typhlosion didn't make a girl pregnant and just cursed her. it's just that for some reason pregnancy is a really common curse in old japanese folktales so that bit got lost in translation since japanese is really hard to translate to english. similar examples of this phenomenon include the kara no kyoukai translation in which the translator says a "ward" (they're actually called bounded fields) is meant to keep people out of an area and it does so by giving them a weird feeling which is completely untrue because bounded fields are actually meant to keep magic in so you don't waste it/reveal magic to the outside world.
