Mamoswine has a weird niche when it comes to using Endeavor. First off, Mamoswine is immune to both Sandstorm and Hail, something that no other Pokemon can boast barring Clefable, Golduck, and Rayquaza. There's also the STAB on his priority move that makes him useful backed up with STAB Earthquake if necessary. On top of that, he has a 130 base Attack Ice Shard, allowing you to feasibly KO everything in your tracks. While Substitute works well on Mamoswine, Stealth Rock (or any damage in particular) will ruin your chance of lowering your HP stat to 1. Therefore you can use Endure and attempt to use Endeavor and Ice Shard safely for the most part.

Substitute is usually the better move regardless because of a few reasons. Mamoswine's main problem is being revenge killed by users of priority moves, such as Extremespeed Lucario and Bullet Punch Scizor. With Substitute, you easily prevent your opponent from revenge killing you and cause Mamoswine to be a major headache. With his 130 base Attack stat behind him, Endeavor isn't horrible to use even if you can't get your HP stat to 1, since Ice Shard and Liechi Berry should do the job. Salac Berry is also an option on this set, pushing Mamoswine to 388 Speed, just enough to outpace Jolly Weavile. Jolly is a consideration with Salac Berry as it outpaces Timid Heatran with a Choice Scarf. You lose a little bit of power by opting for this; however, most of the Pokemon that are slower than you fear STAB Earthquake or Ice Shard already.

This set works well alongside Hail. Assuming you use Snow Cloak you have a little safety by evading attacks that have rather average accuracy. On top of that the Hail damages Steel-types as well as many other Pokemon that aren't Ice-type. By using this combo Ice Shard is only necessary for Ice-types in general after Endeavor.

Any suggestions to this set? I feel it deserves its own set just because Mamoswine has a ton of advantages to using Endeavor unlike most Pokemon in general.

388 Speed does not outspeed Timid Jolteon, which sits at 394. It ties with Skymin but that's irrelevant, considering Ice Shard OHKOs. If you're going to use Salac, a Jolly nature might be helpful, as you'll beat Timid Scarftran after the boost.

A 31 in HP gives you 361 HP with no EVs. This means each Substitute will take away 90.25 HP, rounded down to 90. 90*4 = 360, so you will be left with 1 HP with a 31 IV.

i used the sub salac with max attack / speed /4 hp jolly on a hail team and it's quite effective. the last 4 evs dont matter assuming a 31 hp iv since it's either 361 or 362 which leave you with one or 2 hp, which makes pretty much 0 difference.

I'd really emphasize the chance at hax with hail in play, and the fact that this ou metagame is steels rich, so hail is really overall more beneficial to the set. sandstorm immune is a bonus because

Mamoswine is immune to both Sandstorm and Hail; something that no other Pokemon lacks barring Clefable, Golduck, and Rayquaza.

Is it just me or does that not make any sense?

Shouldn't it be:

"something that no other Pokémon can boast other than.."

Or,

"something that every other Pokémon lacks barring..."

I think Brightpowder should be listed as another option. In Hail and with Brightpower, Mamoswine can really abuse Snow Cloak, and it gives you a fairly big chance of being able to Endeavor more than one Pokemon.

I also think it should be noted that Endure doesn't work as well with Snow Cloak (similar to how, for example, Thunder Wave + Counter isn't a good idea on Blissey). It would just suck if you Endured only to have your opponent's normally fatal attack miss. I just think Substitute is more useful overall, because even with Stealth Rock, you can just switch in twice :x

Finally, I think it's worth a mention that Mamoswine can make 101 HP Substitutes. Mamoswine can also switch into Blissey's Thunder Wave with ease while still being neutral to Ice Beam. Also, with 176 HP EVs and 44 SpDef EVs, Mamoswine's Substitutes can survive a Seismic Toss while also surviving standard Blissey's Ice Beam 100% of the time. A big downside to this though is that you will need to take EVs from either Attack or Speed :/

Excellent job as usual, CM ^_^ Also, you will notice I have a new edit colour xD <3 gorm.

What ever happened to this? I've been using it on my latest team and it's been quite effective, especially in Sandstorm.
