Mega Pinsir is a great late-game sweeper and one of Bug's best answers to Fighting-types thanks to its typing and Aerilate ability. Swords Dance boosts its power even further, overpowering foes such as Toxapex and Celesteela. Return is its main Flying-type STAB move, hitting Grass-, Bug-, and Fighting-types such as Mega Venusaur, Volcarona, and Kommo-o,. Using Frustration with 0 happiness is also an option, as it prevents Ditto from doing too much damage after copying Mega Pinsir. Quick Attack allows Mega Pinsir to revenge kill fast threats such as Iron Valiant, Ogerpon-H, and +1 Kommo-o. Close Combat nails Steel- and Rock-types such as Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Tyranitar, but Earthquake is also viable to hit Gholdengo and Aegislash, as well as Fire-types such as Torkoal and Volcanion. Mega Pinsir's secondary Flying typing makes it 4x weak to Stealth Rock, so it appreciates entry hazard removal from Rapid Spin users such as Forretress and Armaldo. Forretress also provides great defensive utility, taking physical Flying- and Rock-type moves with ease while having Volt Switch to pivot Mega Pinsir onto the field safely. Mega Pinsir appreciates entry hazards on the opposing side as well, such as Stealth Rock from Kleavor, Spikes and Toxic Spikes from Forretress, and Sticky Web from Araquanid and Galvantula. Furthermore, Kleavor can deal with Flying- and Fire-types such as Zapdos and Moltres, and Araquanid can deal with Fire-types as well as take on strong special attacks from the likes of Tapu Lele and Gholdengo, dealing damage back with Mirror Coat. Araquanid's access to Magic Coat allows it to deflect status and hazards as well. Scizor can check Ice- and Rock-types such as Baxcalibur and Ogerpon-C with its STAB Bullet Punch, as well as pivot with U-turn and remove Stealth Rock with Defog. Choice Scarf Buzzwole is a great partner and revenge killer, being able to wipe out the remaining foes if Mega Pinsir is knocked out. Volcarona appreciates Mega Pinsir's ability to deal with Kommo-o and Mega Venusaur, and in return, it acts as a special sweeper that can deal with physical walls such as Skarmory. Lokix is a great revenge killer thanks to its strong First Impression putting foes into range of Mega Pinsir's Quick Attack. Its access to Throat Chop and Knock Off also deals with Ghost-types, and the former prevents Skeledirge from using Torch Song, which would otherwise be a pain to deal with, while the latter removes items. Equipping Lokix with a Z-Crystal, such as Buginium Z or Darkinium Z, can deal massive damage to foes that would otherwise be difficult to break through.
