Mario Kart Wii

I just got it today, and played it for the last 2 hours, and yes, it is quite an amazing game! Yes, graphics could be a bit better, but they are fine nevertheless. The Wii wheel is a unique experience, but I still prefer the classic controller.

I just got this game and I have to say...

WOW. It's fun!

I was also looking at some of the requirements for unlocking characters on an IGN guide, and noticed alot of the requirements seem to be harder than they were before. Is it really that hard or am I just blowing things out of proportion?
I have to agree they're a tad much. IMO it's best to work out specifically what you want to unlock and go from there rather than trying for everything all at once.

To be honest, as much as I like to say graphics don't make a game, this game looks just as shitty as the GC version. You would think they would put as much graphical effort into Mariokart as they did into Smash Bros, since it's also one of their flagship titles, but wow, guess not. Very disappointing.

But MKDD looks great? The graphics are still plenty serviceable.

How good can they make the graphics for a game where you race around with Mario characters, come on lol, there is no need for the graphics to be as dedicated as Brawl or anything.

If anyone wants to race me, I am game, although I do not think I will have the dedication to race 250 times to get Birdo. (Or well, you have to defeat 250 people, so that could take a lot more than 250 lol)

Just finish 16 TTs. >.>

Its Nintendo. All wifi games are lost right now. Im pretty sure nintendo has been doing a Wifi Revamp. They have had it like this for about 20 hours.

People are forgetting how blocky the DD graphics were.
Also, having up to 12 people driving around a large track is going to be more demanding on the Wii than 4 characters within a small space or 2 in the SSE (as in Brawl).

EDIT: I must have left this tab open. I was responding to Mr.E and thought his was the most recent reply.

So you're telling me a game where you fight with cute little Mario characters deserves better graphics than one where you race with them? I don't see the logic in that one. They're both whimsical, you can have good graphics and stay whimsical (look at Brawl), Mariokart looks really lazy when I can see the pointy vertex on my Yoshi's nose.

You don't need good graphics for a good game, but some of this shows laziness which is disappointing in a flagship title, especially from Nintendo who is known for pushing back titles when they're not perfect.

Hey, can I get a little help on how to get funky kong? IGN says that you should "unlock 4 Expert ghost data". How do you get expert ghost data in the first place?

Expert Staff Ghosts get unlocked after you beat the first ghost within a certain amount of time. You don't have to beat the ESG though, which is a good thing 'cause they're fast.

So does anyone know how to get Rosalina without having Mario Galaxy saved on my Wii?

All stages have expert staff ghosts. You have to beat the normal staff ghost and get under a certain time to unlock the expert staff ghosts.

http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=942008&topic=42526151

Has the unlock times for every courses' expert ghost.

Rosalina - Have a Super Mario Galaxy savefile and she will be unlocked after some GPs or get 1 star in all Mirror Mode Retro-Cups

Looks like if you don't have a SMG save you're in for a rough ride.

Psycho, it's not that hard. For some reason my Wii didn't read my SMG save and i got Rosalina after doing my 6th cup or so.

I had that too, you can't get Rosalina after one cup.

And you can get expert staff ghost after beating normal staff ghosts by three second on EVERY track. Not just some random ones.

A racing game's graphics matter less than a fighting game with similar characters because racing games are all essentially more similar to each other than fighting games to each other. Additionally, you have to pay much less careful attention to details in a racing game, since in fighting games you have to attack and react to someone else much more, as well as move in much more complex pattersns. All games should have the best graphics possible, but it matters less in a racing game than anything else but for puzzle games!

Okay I know some of you here drive the torpedo because it's the best for TTs and I decided to take a shot at it and holy shit it has awful handling. There is a corner right at the start of koopa cape (my favourite track and my fastest TT) that is impossible to speed through. You actually have to take off the accelerator :/
But yeah after waay too long on one track I eventually got a 2:38 (or something similar) on it :D
I was quite pleased with it even though I messed up a bit on the second lap. Used Bowser Bike btw. Anybody beat that here?

I'll try that later.

Edit: Time on Koopa Kape: 2,36.421

Has anybody ever connected to somebody from Europe? I've never seen a person from Europe so far connect to me using the Worldwide feature (Which people use more than Region). Japan or America for me.

Oh, I seem to play without lag. Be afraid, be very afraid. (I'm not that good at Mario Kart though, but I'll still play)

Almost everyone plays without lag. >.>
And want to play now? I'll be afraid, I promise. (yeah)

Sure. Though, you must understand, I use a Satellite connection. Playing without lag using a Satellite connection is unheard of.
