League of Legends: Let's Talk About uhhh??

After being too afraid to play ranked at all last season, I started my placement matches this week. For whatever reason, around 60% of my opponents were Gold in S3 (with a couple Plats and Diamonds scattered, the rest being Silver). Struggled/supported my way to a 5-5 record, and somehow got placed in Silver I ಠ_ಠ

I'm not good enough now to make Gold, but after watching more pros play I'm pretty confident that I've been getting better recently. Got my goal in place to make it out of Silver by the next couple months!

Username is TenSecondsFlat, if anyone wants to play some regulars/ARAMs at any time. I think I added some people here years ago, but I can't remember anyone's username.

Could be worse - you could end up Silver last season and now be Bronze II like I am. Though being fair and honest - I know I'm currently (hint I said currently) Bronze material.

Though whenever I jungle I at least feel slightly like a Bronze with Ego (aka Silver) since I've been doing exceptionally well in there. Usually I Vi, Hecarim, Nocturne, or J4 but I know I want to perfect Elise, Zac, and a few others a bit more. My laning; especially with Mid lane, is the biggest issue.

Also OddOne tried this and I decided to give it a shot - has anyone tried Phage on some of the junglers? Even though Trinity Force is expensive as fuck I've found the Phage proc is really nice for chasing down opponents (especially as Vi). I've actually started to build it a lot lately and just continue building tanky before going to Trinity Force.

I'm not upset about being too low in Silver I... I just think I've actually been placed a few divisions above my actual skill level ;_;

So I just came back to the game and someone should totally help me get those Lunar Revel summoner icons that require you to queue with friends. My summoner name is Radilgy, just hit me up if you see me online, I am down for any mode but especially ARAM and Dominion.

EDIT: theamericandream38 - stop stalking my Facebook and let's play some League.

If the jungler AND the laners have little, situational or no CC (an example being Nocturne jungle and akali mid) then I sometimes consider Phage but it is very situational as at the end of the day that gold could of gone towards something like locket or Randuins, but on the example of noc Tri-Force is really good on him anyway so its always there as an early option if your planning on building tri-force as a 5th or 6th item. Also Tri-Force makes you a lot stronger at carrying if your laners prove brain dead retarded!

For vi i would think unstoppable force + q knockback would be enough cc combined with your laners CC / Burst to secure the kill or pop flash w/o phage but sheen also fits into vi's kit quite nicely so if you have spare gold lying around, early phage into late tri force could work, don't think its a necessity though

On a slightly related note I wish FroMal still had a good build path :/

This is obv really off the topic but I'm a serious LoL scrub trying to find something out. I've been playing Annie a lot with some serious success (although I deal with intentional feeders/playing 1v5 due to leavers). I'm playing mostly Mid AP but have been doing a bit of support Annie as well. Now I'm trying to get around with other champions, but i can't find out what else I would use. Do any of you have recommendations on champions that are a bit like Annie or have that AP Mid/Support Hybrid?

Good job again Lavos!

I've been playing a lot of ranked and have been basically picking Kayle if I get mid and she's open, and she is probably the best champion in the game right now. She is getting nerfed next patch (Q AP ratio going from 1.0 to 0.6) but she does so much damage and brings so much utility to your team, I doubt the nerf will even be that bad, you'll just sub Zhonya's for DFG. I've played 8 games as her and won all 8 and I went from Silver 4 to Gold 3, skipping Silver 2 and Gold 4 entirely.

Zyra was a really popular pick as a support at the end of season 3, even though she was designed for mid lane. I haven't see her much lately at support, but she still has a gamechanging ult and is a lot of fun to play imo.

Karma is a nuisance to lane against in bot lane, and with a poke heavy comp against a lane without a lot of poke (ie Vayne/Leona or something) you can really make their lives hell with your damage. Idk how much play she gets in mid, but someone in the lcs played her yesterday and it worked out alright.

I personally love playing Lux support, as long as you can het your snare. If you can, you have a fairly safe poke heavy lane, but if you can't then you and your carry will get ganked often. It's just a lot of fun to be able to do 500 damage with a snare/laser combo at level 6!

I think the main problem is that people constantly chew you out if you go for Spirit of the Elder Lizard when you're using it for a faster wave clear in the jungle (at least that's about 75% of the reason I build it). Phage at least works in tandem when building Ancient Golem since it gives a little extra Attack and some chase while you still are tanky as hell. Trinity Force is usually a last item build for me anyway but I've been meaning to try it on other champs (J4 with Phage sounds intriguing actually because I don't care about the damage but rather the chase potential once in a while). I agree that all junglers should still focus tankier but if you go for Golem to Phage I don't see too much of an issue (unless their ADC is stupid fed or their APC - then skip Phage and go straight for Randuins / Visage).

Frozen Mallet's build path isn't that horrible though. It honestly could be worse. I hate the new build path for Locket and the build path for Tiamat and Warmogs drives me insane (thankfully Tiamat is kind of cheap). I just wish Phage would build into something other than just Trinity Force. Something more suitable for Junglers because Phage is a really nice item for any AD champ IMO.

This is one of the reasons that Vi is one of my favorite solo queue junglers - you can go Golem + Brut into a fast Triforce and Cleaver and manage to output ludicrous amounts of damage while still somehow being ridiculously tanky. Honestly, there's no call for a jungler to be able to 100-0 a squishy while still being nigh-unkillable in the event she doesn't fall behind.

Kayle :D
w is so obnoxious to fight against in lane, just when you think you've gotten far enough away from the ad they get movespeed from kayle and crit you t.t
and ult won't cost any mana next patch or something

one reason i'm actually terrified to play my placement matches is because i haven't really touched league since the end of november and i've been playing basically just MMOs in the meanwhile

i played a bot game just now and tried to move using WASD and blew flash level 1 :P

entering my first normal game of S4, will post results soon

That's why I rebound my keys to 1234 and move the map using WASD: I play too many MMOs to get used to anything else. Also too lazy to move mouse to edge of screen to scroll.

I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE.

I move the camera with WASD as well. Except ZXCV are my spells and EF are my summoners. Items 1,2, & 3 are R, T, & Q respectively.
