NO SPEED BOOST .CRY
[Overview]
-Good coverage (hits Steel-types and Tyranitar)
-Frail
-Fake Out
-Solid Speed
-Not extremely strong
-Outclassed by Blaziken as a pure sweeper
[SET]
name: Mixed Fake Out
move 1: Fake Out
move 2: Overheat / Heat Wave
move 3: Close Combat
move 4: Feint / Taunt / Protect (nape doesn't get detect does it?)
item: Focus Sash
ability: Blaze
nature: Naive / Hasty
evs: 180 Atk / 76 SpA / 252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
-Fake Out can help out Infernape's teammates, and it can be useful since Infernape is faster than almost all other Fake Out users
-Flare Blitz is a strong STAB move
-Close Combat hits Pokemon that resist Flare Blitz with STAB
-Detect lets Infernape scout, used over Protect in case of Imprison
-Feint can be used over Detect to hit Pokemon who Protect predicting a Fake Out
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
-EVs maximize Infernape's power and Speed
-Focus Sash guarantees Infernape will live at least 1 hit
-Life Orb can be used for more power, but Focus Sash really helps Infernape out
-Hidden Power Ice can be used to hit Pokemon such as Landorus-T, Salamence, and Latios / Latias which would otherwise eat Infernape alive
-Flare Blitz can be used for a physical Fire-type STAB, but it breaks Infernape's sash, so is best used with Life Orb
-Grass Knot can be used to hit Pokemon such as Jellicent and Gastrodon
-Sunny Day can help Infernape out since it gets rid of sandstorm and boosts Infernape's Overheat (Ninetales and Sunny Day Cresselia are good partners)
-A lot of Pokemon in the tier can take advantage of Infernape's Fake Out support
-Chandelure completely walls this set, so Dark-types such as Darkrai can be good partners
-Follow Me / Rage Power support can be useful to draw attacks away from Infernape (Togekiss, Amoonguss)
-Wide Guard support can be useful to stop moves such as Surf and Earthquake
-Pokemon such as Deoxys-A, Latios, and Thundurus-T can be good partners since they benefit from Feint
-Pokemon that can help deal with Trick Room are also appreciated
[Other Options]
-Special set with Fire Blast and Focus Blast
-Mach Punch for priority
-Sunny Day, although this is usually best for bulkier Pokemon
-Rock Slide is a spread move
-Earthquake is another spread move for Infernape
-Stone Edge
-Helping Hand
-Encore
-Swords Dance
-Nasty Plot
-U-Turn
-Quick Guard
[Checks and Counters]
-Bulky Pokemon can easily tank Infernape's attacks so long as they are not weak to them (Cresselia, Landorus-T, etc.)
-Bulky waters also wall this set (Jellicent, Gastrodon, Gyarados etc.)
-Chandelure walls Infernape completely unless it is running a move such as Rock Slide, Earthquake, or Stone Edge
-Politoed can get up rain and make Infernape even weaker
-Sandstorm / hail can break Infernape's sash (Tyranitar / Abomasnow)
-Weavile has a faster Fake Out than Infernape and can flinch it before it can move
-Intimidate users can weaken Infernape greatly (Landorus-T, Hitmontop, Gyarados, Salamence)
-The latter two resist both of Infernape's STAB moves and wall it completely
-Latias / Latios and Dragonite resist both of Infernape's STAB moves and can OHKO it
-Trick Room and Tailwind can take away Infernape's greatest asset in its Speed, so Pokemon such as Cresselia and Tornadus, respectively, are good counters
-Swift Swim Pokemon can destroy Infernape in rain
-Excadrill can too in sand
-Tornadas and Deoxys-A check it, as do most things that are faster such as Shaymin-S
