Been tinkering around with a Platinum team for a while now on Shoddy and I've finally come up with one I think works. It's still a work-in-progress though, so any input is greatly appreciated ^_^
Spiritomb @ Leftovers
Nature: Impish
Ability: Pressure
EV's: 252 HP / 252 DEF / 6 SP.DEF
Role: Lead
~Taunt
~Sucker Punch
~Pain Split
~Will o Wisp
Spiritomb works really well as a lead Pokemon. Normally, I'll try and taunt the opponent's lead straight away, but if I don't think they're going to set-up, then I'll Sucker Punch. The combo of Taunt/Sucker Punch works really well as the opponent is forced to attack me, meaning Sucker Punch will always hit. However, the opponent quite often catches on and switches, but I can usually tell when they are going to do this and Will o Wisp to burn the next Poke out.
Blissey @ Leftovers
Nature: Bold
Ability: Natural Cure
EV's: 200 HP/ 252 DEF / 58 SP.DEF
Role: Support / Special Wall / Annoying little beeyatch
~Toxic
~Wish
~Protect
~Flamethrower
I initially wanted to create a team full of completely OU Pokemon (Metagross, Salamence, Skarmory, Blissey etc) and give them completely unique attacks, to exploit how predictable the metagame has become (Special attacking BoltBeamTyranitar for example), however I couldn't really find much else that Blissey could do, aside from being a special sweeper/special wall with Calm Mind. I find that this set works really well, and a lot of the time results in the opponent exiting the battle. Generally, I'll use Toxic first, followed by Protect, for a little damage recovery. Then simply go Wish/Protect over and over. This keeps Bliss alive as the opponent slowly crumbles. Flamethrower is there for Steels who cannot be poisoned. The only main weakness here is Heatran, but I do have others to counter him, so it shouldn't be a problem *I hope*
Rotom-f @ Choice Specs
Nature: Modest
Ability: Levitate
EV's: 252 HP / 252 SP.ATT / 6 SPE
Role: Special Sweeper
~Blizzard
~Shadow Ball
~Signal Beam
~Thunderbolt
I know it's quite an unusual choice for a Special Sweeper, but he seems to be doing well, with his 508 Special Attack. Very little stands in his way. I've put 252 in HP so that he withstands a hit, whilst still being able to give out a few. I don't *think* there is anything which I wouldn't do at least neautral damage to, but if anyone spots something, let me know =]
Raticate @ Focus Sash
Nature: Brave
Ability: Guts
EV's: 252 ATT
IV's: 31 in ATT; 0 in everything else
Role: HP Hacker / WTF???!!!
~Endeavor
~Quick Attack
~Me First
~Sucker Punch
Haha, good old Raticate... not exactly your typical Poke, but he is so underestimated. Obviously too outclassed to move up any tiers, but if you use him right, he can wreck even the most viscous of Pokemon.
Firstly, his nature: I need this guy to be slow. I originally did him with max speed, but quickly realised that I need him to be slower than everything for Endeavor to actually be effective. If he's faster, he's not going to do much at all. Plus, with his other 3 moves being priority moves, there's really no need for a speed boost. So I've made him as slow as he can go.
When it comes to IV's and EV's, I need Raticate to actually take the biggest hit he can - he NEEDS to have awful HP and even worse defences, so that the majority of attacks are almost guaranteed to take him right down to a Focus Sash save. Then, all is needed is a Quick Attack, and the opponent is done. He even manages to do considerable damage to the next Pokemon who is brought out. If a Pokemon is left with 1HP, you're generally going to want to attack it straight away to take it out, which gives me the perfect chance to use Sucker Punch or Me First (ha, managed to do amazing damage to a Tyranitar who thought he could finish me off with a Brick Break - unlikely! Have it back! At 1.5x the power! :P)
There are of course obvious flaws with Raticate - ones which he shares with Shedinja: any status effect is going to cripple his strategy and he can say goodbye if Sandstorm/Hail/Spikes/Stealth Rock are around as well. Which is why I need a Rapid Spinner. And that's where the following comes in:
Claydol @ Flame Orb
Nature: Relaxed
Ability: Levitate
EV's: 252 HP / 52 ATT / 108 DEF / 98 SP. DEF
Role: Spinner/Trickster
~Trick
~Rapid Spin
~Explosion
~Body Slam
Ok, firstly, I'm still unsure why I've gone for Body Slam here... I'm sure there was a tactical reason. If anyone can point it out to me, then let me know.
Anyways, Claydol is Raticate's savoir. He must ALWAYS come out before Raticate. It's just a must, because Claydol can save the rat from anything which will mess up his strategy.
I've chosen Trick and the Flame Orb here, because outside of Toxic, there's nothing status-wise that Claydol can really accomplish. Trick is normally accompanied by some form of Choice item, so opponents often get a shock when they immediately get burned. Because of this item choice though, I must always use Trick first, or else I screw myself over.
Explosion is just obvious ^_^
And finally, the EV spread is simply to get both defences at exactly 300. With max HP EV's, it is a bit of a pain to take down. If only Claydol had a better recovery move than Rest though...
Suicune @ Life Orb
Nature: Modest
Ability: Pressure
EV's: 252 SP.ATT / 252 HP / 6 SP. DEF
Role: Special Sweeper
~Tailwind
~Extrasensory
~Hydro Pump
~Ice Beam
Haha, no one seems to expect a Tailwind Suicune, which is why I love her. One Tailwind and she just sweeps away. There's really not much more to say here...
