Marvel v Capcom 3 discussion

Apparently Justin Wong has been tweeting that Sentinel is broken as fuck and can turn mud into gold as far as enabling less skilled players goes. Infighting has naturally broken out among the fighting game community.

Your guys' thoughts?

This is pretty much true though, you just need to learn all but one combo:

Crouching M > Launcher > M > H > S > L Rocket Punch > Plasma Ball

It does something like 65-70% damage, and it's insane because crouching M hits just over half screen, along with his launcher. Crouching M also has TONS of stun and has armor on it, meaning it plows straight through other people's attacks. You can probably make this even more damaging by activating flight in the middle of the air combo and getting more hits in.

Everyone in the game is completely balanced except Sentinel - massive health and massive damage output. I hope a patch comes out to fix him, like Seth K said.
 
i'm still kinda skeptical about Sentinel being so "broken." really, i'd to wait until the game has been established for a couple weeks before making any kind of judgements on anyone. keep in mind there are a lot of new characters that haven't been explored in any kind of depth. there's some speculation saying that Viewtiful Joe, once he gets in on Sentinel, has a really easy time with him. same with Wolverine (makes sense).

people right now are mostly worried about Sentinel because everyone who's played MvC2 knows how to play as him already. give it a little bit and i'm sure he'll be balanced.
 
projectiles used to slow him down a lot. now they've buffed it to where he acts like they're not even there.

shoryuken also has basic character guides for everyone here. they're not the best but they're good starting points for people like me that are relatively new to fighting games.

I've been playing around some more.

Dormammu is the absolute god of chip damage - I was the last member alive on my team against last member Dante, so I used Throwing Bomb, X factor cancelled into another, and it that super pretty much forces your opponent to block - there's no way around it. Once I recovered, I threw off another one, and in total of the three bombs, Dante lost 70% percent of his health and died. Nuts.

Morrigan's mirror hyper thing only uses one meter, and I've been messing in training mode with it - I simply cannot figure out how to block it, since Morrigan attacks from both sides.

Super Skrull's meteor smash is an absolute nightmare to face, I can never seem to block it. It comes down hard and fast, and goes straight into Inferno. It has an incredibly nasty habit of crossing you up, it's a 50/50 guess of which way to block.

anyways, I had hoped to get my pre-order today since some european stores seem to have started selling today, but alas, I'll wait till friday I suppose, or maybe with some luck theyll call tomorrow :D
 
A command grab has fairly short range (i.e. face-to-face). A kara grab is where you cancel a move that would move you forward so that you get more range. I could give you a more 'correct' or in-depth explanation, but that's the gist of it.
