XY OU Mega altaria offensive team

So, yes, I wanted to make a mega altaria team and I did it.
It's a nice solid offensive team that has a nice coverage. At least in my opinion. And though it's a mega altaria team, it's not built around it so it's not the star of the team.
I think it's main virtue relies on the fact that it has many set up opportunities and, therefore, many mons that can lategame sweep, adapting to different teams and situations.
That said, and having in mind the fact that this is the first team I built myself to OU, let's see what I have.

Altaria-Mega @ Altarianite
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Return
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Heal Bell

Nice good old Mega Altaria. Simple DD set, with return for STAB and EQ for coverage. I run Adamant full speed and atk, but I might change it to make it a little more bulky, not sure yet. So far, it's proven to be relatively bulky anyways. It also has heal bell instead of subs or roost, because thundurus might try to t-wave before I can subs and because the rest of my team appreciates that heal bell, specially because i've notice many going for yawn/sleep, which is always annoying, and Altaria can heal its mates.

Volcarona @ Leftovers
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Fiery Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Morning Sun

Next, comes Volcarona. Once again, pretty straight forward set. Quiver dance for setting up, fiery dance and bug buzz for STAB (maybe someday I'll try silver wind, just for fun), morning sun for healing. I used to run HP ground instead, but then I changed my team a little and morning sun got there, though I'm considering going for giga drain. Doesn't appreciate SR at all, but can easily set up and starts to kill stuff.

Hawlucha @ Power Herb
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sky Attack
- Acrobatics
- High Jump Kick
- Swords Dance
Nice crazy mexican wrestler, Hawlucha is fast like crazy with that unburden of his. Setting up really easily, with that nice sky attack, he can then starts to defeat the other team. If landorus-T comes to intimidate it, i just go for SD, to make it a bigger threat to everyone. Acrobatics and HJK for really powerfull STABs, though that fighting move can be frustrating at times. It happens. I don't like running roost, because If I have a turn and I can SD, that's better than recovering.

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 248 HP / 88 Def / 172 SpD
Calm Nature
- Leech Seed
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Thunder Wave

Ok, this it my hazards setter, annoying-thing-that-can-be-shut-down-with-taunt. It has SpD investiments and can often take clefable's fire attacks, or non stab fire attacks in general. Besides, even with max def, it would not be able to take Talonflame's flare blitz anyway.
Once again, straight forward: SR, spikes, t-wave to make it a little more annoying and leech seed. I used to run gyro ball instead of leech seed, but i switched and I can't remember why. I'm sure there was a good reason, though.

647.gif

Keldeo @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Secret Sword
- Icy Wind
- Taunt

Keldeo is the 5th original mon of this team. I used to run it scarfed, but I recently changed the team and put another scarfed mon, so I put the life orb on Keldeo instead. Thus, I put taunt, because that is a really nice move imo. The other moves are STAB scald and secret sword and good old Icy wind to wreck dragonites, garchomps, landorus and other stuff. Timid nature for speed. Not much else to say.

530.gif

Excadrill @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Iron Head
- Rapid Spin
And, finally, we have the last member to join the team: scarfed excadrill. This slot belongs to a hazard remover, and I originally had a defog Scizor, but... it didn't work out, let's put it that way. But i'm still testing Excadrill. So far, so good. Rock slide to beat talonflame and, luckily, volcarona, EQ and Iron head. With mold breaker and a little luck, I can also damage stupid Rotom-W hard (that is, if I didn't switch in and didn't get burned). Also, gengar doesn't appreciate that EQ. Scarfed spinner is weird, but I guess that was better for the team, since, imo, Excadrill is a great spinner. and, who knows, I might need all that speed to remove hazards, though, if someone throws a spin blocker ghost (which is not that common these days), I get locked =//

-> Now, before analysing threats, I just want to point out smething I don't have that I wish I had: priority moves.

-> A few common threats: volcarona and talonflame used to wreck my team hard when I had Scizor. Let's see what excadrill can do to manage that problem.
I also really hate thundurus and that stupid prakster t-wave. OMG, so annoying. Hopefully, Excadrill will be able to take it down as well.
But the most annoying thing ever would happen to be Rotom-W. like: OMG, I want to put mega-sceptile just to leafstorm that crap, or something like that. And it's so freaking common. But, even though it's annoying, I often manage to get around it well, with ferrothorn taking hits and M-Altaria being able to set up on it and using heal bell to cure the burn after. Again, hopefully, Excadrill will be able to help taking that down.

-> things I might change in the near future: a) taking that rapid spin off excadrill and bring spinner-hazard-setter forretress to the team, instead of ferrothorn. I might test it soon;
b) Putting defensive (or maybe even scarfed) Landorus-T on the team instead of excadrill and going for something else instead of ferrothorn, a special wall, so the team get's a little more defensive.

Well, I guess that's it. I'm eager to hear other people's opinions and critics. =]

Try to take some Spe Evs from the Altaria and the Volcarona set and put it to HP. On Altaria: Try run 224 Spe Evs to outspeed Tornadus after one DD. On Volcarona: I would recommend Timid 192 Speed to outspeed Scarf Kyurem-B after one QD (if you're not worried 'bout Scarfed Kyurem, run 184 Timid at least to outrun Scarf Lando-T). Replace Morning Sun w/ Roost, because of 1) more PP and 2) Only benefited if facing Zard-Y, and Rain/Sand teams are getting more common. While Bug Buzz is nice as STAB, I recommend replacing it w/ Giga Drain, just because of Rotom-W (even if Exca checks him, it's nice to have two ways to deal with a common used pokémon) and other fat water types. You could also try running Passho or Lum Berry for Azuband and Pranksterwave, respectively.
Otherwise I don't find any flaws (for now at least). :]

Hey Marcelloc2,

Nice team you have here.

One thing I notice is that you have a major problem taking out bulky water types like Crocune, CroBro and CM Manaphy.

One thing you must do is drop Morning Sun for Giga Drain.

Second, I would remove Spikes and Thunder Wave on Ferrothorn for Protect and Power Whip.

However, even that might not be enough. So I suggest dropping Hawlucha for Thundurus with Life Orb.

Prankster T-Wave and Taunt can shut down these mons, as well as, other defensive mons who rely on status for victory.

Thunderbolt and HP Ice would round out the moveset with Timid 252 SpA / 252 Speed to make Thundy as fast and powerful as possible.

This will also alleviate the burden of having to switch Keldeo in on these water typers, especially CroBro and CM Manaphy as just because you might nthink you know what's coming doesn't stop your opponent from teching in Psyshock on CroBro or Psychic on Manaphy; which cna prove to be lethal.

Anyways, these are the things I would do.

Let me know what you think. ^_^

I like it, thanks guys for the tips.

However, I'll just have to change something else cause hawlucha was a nice check to venasaur and I think it will be a problem.

Instead of taunt on thundy, u can run psychic and replace icy wind for hp flying. Sure icy wind hits dragons but u have the ultimate dragon deterrent in mega altaria who u should be switching in for a free dragon dance 9/10 times...
