Jolteon17's Team

I almost always prefer speed over power, which is why my natures all boost speed. I'm mostly an offensive player. I've been playing with this team for maybe 5 days or so and I win maybe 60% of my battles. I only have 1 pokemon that uses SpAtk. I don't know if thats bad but I've been ok so far. Lucario used to be SpAtk but I recently switched him to Atk because I was having alot of trouble with Scarf Heatran. I have followed most of the editings posted by previous users. Thank you very much for taking the time to rate this team. I greatly appreciate it!

Aerodactyl (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Taunt
I use Aerodactyl as a Suicide Lead to lay down Stealth Rock. Focus Sash helps him live. If he doesn't die right away he is my main Rock/Ground type. I love Dactyl cause hes fast and powerful, even though he is a bit fragile. I normally Taunt first and then Stealth Rock after that. Sometimes I switch him out depending on the opponent and sometimes I try to do as much damage as possible before he dies. Stone Edge is for STAB and Earthquake is for Heatran and Tyranitar mostly.

Lucario (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk/4 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SpAtk)
- Close Combat
- ExtreemeSpeed
- Crunch
- Ice Punch
Lucario is my revenge killer/sweeper. I put a Jolly nature to max out his speed. CLose Combat is obviously his STAB and main attack. ExtreemeSpeed is for revenge killing, Crunch is for Ghost and Psychic types, and Ice Punch is for Dragons, Ground, and Grass types. Nobody ever expects him to have a Scarf and I have gotten tons of surprise kills with it, especially Heatran. He is one of my favorite pokemon.

Gyarados (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
- Dragon Dance
I prefer speed over power which is why I took a Jolly nature. Waterfall is my STAB attack. Earthquake is for taking out Steel or Rock types. If I expect electric attacks I'll switch in Electivire. Dragon Dance is for when i feel like sweeping. Ice Fang is mainly for Dragons but also used for Ground and Grass types. He is my main powerhouse.

Electivire (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Motor Drive
EVs: 4 Atk/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Cross Chop
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Electivire absorbs all electric attacks. I've given him all attacking moves and an expert belt to maximize his damage. Thunderbolt is STAB, HP Ice is for Ground and Dragon types, Flamethrower and Cross Chop give him type coverage. I switch him in on electric attacks and counter whoever I think will be switched in after that.

Azelf @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Flamethrower
- Psychic
- Energy Ball
- Nasty Plot
Azelf is my main special sweeper. He is great for getting either OHKO or 2HKO even without a Nasty Plot. I use Nasty Plot when I suspect a switch, and then he is normally fast enough to outrun opponents and attack. Life Orb maximizes his damage.

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Superpower
- Pursuit
Scizor is mainly used to revenge kill with either Bullet Punch or Pursuit. Superpower is used to take out incoming Heatrans, Tyranitars, or Magnezones. Technitian is a given for his ability.

Right, you asked for a rate, so here we go. First of all, I will look through at the individual sets:

I should add that 253 evs is the same as 252. If you wrte 252 this is less confusing. You should read the analyses for all of your pokemon. Once you become more experienced you can begin to make custom sets.

Aerodactyl: I would strongly suggest Taunt over Thunder Fang, to prevent others from setting up Stealth Rock. Rock slide is an option worth testing, over stone edge.

Lucario: I have never really used or seen a scarf Lucario before. What is obvious to me, however, it that he is not quite fast enough. Firstly, if you are to keep him, you should use a timid nature and Hidden power ice over Blaze kick, which is a physical move, which would allow you to revenge adamant salamence, for instance.

Kindra: IMO, rain dance should generally not be used outside a specialist rain dance team. Since you are running Electivire, I would suggest a bulky Gyarados, to bait in electric type attacks:

Gyarados @ leftovers
Adamant nature
156hp/72atk/96def/184speed
-Waterfall
-Dragon Dance
-Taunt
-Bounce

Electivire: Although its attack is higher than its special attack, Electivire best runs a mixed set, as it generally relies on finding the weaknesses of the opponents. Thuderbolt as a move is also somewhat more powerful than thunderpunch, an it good for physical walls.

Electivire @ Expert belt (because you have great SE coverage)
Mild
36 attack 252 special attack 220 speed

-Thunderbolt
-Cross Chop
-Flamethrower
-Hidden Power ice/grass

Azelf: You want nasty plot if you want to sweep. I would suggest this over Thunderbolt. Grass knot is usually superior to energy ball, because most of its targets are heavy.

Scizor: This is a very strange set. There are basically 2 scizor sets woth considering: SD and CB. Since you already have 2 setup sweepers, I would suggest the standard choice band set:

Scizor@choice band
Nature: adamant
248hp 252 atk 4 def 4spe
-Bullet punch
-Superpower
-Pursuit
-U-turn

I should add that Focus sash is useless outside of the lead position, due to entry hazards. I always run 4 speed on my CB scizors, because it is beneficial to be slower than the standard 8 speed for superpower vs other scizor.

I have to leave soon, but I hope I helped. Try out the sets I have suggested, then we can find out what the weaknesses of your team are and make changes accordingly. Sorry i would have liked to explain more why the sets are as they are, but mostly they are explained in the analyses.

Good luck.

On that Gyarados, you definitely want Ice Fang, not avalanche, which has negative priority. Stone Edge and Bounce are also good options. Offensive gyarados should generally run life orb. Also, you want an adamant nature. Since Gyarados sits on a strange speed level, it really does not benefit much from the extra speed after a dd.

On lucario, despite the scarf, I would run Vacuum wave over Flash cannon. It offers no coverage in particular. You might also want shadow ball over dark pulse. If you do not want to run a CB on Scizor, I suggest that you run an SD scizor. Bluffing a CB is quite fun, so you could use iron plate as the item with bullet punch/u-turn/superpower/swords dance.

Also, I suggest you have a look at Marriland's team builder to assess the strengths and weaknesses of your team type-wise.

Scizor (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Superpower
- Pursuit
I didn't give him Choice Band because I don't want to lock into an attack and not be able to U-Turn after if I need to scram. Speed nature over power. Bullet Punch is my main STAB and killer. Pursuit is to weaken retreating enemies. Superpower is for Blissey and any other wall.

I'm all for innovation, but only when it proves to be good/useful. This Scizor is much less effective than either of the more common scizors, so I'd go with a more useful set.

Hey but if you want a jolly Gyarados, try out this set that i have been working on and testing, it gives you the speed to outspeed 130's, the power to get KO's, and bulk to be able to take hits and be a reliable switch in. Try this:

Gyarados@Leftovers
Jolly Nature
Ability:Intimidate
104 Hp / 192 Atk / 40 Def / 172 Spe
-Dragon Dance
-Waterfall
-Stone Edge
-Taunt/Bounce

I understand how your jaw probably dropped at the slim amount of attack EV's but this still gets all the same KO's after a DD, so why not make use of the other EV's. Waterfall and Stone Edge gives you great coverage+Stone edge deals with the dragons you seem concerned about easily, and Taunt stops Phazers from just blowing you away, but Bounce gives you the coverage to hit every OU pokemon for at least neutral damage.

Responding to your PM... I look at the team and I don't like the way I see it, since its being weak to common threats such as SD Lucario, DD Gyarados, Salamenece, etcétera.

To begin with, ScarfLucario isn't fitting in the team, without Life Orb its power and versatility aren't so good, so it will only be able to revenge kill few threats. I have in mind a Pokémon to replace Lucario, that in fact can really help against Gyarados and opposing Kingdra, Latias:

Timid | 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spd
Draco Meteor | Thunderbolt | Surf | Trick

Latias also offers you the opportunity of dealing with stat uppers like CM Suicune, and general Pokémon like Heatran, Infernape and Jolteon. The way you need to play this set is simple as you can see, the only thing you need to be aware of is Tyranitar and Scizor (both can trap and kill off Latias). The rest is very instantaneous, just need to focus on what the opponent is doing.

Analyzing your "point" of why you prefer speed over attack, I have to say that it is kind of redundant, because if in "X" situation what you need is power, aren't you going to use it? Sounds obvious.
Now that Latias can cover important 'check' that people use for Gyarados (i.e: Rotom-A, Jolteon, Latias itself) use Adamant over Jolly for a more powerful attack, and replace EQ for Stone Edge so you will be able to hit opposing Gyarados for super effective damage. Now Ice Fang will seem a kind of useless, so you have two options: 1) keep it in order to have a more reliable move (in terms of accuracy) to fight Dragon and Fly types, 2) try Bounce out so bulky Grass like Celebi will be OHKOed after a Dragon Dance, something that Ice Fang cannot achieve.

For Azelf, most of the time HP Fighting is the best bet while running Nasty Plot since it allows you to hit Tyranitar and Heatran for super effective damage (note that both of them with 4 HP / 0 SpD neutral nature are OHKOed 100% of time). Psychic can still hit hard bulky water such as Swampert and Suicune, hard enough.

As a last note, use Adamant on Scizor, there is practically no point for running Jolly, I mean, you are loosing power in exchange for nothing. Use this spread instead: 176 Atk / 230 Atk / 98 SpD / 4 Spd. With the listed spread, you won't even loose attack and in exchange you will have a more redefined special defense, great when you face Starmie and Latias.

Hope to have helped. Good luck.
