Milotic [QC 3/3] [GP 2/2]

Overview:
  • Just say "its ability, competitive, makes it a great deterrent to common Intimidate users such as Landorus-t"
  • Don't say it can recover off LO damage if its not on both sets
  • 252+ SpA Life Orb Milotic Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Mega Charizard Y in Sun: 187-221 (51.9 - 61.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO <- this is not walling. just say certain grasses and waters
  • Don't mention Icy Wind as it's not even on the main set
Moves:
  • Hydro Pump is the best offensive STAB move, allowing Milotic to do serious damage to most Rock, Ground, and Fire types. Common examples are Mega Diancie, Landorus, and Heatran. -> condense into 1 sentence
  • Recover allows Milotic to have recover 50% of its health - SICK GRAMMAR. say reliable recovery instead of 50% of its health. also say trait instead of ability in case some genius mixes the two up rofl
Set Details:
  • Competitive is the best ability for Milotic because it raises its Special Attack 2 stages every time one of its stats is lowered. There are an abundance of moves and abilities in the doubles OU metagame that are dedicated to lowering opposing Pokemon's stats, namely the moves Snarl and Icy Wind, and the ability Intimidate. -> say it takes advantage of these common moves and cut the part that just c/ps from the dex
  • This ability allows Milotic to take advantage of these strategies and swing the game in your favor - cut this, seems like FLUFF
  • holy shit milos strong
Usage Tips:
  • Don't use "you" when writing this. Keep it 3rd person.
  • cut the last bullet, same reason for the last thing
Team Options:
  • DUDE CHARY DOESNT WALL MILOTIC
  • split the grass and the water types into their own bullets
bulky milo stuff

Set:
  • Slash Icy Wind before Ice Beam. The Speed Control option is nice af for something that's so passive, allowing the more offensive partners to do work.
  • Slash Leftovers in between Sitrus and Goggles. The extra passive recovery can matter a lot in the end game when you're trying to stall out stuff.
Moves:
  • switch ice beam and icy wind's place b/c of the above
  • Same deal with Recover as the above set. Make sure you're not just c/ping the same statement for the same move when you write this up.
Set Details:
  • add lefties
Usage Tips:
  • This more passive Milotic set sucks ass as a lead because its so damn weak, so remove this part
  • don't c/p when youre writing this up
  • Definitely mention Milotic's ability to function as a late game tank that's able to stall out the game. Mention the importance of Scald burns and reliable recovery here.
  • Don't say "keep it alive as long as possible" just note that you can use it as speed control in the mid-game
Team Options:
  • Milotic fits well on bulkier teams that need reliable switchins to stuff as well as reliable recovery
Other Options:
  • Remove the Protect bullet.
  • Add Rocky Helmet to get chip damage on physical attackers like Kangaskhan
  • Maranga Berry to beat things such as Aegislash in the end game
Checks and Counters:
  • With it's poor base 81 speed, Milotic's speed tier isn't very good. <- this sentence is ass
  • **Weather**: Mega Charizard Y and it's sun can totally wall Milotic. The sun halves the damage of Milotic's STAB water attacks and activates Chlorophyll for Venusaur to take out Milotic.

MEGA CHARIZARD Y DOES NOT WALL MILOTIC.

help

on a serious note i agree with quiznos, though his wording sucked ass, just write sun weakens milos water stab which is its best part, and allows weather sweeper venusaur to outrun and do serious damage, and zard y beats milotic in sun because MEGA CHARIZARD Y DOES NOT WALL MILOTIC

252 HP Mega Kangaskhan with Hydro Pump with a competitive boost
nope, +2 188+ SpA Life Orb Milotic Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mega Kangaskhan: 406-477 (98 - 115.2%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO -> just write that it guarantees the OHKO on standard kangaskhans (which would encompass 4hp and the 144 hp kang) -> you could write that it 2hkos standard amoong at +2 w/ hydro pump but you have ice beam for a reason..............

you're the one who made me change the set from the one that did get the 2HKO you sex god

am check comin' through n_n Some of this is a little more on the GP side than the QC side but it doesn't hurt to work on prose etc. before sending it along

Overview
-The sentence about Milotic's speed being underwhelming is both confusing and not really a sentence, but I get what you're trying to say. Maybe rewrite to something like "As a Pokemon that needs to invest in both special attack and bulk in order to be effective, Milotic's base 81 speed stat seems even lower than it is, and holds it back."

Set 1
-Remove (Intimidate Check) as per xzern's suggestion on Skype
-Fix the order that you have everything listed in as per the format in the example skeleton, should be:

name: Offensive Competitive (Intimidate Check)
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Protect
item: Life Orb
ability: Competitive
nature: Modest
evs: 72 HP / 80 Def / 188 SpA / 168 Spe
ivs: 0 Atk

Moves 1
-Reword the sentence about Hydro Pump, right now it seems like Hydro Pump gives it the defensive ability to stay in on them. Maybe use "dents" instead of "checks"?
-Specify that Ice Beam hits the Flying- and Grass-types super effectively, since the current wording suggests that Hydro Pump can't hit them at all and Ice Beam is the only way you can hit either
-The last reasoning for Protect should read ", and let Milotic avoid damage while its partner handles a threat" to avoid making it sound like Milotic's partner can't handle a threat unless Milotic protects

Set Details 1
-No need to describe exactly what Competitive does, that can easily be found in Dex info. Maybe instead the first two sentences could read something like "Competitive allows Milotic to use the opponent's Intimidate or Icy Wind against them by strongly boosting its Special Attack stat."
-Nix the exact amount by which Life Orb raises its attacks, again that's in Dex info
-I don't think you need the specific mention of 4 HP in front of Bisharp or Mega Kangaskhan, but QC might correct me on that. Similarly, I think just +0 and +2 will suffice without specifying that you're referring to Special Attack
-"max attack" in front of Mega Kang is practically redundant, get rid of it

Usage Tips 1
-"Since ..., which makes ...." is pretty weird for a sentence structure. Pick one or the other and roll with it.
-Mention that Milotic is also a good switch in if you don't want the opponent to be able to bring in an Intimidate user, like if you have a boosting physical attacker on the field. You're putting a little too much value on getting the competitive boost with every single switch in, where just threatening the boost is often enough

Team Options 1
-A Physical attacker that isn't a Mega Pokemon might be good to list in the first point, maybe mention Terrak or Lando-T instead of one of the three you have
-Watch the wording on the point about beating Grasses, since at first I thought you were suggesting Ferro or Ludi as good options to beat opposing Grass-types

Set 2
-Again, as per xzern's suggestion, get rid of "(Intimidate Check)"

Moves 2
-Talk about the differences between Icy Wind and Ice Beam, you should explain why certain teams want one and others don't since they're competing for the same moveslot
-No need to mention the exact percent of health that Recover provides, instead talk about why it's a good option specifically for this set (more reliably check Intimidate users, stick around longer, etc)
-Again, the last reasoning for Protect should read ", and let Milotic avoid damage while its partner handles a threat"

Set Details 2
-Explain that Safety Goggles improve its otherwise very dicey matchup against Grasses, otherwise your whole reasoning behind Safety Goggles is just parroting back the item description

Usage Tips 2
-Looks good to me :>

Team Options 2
-The point about beating Washtom and Ferro is again a little confusing, but maybe that's just me

OO
-Maybe clarify which item Milotic uses with the 136 SpA so that people know which set HP Electric fits on
-96 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe is way too many EVs for the scarf set, I'm assuming the Speed should be dropped a little but I guess I don't know
-No need to clarify 1/8 health on the sentence about Rocky Helmet
-Maybe talk about why each of the options in OO isn't good enough for a slash on either set? You're talking them all up and not mentioning their downsides

C&C
-Don't talk about Bisharp investing enough to outspeed Milo when you purposefully mention in the first set that you're EV'ing to be faster than it

Don't implement without checking with QC :]

stamping as an official check, that was good ttree :). specify the 4hp in front of bisharp and mega kang because you arent guaranteed to kill one with more bulk investment.

also that first sentence in speed checks and counters still blows, fix that

As always, never implement an amcheck unless it's approved, as it may be very shitty.

EDIT: Almost done...
EDIT 2: OK... I'm done...

I'd suggest reviewing Smogon's Sixth Gen Grammar Standards.

Hydro Pump is Milotic's best offensive STAB move, as it lets Milotic do serious damage to most Rock-[add hyph], Ground-[add hyph] and Fire-[add hyph](rem space)types,(rem comm) such as Mega Diancie, Landorus, and Heatran. Hydro Pump will also do does good damage to neutral opponents foes. Ice Beam is a staple coverage move for [u-case]Water-[add hyph](rem space)types, allowing Milotic to hit Flying-[add hyph] and Grass-[add hyph](rem space)[l-case]types such as Thundurus and Amoonguss super effectively. Recover allows Milotic to have a reliable way to recover it's its health, a trait missed out on by many other Water-[add hyph](rem space)types, namely,[add comm] Suicune and Keldeo. Protect is a staple move in the Doubles metagame, as and it allows Milotic to scout for moves, stall out opposing speed control, and let Milotic avoid taking damage while its partner handles[sing.] a threat.

Set Details

Competitive is the best ability for Milotic because it strongly sharply (pokeword) boosts Milotic's Special Attack every time one of the Pokemon's Milotic's stats is lowered, allowing it the Pokemon to take advantage of certain opposing abilities and moves such as Intimidate and Snarl. There are is an abundance of moves and abilities in the Doubles OU metagame that are dedicated to lowering an opposing Pokemon's stats,[add comm] such as the moves Snarl and Icy Wind,[rem comm] and the ability Intimidate, all of which will activate Milotic's Competitive. Life Orb increases Milotic's damage output, giving it some much needed extra power. The Special Attack EV'[rem apos]s provided allow Milotic to OHKO 4 HP Bisharp with Hydro Pump while at +0 Special Attack, and to OHKO 4 HP Mega Kangaskhan with Hydro Pump while at +2 Special Attack. The Speed EV'[rem apos]s given let Milotic outspeed neutral nature,[add comm] maximum Speed Pokemon with base 70 [ucase]Speed, which is the standard for Bisharp. such as the standard Bisharp. The remaining HP and Defense EVs allow Milotic to survive a Return from Adamant Mega Kangaskhan.

Usage Tips
========

Milotic is a good option to choose as a lead if the opponent has an Intimidate user. Since Landorus-Therian is a very common lead in the Doubles OU metagame, Milotic is a safe lead against many teams with Landorus-Therian. There are 2 two different situations in which it is optimal to switch in Milotic. One situation is when the user has two threatening physical attackers on the field,[rem comm] and the opponent is going to bring in their his Intimidate user to try and neuter their Attack stats of those physical attackers. The other switch in situation for Milotic is when your opponent is going to go for use Icy Wind or Snarl, which Milotic can switch in on, take very little damage from, and raise it's Special Attack by 2 two stages with. Remember to take into account that Milotic will only be affected by Intimidate if it comes onto the field before the Intimidate user.

Team Options
========

Milotic is a Pokemon that requires a decent amount of support, so there are a good amount of many (the alternative was 'is a good amount') teammate options to keep in mind when using Milotic. For starters, Pokemon that benefit from not having to fear Intimidate such as Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Diancie, and Landorus-Therian are great partners for Milotic, such as Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Diancie, and Landorus-Therian. Many [u-case]Grass-[add hyph]type Pokemon,[rem comma] such as Ferrothorn and Ludicolo,[rem comma] are good checks to Milotic, so having a Pokemon to beat these them is also beneficial. A good choice to fulfill this role is Talonflame, as it beats both of the aforementioned checks and benefits from Milotic's deterrence of Intimidate. Opposing [ucase]Water-[hyph]types, like such as Keldeo and Rotom-Wash,[rem comma] will also cause trouble for Milotic, as they resist both of it'[rem apos]s attacks. Good options to for beating opposing Water-[hyph][lcase]types are Grass-[hyph][lcase]types such as Serperior or and Electric-[hyph]types like such as Thundurus or and Zapdos. Lastly, Milotic will benefit heavily from the speed control provided by Tailwind. Good Tailwind users to partner with Milotic include Talonflame, Zapdos, and Latios.

Moves
========

Scald is the most reliable STAB move for bulky Milotic, as it has 100% accuracy, decent power, and has a 30% chance to burn the target. Icy Wind provides speed control by lowering the [ucase]Speed stats of both opponents by 1 one stage. It can also do good spread damage when Milotic has a Competitive boost. Ice Beam is a good coverage option for Milotic, making it able to letting it hit Flying-[hyph] and Grass-[hyph]types such as Thundurus and Amoonguss for super effective damage. Icy Wind should be used on teams that require the [lcase]speed [lcase]control granted by the move, but Ice Beam is a stronger option on teams that already have speed control options in place. Recover gives Milotic reliable recovery, allowing it to stick around longer and continue to provide a check to opposing Intimidate users and speed control. Protect is a staple move for most Pokemon in the Doubles metagame, allowing Milotic to scout for moves, stall out opposing speed control, and avoid taking damage while its partner handles a threat.

Set Details
========

The Special Attack EVs given 2HKO Mega Kangaskhan when Milotic has +2 Special Attack from a Competitive boost and OHKO Landorus-Therian with Ice Beam when Milotic is unboosted without a Special Attack boost. The Speed EV's EVs let Milotic outspeed all forms of Rotom formes with no lacking [ucase]Speed investment. Then, Milotic is given the maximum amount of HP EV's EVs, with the rest put into Defense, to maximize Milotic's its bulk. Sitrus Berry is an item option that allows Milotic to recover 25% of it's its health without using a turn to [ucase]Recover, which can help with it's its longevity, especially against Mega Kangaskhan due to it's its Parental Bond ability. Leftovers is another item that gives Milotic permanent passive recovery, which can help later in the game as Milotic attempts to stall out opposing Pokemon. Another option for an item is Safety Goggles, which grants Milotic an immunity to Spore and allows it to ignore redirection from Rage Powder, allowing Milotic to improve , improving its matchup against opposing Grass types by avoiding letting it avoid sleep and attacking attack its intended target.

Usage Tips
========
Switching Milotic in on A[ucase] situation where an Intimidate user is going to come in on the opponent's side of the field is a good opportunity for Milotic to get a [ucase]Competitive boost. Milotic can also switch in on an Icy Wind or a Snarl,[rem comma] and gain a Competitive boost that way. Milotic getting +2 special attack can turn the Pokemon At +2 Special Attack, Milotic turns into a very capable offensive threat that the opponent has to deal with immediately, which can be an incredible momentum swing in any game. Milotic's bulk, access to recovery, and the usage of ability to use Scald to get burns on opponents are all very valuable for the mid-[hyph] to late-[hyph]game. Milotic can stall out opponents with Recover and Scald, allowing the user to win games even when they are he (or she...) is down (<-I don't know what 'down' means in this context. Do you mean losing? Or are you referring to the number of Pokemon he has? Is he sad? I mean, you can keep it if you want - I just don't get it, personally.) or when Milotic isn't in a particularly favorable match up. The speed control granted by Icy Wind will prove to be consistently valuable as the game goes on into the mid-[hyph] and late-[hyph]game, so it is smart to not let Milotic die in the early-[hyph]game.

Team Options
========

Physical Attackers are good options to pair with Milotic, as they benefit from Milotic's deterrence of Intimidate. Good examples of strong physical attackers include Landorus-Therian and Mega Kangaskhan. Pokemon who benefit from the support of Icy Wind,[rem comma] such as Mega Gardevoir and Mega Kangaskhan,[rem comma] are also good partners for Milotic. Milotic will also need teammates that can defeat the Pokemon such as Ferrothorn and Rotom-Wash that can do big damage to Milotic while taking very little damage from its attacks, such as Ferrothorn and Rotom-Wash. Good options to beat these two are Talonflame for Ferrothorn and Breloom for Rotom Wash, as they can beat Ferrothorn and Rotom-Wash, respectively, and , as they both benefit from the removal of Intimidate.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Milotic can run Toxic to beat bulky [cap]Pokemon it would otherwise have trouble damaging,[rem comma] such as Suicune and Cresselia. Hidden Power Electric is another coverage option for Milotic, as it can be run on the offensive set as-is (<-this was modifying Hidden Power) or on the a variant of the bulky set with 136 Special Attack EVs to always that ensure the OHKO 252 Gyarados with a Competitive boost. However, using HP Hidden Power Electric causes Milotic to miss out on using a generally much better move, such as Ice Beam or Recover. Mirror Coat can help patch up Milotic's sparse coverage options and make use of it's its naturally high base Special Defense, allowing it to take an opponent's special attack and return it at to the attacker at double the power, but again, Milotic misses out on running a more reliable move. Milotic can run Choice Scarf to catch opponents by surprise. This set would be best run with the moves moveset, Scald / Hydro Pump / Ice Beam / Icy Wind, and an EV spread of 96 HP / 252 SpA / 160 Spe with a Modest nature, which would allow Milotic to out-speed outspeed Mega Lucario, [rem comma] while maximizing it's its damage output and putting the rest into padding its bulk. Using Choice Scarf locks Milotic into one move and forces it to miss out on utility options like Recover and Protect. Another item option for Milotic is Rocky Helmet, allowing which can allow Milotic to punish physical attackers for hitting it by removing a chunk of health proportional to the attackers maximum HP for each hit, which can prove very beneficial, especially in the late game. Milotic can hold a Maranga Berry in order to gain a +1 Special Defense boost when it is hit by a special attack, allowing it to take hits from and stall out even the strongest special attackers in the Doubles OU metagame. However, these two items Rocky Helmet and Maranga Berry both lack the overall reliability and utility of the ones items listed in the main sets, since as they can sometimes not activate at all, or only a few times in a game in the case of Rocky Helmet.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Typing Advantage**: Electric-[hyph]types, bulky [ucase]Grass-hyph]types, and opposing [ucase]Water-[hyph]types can cause a lot of trouble for Milotic. Some examples are:[rem colon] Rotom-Wash and Keldeo, which totally wall it and do big damage in return,[rem comma];[add scol] Thundurus, which can use [ucase]Thunderbolt,[rem comma] and Taunt,[rem comma] and is bulky enough to take Ice Beams;[add scol] and there are [ucase]Grasses such as Ferrothorn, Ludicolo, Mega Venusaur that take neutral damage from Ice Beam and can kill KO Milotic with their [ucase]Grass-type Stab STAB moves. Kyurem-Black is another special case,[rem comma].[add per] [ucase]With it's good defensive typing and bulk, it can handle any of Milotic'[add apo]s attacks with ease, and Milotic is generally going to be [ucase]Substitute bait for Kyurem-Black unless it has a Competitive boost.

**Speed**: With it's poor base 81 [ucase]Speed, Milotic is outsped by many threats in the Doubles OU metagame. It's out-sped (you spelled it right before lol... are two people writing this analysis? :) ) by most of the top Pokemon in the Doubles OU metagame, and Pokemon with a lower base [ucase]Speed can invest in enough [ucase]Speed to outspeed Milotic. (that's a lot of Speed...) There also isn't very much room for investment without giving up some much needed bulk. Many common [ucase]Electric-[hyph] and [ucase]Grass-[hyph]types will be faster than Milotic, namely,[add comm] Serperior, [ucase]Scarfed Rotom forms formes, Thundurus, and Ludicolo.

**Weather**: Sun halves the damage of Milotic's STAB [ucase]Water-type attacks and activates Chlorophyll for Venusaur to take out Milotic. The lingering effects of [ucase]Sun and the fact that both Charizard Y and Venusaur can both deal with an unboosted Milotic fairly easily means[pl.] that Milotic can be a dead weight Pokemon in many match ups matchups against [ucase]Sun teams.

It's cold outside.

Its cold has gotten worse.

Alternatively, (AC) Ice Beam is a good coverage option for Milotic, making it able enables Milotic to hit Flying- and Grass-types (add hyphens) such as Thundurus and Amoonguss for super effective (so does Icy Wind, maybe "much greater"?) damage. Icy Wind should be used on teams that require the speed control granted by the move, but Ice Beam is a stronger option on teams that already have speed control options in place. Recover gives Milotic reliable recovery, allowing it to stick around longer and continue to provide a check to opposing Intimidate users and provide speed control. Protect is a staple move for most Pokemon in the Doubles metagame, allowing Milotic to scout for moves, stall out opposing speed control, and avoid taking damage while its partner handles a threat.

Set Details
========

The Special Attack EVs given allow Milotic to 2HKO Mega Kangaskhan when Milotic has +2 Special Attack from with a Competitive boost and OHKO Landorus-Therian with Ice Beam when Milotic is without a Special Attack boost one. The Speed EV's EVs let Milotic outspeed all forms of Rotom with no speed investment uninvested Rotom formes. Then, Milotic is given the maximum amount number of HP EV's EVs, with the rest put into Defense, to maximize Milotic's its bulk. Sitrus Berry is an item option that allows Milotic to recover 25% of it's health without using a turn to recover, which can help with it's longevity for instant recovery, which is especially handy against Mega Kangaskhan due to it's its Parental Bond ability. Leftovers is another item that gives Milotic permanent passive recovery, which can help later in the game as Milotic attempts to stall out opposing Pokemon. Another option for an item is Safety Goggles, which grants Milotic an immunity to Spore and allows it to ignore redirection from Rage Powder, allowing Milotic to improve its matchup against opposing Grass-types (add hyphen) by avoiding sleep and attacking its intended target.

Usage Tips
========

Switching Milotic in on a situation where an Intimidate user is going to come in on the opponent's side of the field is a good opportunity for Milotic way to get a Competitive boost. Milotic can also switch in on an Icy Wind or a Snarl (RC) and gain a Competitive boost that way. Milotic getting A +2 Special Attack boost can turn the Pokemon Milotic into a very capable offensive threat that the opponent has to deal with immediately, which can be an incredible momentum swing in any game. Milotic's bulk, access to recovery, and the usage of Scald ability to get burns on opponents foes through Scald are all very valuable for the mid- to late-game. (add hyphens) Milotic can stall out opponents foes with Recover and Scald, allowing the user to win games even when they are down or when Milotic isn't in a particularly favorable matchup. (remove space) The speed control granted by Icy Wind will prove to be consistently valuable as the game goes on into the mid- and late-game, (add hyphens) so it is smart to not let Milotic die get KOed in the early-game. (add hyphens)

Team Options
========

Physical attackers are good options to pair with Milotic, as they benefit from Milotic's deterrence of Intimidate. Good examples of strong physical attackers include Landorus-Therian and Mega Kangaskhan. Pokemon who that benefit from the support of Icy Wind, such as Mega Gardevoir and Mega Kangaskhan, are also good partners for Milotic. Milotic will also need teammates that can defeat the Pokemon that can do big damage to Milotic it while taking very little damage from its attacks, such as Ferrothorn and Rotom-Wash. Good options to beat these two are Talonflame and Breloom, as they can beat Ferrothorn and Rotom-Wash, respectively, and they both which also benefit from the removal deterrence of Intimidate.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Milotic can run Toxic to beat bulky Pokemon it would otherwise have trouble damaging, such as Suicune and Cresselia. Hidden Power Electric is another coverage option for Milotic, as it that can be run on the offensive set as is (remove hyphen) or on the bulky set with 136 Special Attack EVs to always OHKO 252 (what?) Gyarados with a Competitive boost. However, using HP Electric this causes Milotic to miss out on using a generally much better move, such as Ice Beam or Recover. Mirror Coat can help patch up Milotic's sparse coverage options and make use of it's its naturally high base Special Defense, allowing it to take an opponent's special attack and return it at the attacker at for double the power damage, but again, Milotic misses out on running a more reliable move. Milotic can run Choice Scarf to catch opponents by surprise. This set would be best run with the moves Scald / Hydro Pump / Ice Beam / Icy Wind (RC) and an EV spread of 96 HP / 252 SpA / 160 (spaces) Spe with a Modest nature, which would allow Milotic to out-speed outspeed Mega Lucario (RC) while maximizing it's its damage output and putting the rest into padding its bulk. However, (AC) using Choice Scarf locks Milotic into one move and forces it to miss out on utility options like Recover and Protect. Another item option for Milotic is Rocky Helmet, allowing Milotic it to punish physical attackers for hitting it by removing a chunk of the attackers max HP for each hit, which can prove very beneficial, especially in the late game. Milotic can hold a Maranga Berry in order to gain a +1 Special Defense boost when it is hit by a special attack, allowing it to take hits from and stall out even the strongest special attackers in the Doubles OU metagame. However, these two items lack the overall reliability and utility of the ones listed in the main sets, since as they can sometimes not activate at all (RC) or only a few times in a game, (AC) in the case of Rocky Helmet.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Typing Advantage**: Electric-types, bulky Grass-types, and opposing Water-types (add hyphen) can cause a lot of trouble for Milotic. Some examples are (remove colon) Rotom-Wash and Keldeo, which totally wall it and do big damage in return, Thundurus, which can hit it with Thunderbolt (RC) or Taunt (RC) and is bulky enough to take Ice Beams, (AC) and there are grasses Grass-types such as Ferrothorn, Ludicolo, and Mega Venusaur that take neutral damage from Ice Beam and can kill KO Milotic with their grass Stab STAB moves. Kyurem-Black is another special case, as with it's its good defensive typing and bulk, it can handle any of Milotic's (apostrophe) attacks with ease, and Milotic is generally going to be Substitute bait for Kyurem-Black unless it has a Competitive boost.

**Speed**: With it's its poor (this is really not "poor", maybe because it's uninvested but you're being a bit harsh on the base stat, consider "mediocre" or "unremarkable" or something) base 81 Speed, Milotic is outsped by many threats most of the top Pokemon in the Doubles OU metagame, (comma) It's out-sped by most of the top Pokemon, and Pokemon with a lower base Speed can invest in enough speed to outspeed Milotic it. There also isn't very much room for investment without giving up some much-needed (add hyphen) bulk. Notably, (AC) many common Electric- and Grass-types (add hyphen) will be faster than Milotic, namely Serperior, scarfed Choice Scarf Rotom formes, Thundurus, and Ludicolo.

**Weather**: Sun halves the damage of Milotic's STAB water attacks and activates Chlorophyll for Venusaur to take it out Milotic. The lingering effects of sun and the fact that both Mega Charizard Y and Venusaur can both deal with an unboosted Milotic fairly easily means mean that Milotic can be a dead weight Pokemon in many matchups (remove space) against sun teams.

[OVERVIEW]

Milotic's ability access to Competitive allows it to be a great counter to Intimidate users, such as Landorus-T and Scrafty. Further aided by its access to Recover granting it the ability to stay on the field for longer than most Pokemon, Milotic can be a good niche pick in the Doubles OU metagame.

However, Milotic's poor offensive movepool and resulting lack in of coverage leave it walled by common Grass- and Water-types such as Ferrothorn and Rotom-W. Because Milotic is a Pokemon that needs to heavily (I prefer having the adverbs before the verbs, but you can keep it as is if you'd like.) invest heavily in its Special Attack and defenses in order to be effective, its base 81 speed stat Speed can severely hold it back severely. Finally, without a boost from Competitive, Milotic lacks the offensive presence found in other Water-types such as Keldeo.

Moves
========

Hydro Pump is Milotic's best STAB move, letting it do serious damage to most Rock-, Ground-, and Fire-types, such as Mega Diancie, Landorus-T (may as well state the more relevant target), and Heatran, as well as good damage to neutral targets. Ice Beam is a staple coverage move for Water-types, allowing allows (this is both fluffy and ambiguous, as it can be interpreted that Ice Beam is used to hit Water-types, which it obviously isn't.) Milotic to hit Flying- and Grass-types such as Thundurus and Amoonguss super effectively. Recover allows Milotic to have a reliable way to recover its health, a trait missed out on by many other Water-(AH)types, notably Suicune and Keldeo. Protect is a staple move in the Doubles metagame, as it (I hate seeing this, but if it's important enough, you can keep it) allows Milotic to scout for moves, stall out opposing speed control, and avoid taking damage while its partner handles a threat.

Set Details
========

Competitive is the best ability for Milotic because it sharply boosts Milotic's Special Attack every time one of its stats is lowered, allowing it to take advantage of certain abilities and moves such as Intimidate and Snarl. Life Orb increases Milotic's damage output, giving it some much-needed extra power. The Special Attack EVs provided allow Milotic to OHKO 4 HP Bisharp with Hydro Pump while at +0 and 4 HP Mega Kangaskhan while at +2. The given Speed EVs given let Milotic outspeed neutral-natured, fully invested, base 70 maximum Speed Pokemon with base 70 Speed, which is the standard for particularly Bisharp. The remaining HP and Defense EVs allow Milotic to survive a Return from Adamant Mega Kangaskhan's return.

Usage Tips
========

Milotic is a good option to choose as a lead if the opponent has an Intimidate user such as the very common Landorus-T. There are two different situations in which it is optimal to switch in Milotic. One is when the user has you have two threatening physical attackers on the field and the opponent is going to bring in their Intimidate user to try to lower their Attack. The other situation is when your opponent is going to go for Icy Wind or Snarl, which Milotic takes little damage from and raise its Special Attack by two stages can use to activate Competitive. Remember to take into account that Milotic will only be affected by Intimidate if it comes onto the field before the Intimidate user.

Team Options
========

Milotic is a Pokemon that requires a decent amount of support, so there are a good number of teammate options to keep in mind when using Milotic it. For starters, Pokemon that benefit from not having to fear Intimidate are great partners for Milotic, such as Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Diancie, and Landorus-T. Many Grass-type Pokemon, such as Ferrothorn and Ludicolo, are good checks to Milotic, so having a Pokemon to beat these them is also beneficial. A good choice to fulfill this role is Talonflame, as it beats both of them and also benefits from Milotic's deterrence of Intimidate users. Opposing Water-types, such as Keldeo and Rotom-W, will also cause trouble for Milotic, as they resist both of its attacks. Good options to beat them are Grass-types such as Serperior and Electric-(AH)types like such as Thundurus and Zapdos. Lastly, Milotic will benefit heavily from the speed control provided by Tailwind. Good Tailwind users to partner with Milotic include users such as Talonflame, Zapdos, and Latios.

Moves

Scald is the Milotic's most reliable STAB move for bulky Milotic, as it has 100% perfect (This is what I prefer but idk what the standard is) accuracy, decent power, and a 30% chance to burn the target. Icy Wind provides speed control and can also do good spread damage when Milotic has a Competitive boost. Alternatively, Ice Beam enables Milotic to hit Flying- and Grass-types such as Thundurus and Amoonguss for much greater super effective damage. Icy Wind should be used on teams that require the speed control granted by the move, but Ice Beam is a stronger option on teams that already have speed control options in place. Recover gives Milotic reliable recovery, allowing it to stick around for longer and continue to check Intimidate users and provide speed control. Protect is a staple move for most Pokemon in the Doubles metagame, allowing allows (Again, do whatever you wish. But JESUS FUCKING CHRIST DO NOT COPYPASTE -_-) Milotic to scout for moves, stall out opposing speed control, and avoid taking damage while its partner handles a threat.

Set Details

The Special Attack EVs allow Milotic to 2HKO Mega Kangaskhan with a Competitive boost Scald at +2 and OHKO Landorus-T with Ice Beam without one when unboosted. The Speed EVs let Milotic outspeed uninvested rotom Rotom formes. Then, Milotic is given the maximum number of Milotic's HP EVs, with is maximized and the rest remaining EVs are put into Defense, (RC) to maximize its bulk. Sitrus Berry is an item option for provides instant recovery, which is especially handy against Mega Kangaskhan due to its the possibility of Parental Bond ability activating it between hits. Leftovers is another item alternative that gives Milotic permanent passive recovery, which can help later in the game as Milotic attempts to stall out opposing Pokemon. Another option for an item is Safety Goggles, which grants Milotic an immunity to Spore and allows lets it to (repetition) ignore redirection from Rage Powder, allowing Milotic to improve its matchup against Grass-types by avoiding sleep and attacking its intended target.

Milotic can run Toxic to beat bulky Pokemon it would otherwise have trouble damaging, such as Suicune and Cresselia. Hidden Power Electric is another coverage option for that can be run on the offensive set as is with no extra investment or on the bulky (change to "defensive" if you decide to change the set name) set with 136 Special Attack EVs to always OHKO 252 HP Gyarados with a Competitive boost.
