert to its base form upon Mega Evolution?
A: Mega Evolutions cannot be based off of alternate in-game form changes, and hence they revert to their original forme.

Q: Can Knock Off, Trick, e.t.c. be used to remove a transformation item from its holder?
A: A Mega Stone cannot in any way removed from its holder if the holder can Mega Evolve with it, regardless of whether the holder is the "correct" species or not. The same goes for the Primal Orbs, Ogerpon Masks, Sinnoh Crystals, and Rusted Items.

Q: What happened to Aggronite?
A: Aggronite remains in the metagame and has had its original mechanics restored. It now once again gives pokemon a secondary steel typing.

Q: What about native Mega Evolutions (like Tyranitar @ Tyranitarite)?
A: Native Mega Evolutions are only allowed if the Pokémon in question isn't restricted from Mega Evolving AND if the Mega Stone is allowed.

Dragonite is back, and this time without Ho-Oh to stop it. I think it'll be broken this time around with just how powerful -atespeed seems to be, and its coverage is more freed up to hit whatever it wants. We'll see, I could also see other -atespeeders like Lucario and Arcanine being fantastic as well.

This mon actually abuses Diancite pretty well, thanks to its base form bulk. Tablets of Ruin is also a pretty great ability, and it has a decent offensive type, however this mon doesn't really have coverage so I made a mixed set for it.

I'm really hoping this is a glitch but if not, like 900 paradox formes should go on the watchlist/be discussed for a quickban because that's insane.

Probably the most broken mon atm. hits like a truck and has an amazing speed tier. Tera doesnt do any favours to its oppo too, being able to change to ice/grass to hit ground types or specifically gastro for the latter or steel. Also enables a lot of quark drive mons. There arent much defensive answers for it either. Hoping for it to not stay for long.

U wont see it much on the ladder cuz of how popular(and borked) miraidon is but i feel like this would soon follow its footsteps if mirai goes first. Amazing offensive stats coupled with u-turn has a history of being problematic in mnm and with defensive stuff being nerfed this gen , it got even better. Very few defensive answers (like arc / hippo /alt dnite depending on the tera type).

Nothings changed from early gen8 to gen9. The most viable defensive defogger and pivot , p much holds ur team together and imo is the best spd wall we have atm.

WATCHLIST / POTENTIAL SUSPECT:-

• Iron Bundle: being used alongside miraidon a lot for the quarkdrive boost but its easily amazing on its own. We dont have much spd walls atm(most prominent being corvi and then other sablenite mons like gastro) which this takes advantage of. Speed tier is godly and the stab combo is great.

• Pidgeotite : Similar problems as with iron bundle and miraidon, not a lot of spd walls. Pult , Iron Valient and Gholdengo are some of its users and altho neither have shown to be on the level of above three. Def shouldnt be the first priority imo

Meta Observations:-

• Arcanine seems the best of the three pixie -ate users due to the utility it provides + howl/double edge both have its uses(howl looks a bit better as it easily sets up). From the other two im liking lucario more and altho dnite has its utility due to its dragon/fairy combo and roost, ive mostly been disappointed with its dd sets.
• Pinsirite Great Tusk is a great hazard removal mon.
• Having a ground type mon is p much mandatory atm. Hippo is looking like the best in terms of defensive wall but i've seen gastro and latiosite clodsire do their bits.
• Do not like offensive screamtail at all. I've tried audinite/ampharosite as my spd wall and have had moderate success.
• Iron treads with Lucarionite or Aero is a decent rocks setter and an amazing offensive check to -ate speed.
• Iron moth and Roaring Moon seems to have potential and should be explored more. Same with Magnezone

So i laddered up to top 5 because i've been having a ton of fun with mnm this gen and wanted to share a set ive been loving.


Scream Tail @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Protosynthesis

Gardevoirite Scream Tail has put in way more work that I expected. It has great natural Special Bulk and is pretty fast post mega. The last move can be pretty much anything you want, I've tried Thunder Wave, Wish, and Stealth Rock depending on the rest of the team, and all are good options.

Also would really urge the council to consider action on Miraidon, it's is very strong and Pokemon who might have been able to wall it like Blissey has been nerfed badly this gen. Tera also makes it very hard to consistently revenge it can just change to Steel to resist your Extreme Speed and nuke you with Tera Blast or any of its other super strong moves.

Miraidon Has Been Quickbanned! Iron Bundle has been Restricted from holding Mega Stones!

Though their stats are not exceptional by the standards of Mix and Mega, the cover legendaries for this gen have been under scrutiny. Between a solid movepool, good starting ability, free item slot and ability to make use of Terastalization, they have the potential to be exceptionally powerful, and they have lived up to that potential. Of the two, Miraidon was considered the more dangerous. With electric Terastalization, a Choice Specs Electrodrift very nearly 2hkoes standard sablenite Blissey, Mix and Mega's strongest special wall, and almost anything it can't directly 2hko finds itself in range after a powerful volt switch. Immunities are little help, either, as Miraidon can make use of Draco Meteor to eliminate most Ground types or Sceptilite users. While it does have a few hard answers such as Sceptilite Scream Tail, Bulky Altarianite Dragonite, and specially defensive Audinite Hippowdon, these Pokemon are not especially otherwise viable and may have difficulty coping should Miraidon pick a Tera type like Steel to bypass them. Terastalization also allows Miraidon to give would-be revenge killers like Dragonite or Arcanine a hard time by removing its weakness to Fairy-type attacks, and comes at little opportunity cost as Miraidon is one of approximately 3 viable pokemon that can make use of Terastalization. Taken together, Miraidon is simply too strong for the current Mix and Mega metagame.


Iron Bundle, meanwhile, makes its splash along more metagame-specific lines. With Pidgeotite, Lucarionite, or Absolite, Iron Bundle becomes an extremely powerful and incredibly fast attacker. Outside of a handful of Venusaurite users and Blissey, nothing in the metagame can safely handle ice and water attacks of this magnitude backed by freeze dry. To make matters worse, Iron Bundle can pivot out with Flip Turn or U-turn, deny its checks recovery with Taunt, or trap and wear down blissey with Whirlpool at little cost to its general functioning. Given the limitations of the counterplay and incredible ease of use it posseses, Iron Bundle will no longer be allowed to mega evolve.

Terastalization was also considered, but ultimately was not suspected at this time due to action being taken on Miraidon. We will be keeping an eye on it - and Koraidon - for the near future, as well as any other broken sets that might develop.

Miraidon Has Been Quickbanned! Iron Bundle has been Restricted from holding Mega Stones!

Though their stats are not exceptional by the standards of Mix and Mega, the cover legendaries for this gen have been under scrutiny. Between a solid movepool, good starting ability, free item slot and ability to make use of Terastalization, they have the potential to be exceptionally powerful, and they have lived up to that potential. Of the two, Miraidon was considered the more dangerous. With electric Terastalization, a Choice Specs Electrodrift very nearly 2hkoes standard sablenite Blissey, Mix and Mega's strongest special wall, and almost anything it can't directly 2hko finds itself in range after a powerful volt switch. Immunities are little help, either, as Miraidon can make use of Draco Meteor to eliminate most Ground types or Sceptilite users. While it does have a few hard answers such as Sceptilite Scream Tail, Bulky Altarianite Dragonite, and specially defensive Audinite Hippowdon, these Pokemon are not especially otherwise viable and may have difficulty coping should Miraidon pick a Tera type like Steel to bypass them. Terastalization also allows Miraidon to give would-be revenge killers like Dragonite or Arcanine a hard time by removing its weakness to Fairy-type attacks, and comes at little opportunity cost as Miraidon is one of approximately 3 viable pokemon that can make use of Terastalization. Taken together, Miraidon is simply too strong for the current Mix and Mega metagame.


Iron Bundle, meanwhile, makes its splash along more metagame-specific lines. With Pidgeotite, Lucarionite, or Absolite, Iron Bundle becomes an extremely powerful and incredibly fast attacker. Outside of a handful of Venusaurite users and Blissey, nothing in the metagame can safely handle ice and water attacks of this magnitude backed by freeze dry. To make matters worse, Iron Bundle can pivot out with Flip Turn or U-turn, deny its checks recovery with Taunt, or trap and wear down blissey with Whirlpool at little cost to its general functioning. Given the limitations of the counterplay and incredible ease of use it posseses, Iron Bundle will no longer be allowed to mega evolve.

Terastalization was also considered, but ultimately was not suspected at this time due to action being taken on Miraidon. We will be keeping an eye on it - and Koraidon - for the near future, as well as any other broken sets that might develop.

Even so it is an excellent Lead. With U turn you escape from the Dragon/Fairy or what kind of mega has the rival. Scarf has to outpace almost everyone in speed.

Kilowattrel has been restricted from holding stones in Mix and Mega!

Though extremely frail, Kilowattrel's lack of bulk is not enough to hold it back in Mix and Mega. With Pidgeotite, it comes in at 145 speed with 170 special attack, and thanks to No Guard is able to safely make use of powerful STAB moves like Thunder and Hurricane without risking a miss. In matchups where it cannot stay in, or simply seeks to take advantage of a would-be switchin, Kilowattrel can make use of U-turn or an extremely powerful Volt Switch to pivot out, chipping the opponent and earning it momentum. While it doesn't have much in the way of coverage, it does also have a handful of tools it can use to great effect, such as making use of Endeavor to cripple would-be answers like Sablenite Clodsire and Blissey, weather ball to make use of Koraidon's sun, roost to allow it to switch in on resisted hits from Pokemon like Corviknight, or Charge Beam to increase its damage output. As if these weren't enough, Kilowattrel also has access to competitive prior to mega evolution, which allows it to punish defog, intimidate, or Chilling Water with +2 special attack. While there are a few ways to hard counter it, such as certain niche Sceptilite Pokemon, altogether, the bird has been judged too powerful to stay around.

Revival Blessing, our newly functioning addition to Pawmot's movepool that brings back fainted Pokemon, Gholdengo, and Koraidon were also up for vote this slate, but did not receive the necessary votes to be quickbanned. Something failing to be banned now does not preclude action taken in the future, either by council vote or suspect test.

Find the koraidon vote a bit weird considering two of the council members voted abstain. If few council members need time with the new meta (Which is perfectly fine), i think suspect testing korai after this announcement wouldve made perfect sense.
Koraidon has established itself as meta's premier physical attacker and i think despite its popularity, its very easy to lose against it. There arent many defensive checks to the band set in the first place which it can circumvent around through terrastallization. Combinations like sable hippo + alt dnite can lose to tera type iron sets while poison tera can handle arcanine. Whats more is that it can very viably run non choice sets like muscle band poison/steel tera (something ive personally used and have had good success with), sd with fire tera, LO with steel etc. I think the most definitive answer to koraidon is manec slowbro and venusaurite clodsire. While i think the latter is just a bad set , slowbro once mega evolved can still get worn down through cycles of u-turn combined with offensive pressure from other mon altho i would admit it requires a lot of right predictions.
Koraidon do have offensive answers as well , as despite its speed tier its slower than dragapult , absolite iron moth , chien-pao and roaring moon. However , choice scarf koraidon sets have also started to gain usage recently to counter this.
I also hate koraidon's influence in game as it basically dictates the pace of many games owing to when and what will it tera into and the set its gonna reveal. Korai mirror is also a thing where u basically have to bet ur luck on the speed tie.
Overall i think korai asks a lot to be manageable which i feel is unhealthy and i would like for it to be atleast suspect tested and i know a lot of members in the community share a similar thought.

If we had had 2 ban votes and 2 abstains, Koraidon would have been banned. Abstains are not DNB votes, it’s just in this case the votes we had were split 50-50.

i still dont get why anyone is using blissey this gen but even with it around you generally click cc or your tera stab, even if you click fblitz you still have a decent chunk of hp left and being able to actually click it pre-tera is tenfold more useful than tera blast fire

an interesting stall team i saw someone use, i checked the calcs to accurately discern natures. i made 2 changes, i made his corv max spdef bc its role was countering goldo (he used max def impish) and i changed dirge's coverage from earth power/shadow ball (he tried both) to encore to suit its role of handling the espeeders and phys boosters in general, i also changed dirges stone to audinite (he used altarianite and didnt even run hyper voice). its super interesting and has lots of potential, he was very creative but missed some obvious things which is why i made the changes. his team is weak to both non choice Kora and to opposing goldos, obviously due to the nature of his team and his teams weakness he has absolutely no need to run goldo himself. additionaly he relies on mr tesla to set up rocks throughout a game and it cannot recover. from this i have made 2 conclusions, goldo must be exchanged likely with 1 of either the new quag, dondozo w max spdef, or the new jigglypuf. the 2nd conclusion, corv is used soley to handle goldo and is the teams 2nd weakest link and while jigglyscream helps immensely vs kora and with tusk it further weakens his team against goldo, so if goldo is exchanged for jiggles corv should be exchanged for an actually real counter to goldo such as cm modest shado ball blissey or a chi yu variant. i hope this teamstyle may be developed further im excited that alternate playstyles to speed+thwack have popped up since miras ban, the meta is beginning to allow for several playstyles and thats always a good thing. lets all hope gen 8s $#!tshow of a homogenous meta doesnt repeat itself.
