"Due to it's clumsy nature, it's constantly rebuilding itself. Due to this, they know most caves in Brunica by heart. / This Pokemon is often used by many Rangers, Backpackers, and Hikers due to their excellent navigation ability in caves."

Rules:
  • For this free slate, the mandatory flavour criteria is that your submission(s) are among the options utilised by Hex Maniacs, Psychics or Fairy Tale Girls; the former two Trainer classes specialise in Psychic- and Ghost-types, while Fairy Tale Girls specialise in Fairy-types. As usual, failure to include proper explanations will automatically disqualify your submission.
  • Regional forms/Evolutions (ex. :Zigzagoon-Galar: :Linoone-Galar: :Obstagoon::Wooper-Paldea: :Clodsire:), ecological similar Pokemon (ex.:Toedscool::Toedscruel:), and cross-gen additions to existing Pokémon such as Baby Pokémon or new-stage evolutions (ex.:Azurill: :Annihilape:) are permitted.
  • While submissions in every free slate have a hard BST limit of 550, you should not be intentionally aiming at or above this threshold unless you have both valid competitive handicaps and flavour justifications for your intended sub. (ex. :Slaking: :Archeops:) The BST average of the vast majority of final evolutions and/or single stages tends to peak around 525, so this is the power level you should realistically aim below.
  • Pseudo-Legendaries (ex. :Dragapult::Goodra-Hisui:) and Exceptional Evolutions (ie. :Archaludon:) cannot be submitted until their designated slate, which will likely be one of the final slates.
Name: Subs with no given name are ineligible to be voted.
Counterpart(s) / Evolutionary Members: Write the names of the previous stage or counterparts of the Pokemon, if applicable. For pre-evos, instead write the evolution method.
Typing: Remember to respect the rules of the ongoing slate; you may use these link for images: https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/types/Type.png.
Ability: Ability 1 / Ability 2 | Hidden Ability
Base Stats: HP / Atk / Def / SpA / SpD / Spe (BST) These can be written in any configuration you want, the important thing is that it also fits with slate-specific and general rules. New pre-evolutions’ BST have to be lower than the original, while evolutions’ BST is usually higher; for regional or convergent forms, their BST must match.
Height + Weight: How tall the Pokémon is in Meters (m) + how heavy the Pokémon is in Kilograms (kg). While the former is optional, the latter is required for weight-based moves.
Notable Moves: List the moves that this Pokémon will learn, both viable and flavor moves, though the former is more important. Once your submission is voted in, you will create a full movepool for it in the discussion phase.
Flavor (Required): Describe the lore/flavor/design of your Pokémon, why is it found here in Brunica? What connection does it have to Canada?
*Custom Elements:
Name: Try to use distinct combinations of words never used before for moves in Pokémon games, double-check on Showdown or Serebii.
Power: [Base Power of the Move, should be a multiple of 5]
Type: https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/types/Type.png
Category: https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/categories/Category.png (Physical, Special or Status)
Base Power: try to balance this, PP, effect and accuracy; only multiples of 5 are allowed as values.
Accuracy: write -- if it ignores accuracy and evasion checks; must be multiple of 5
Power Points: specify just the max PP if you want; eligible values are 1, 8, 16, 24, 32, 48, 64.
Effect: What the move does, including how many targets. Note that while custom elements are allowed, they should be distinct from already existing abilities/moves introduced as of SV and/or Desvega, and are relatively simple to code (Which means no more custom field effects, we just introduced a new (Poison) terrain in Desvega and a 'Primal Reversion' terrain in Lutakon. Also, if you think it's codable but the coding team disagrees, then you'd better be prepared to code it yourself if it wins.)
Priority: (Optional) The priority bracket of the move. Unless specified, it is assumed to have the standard priority of 0.
Flags (ex: Contact, Sound): [Specify which flags the move has. A full list can be found in the spreadsheet.]
Distribution: Specify if the move is exclusive to a particular evolutionary line; otherwise, list the criteria of Pokémon that are eligible to receive the submitted move.
Justification: If this is adjusted from an existing move, explain why it should be changed, both competitive AND flavour wise. Note that any changes you propose will carry to the Move you suggested only, not to any similar Moves. On that note, be sure that it is not similar to any existing Move introduced in any Generation X iteration or up to SV, otherwise it will be vetoed.

Permanent (Yes or No): [Specify whether or not the ability can't be suppressed, Skill Swapped, or copied]
Ignorable (Yes or No): [Specify whether or not the ability is ignored by Mold Breaker]
Distribution: Specify if the Ability is exclusive to a particular evolutionary line; otherwise, list the criteria of Pokémon that are eligible to receive the submitted ability.
Justification: If this is adjusted from an existing Ability, explain why it should be changed, both competitive AND flavour wise. Note that any changes you propose will carry to the Ability you suggested only, not to any similar Abilities. On that note, be sure that it is not similar to any existing Ability introduced in any Generation X iteration or up to SV, otherwise it will be vetoed.
Name: [Name of the item]
Effect: [What the item does, these should not be similar to any existing and relevant competitive items]
Can Be Removed (Yes or No): (Specify whether or not the item can be stolen or Knocked Off)
Ignored by Klutz (Yes or No): (Specify whether or not the item's effect is ignored by Klutz)
Fling Power & Effect: (The BP of Fling when used with this item and what secondary effect it could additionally have, like :Light Ball: causing paralysis)
Justification: If this is adjusted from an existing Item, explain why it should be changed, both competitive AND flavour wise. On that note, be sure that it is not similar to any existing Item introduced in a previous Generation X iteration or up to SV, otherwise it will be vetoed.
As previously noted, for every free slate such as this comes more regional dex nominations. You may additionally nominate up to two existing non-legendary nor mythical Pokemon families introduced in the mainline games or in a previous Gen X iteration as part of the initial "pre-dlc" regional dex. Counterparts (:Passimian::Oranguru:) and regional exclusive evos (:Mr. Rime::Clodsire:) serve as two distinct lines, other regional forms (:Marowak-Alola::Stunfisk-Galar::Tauros-Paldea:) count as one. Their final stages (or if they are a single stage) can additionally undergo adjustments to be buffed (if you feel they are undervalued) or nerfed (if you feel they are overpowered), just like a certain Pet Mod... [This serves akin to balance buffs as done by GF, such as :Rotom: forms becoming different from Electric/Ghost, :Gallade: getting Sharpness, :Shiftry: swapping Early Bird for Wind Rider, :Slowking: getting Chilly Reception, :Mantine: gaining +20 HP, and of course, :Aegislash: losing -20 to its BST. No, this is not us treading new ground, :Scovillain: was the forerunner to this idea.]
Name: [Name of the Pokémon]
Type: For mono-type Pokemon, you may either add or change the current type to another type, not both. For dual-type Pokemon, one of their original types must remain.
Stats
: Each stat change must be a multiple of 10. Up to a 20 point change from the original BST is permitted; the Pokemon is entitled to a buff if its BST is 470 or below; it is otherwise entitled to a nerf if its BST is 500 or above.
Abilities: For Pokemon with two Abilities, you may add another. For Pokemon with three, you are permitted to swap out one of their existing abilities. Ability changes are not permitted on a Pokemon with one singular Ability. Alternatively, you can rework one of their existing Abilities provided it has not already been reworked by someone else already. See the Ability template above.
Moves Changes: Up to four moves may be added and removed, adding to a total of eight moves. Alternatively, you can rework one of the moves they can learn, provided it has not already been subject to a rework already. See the template above.
Justification: [Explain in detail (as in, more than two sentences for each point) on why these changes should be added, both competitive AND flavour wise. Lack of either will disqualify the adjustment from being slated.]

This slate will last for at least 168 hours, and may be extended or reduced depending on forum activity.

You know, for a region based on Canada, Brunica hasn't introduced that many new Ice-types - and it's especially odd to me that the Tundra-catering slate gave us only one. Let's fix that, eh?

  • Morelull line - Shiinotic gets +20 Def, and both stages get access to Calm Mind as a TM. Rain Dish is replaced with Mycelium Might.
  • Impidimp line (no change) - Goblin myths are apparently A Thing in Canada, albeit brought in by the French.

Based on an Arctic jellyfish, a brain coral, and the trope of a brain in a jar, Cninapse is a floaty, round, entirely boneless life form entirely made of nervous tissue, most of which is contained in its big, pink, fleshy core, mostly hemispherical but with grooves suggesting the wrinkles and lobe division of the two halves of a brain; this in turn is kept in an icy bluish-white bell filled with a pale blue fluid, the ice itself shaped like both an upside-down jar and a top hat, with a few small icicles poking out from under the edge of the brim. There are two luminous blue-white nerves connected to the brain itself but dangling below the bell like jellyfish tentacles, which it uses both as appendages and to "hijack" the nervous systems of others in search of knowledge, since its brain is in a constant state of discomfort due to how cold it is and can only find relief when stimulated by learning new things, making it quite inquisitive to a troubling degree and a lot smarter than you'd expect of a Pokémon based on a clade without a centralized nervous system to speak of. This design would admittedly be more frightening than most on paper, but the nightmare fuel is diluted by a giant googly eye on the front of the bell with a black ring surrounding it, a black optic nerve extending from the right side and circling around the brain, giving the overall vibe of a cyclops creature wearing a monocle. Combine this with the top hat-shaped bell and you get a very gentlemanly-looking creature, to such an extent that you'd never guess that it feeds by temporarily taking over the brains of other creatures and stealing their knowledge and memories to metabolize them; victims are unharmed, but they'll soon find that they've forgotten things at random, and sometimes what they've lost their knowledge of may have been very, very important...

"The constant headache caused by the ice protecting its brain can only be remedied by learning something new. It uses its tentacles to briefly take over others' minds and metabolize their thoughts and memories."

Justification: Kinda like mix of Pollen Puff and Surf, but Electric-typed and gives allies a stat boost rather than a heal
Flavor:
Upon evolution, all six Cninapse have in fact merged together in the vein of Barbaracle, resulting in a colossal flying saucer-like creature based on a mix of a blue button siphonophore and a Portugese man o' war with a touch of an atmospheric jellyfish creature akin to Jean Jacket from Jordan Peele's Nope. The main brain-pilot is now noticeably larger than the rest of the colony, and now it has two big googly-eyes with black rings around them, and the optic nerves on either side now make them resemble a pair of cartoon nerd glasses, a la Sniffles from Happy Tree Friends. The main brain is encased in a dome-shaped tank of ice and chilly water like the cockpit of a spacecraft or the bowl of a giant park ranger's hat, on top of a huge, dish-shaped mass of ice-cold tissue forming the brim; chains of ice crystals like what Cryogonal has hang from the edges of the brim as well, the whole thing also invoking a storm cloud in shape and color. There are five glowy tentacles coming out from the center of the underside, ending with smaller frozen Cninapse heads of their own; the tentacles curve upwards before ending in these heads to give the impression of an arm holding up a magnifying glass or camera. The colony uses their combined psychic powers to float through the air, often high in the sky where they can hide themselves in clouds and reach down to tap into the minds of creatures far below them; in the wild they are fearsome predators of knowledge, overtaking whole communities for a day or two and making everyone study intensely before taking what was learned with them, but when trained properly they can serve as valuable lab assistants since both stages can transfer the knowledge they've fed upon back to their hosts if asked nicely enough, making this line a popular companion for academics and researchers.

Potential Competitive Gameplay:
Ice-types unfortunately don't make good tanks for the most part thanks to all of their type weaknesses, and despite having decent and balanced defenses, Cryophtore is held back by six of those including vulnerabilities to some very common and dangerous attacking types, to the point where being Fighting-neutral won't help it much. Its Speed stat only adds to its predicament, since being unable to outspeed most things that can threaten it makes it easy pickings for most of its counters... at least on paper. Taking a look at its level-up moveset, however, reveals a very different picture, in no small part because of a certain little status move available to precious few other Pokemon via level-up. This is in fact a 'mon practically born and raised for Trick Room shenanigans, not only being able to set it up itself but also packing the Special Attack, nonexistent Speed, and both powerful STAB and a variety of special coverage moves with which to seriously abuse it. Notably, Cryophtore has access to the famous BoltBeam combo, and combine this with STAB on Psychic and the equally effective trifecta of Dark Pulse/Shadow Ball/Focus Blast, and you have a Trick Room speed demon with frightening Special Attack and the potential to hit every single type for neutral effectiveness at the minimum. It does get a few other setup moves like Calm Mind and especially Nasty Plot, but retaining Trick Room and giving it another setup move at the expense of a coverage move might not be the smartest idea. There's definitely something to be said for getting a teammate to set up Trick Room before bringing this thing in, though - not only is its Speed stat so pathetic that actually getting it to set up Trick Room in the first place is a lot easier said than done, but having someone else do the job for it leaves it free to make use of Nasty Plot instead, or even its Electric Type Balm move which gives the same buff but isn't stopped by Taunt; either way, opponents would be wise to take advantage of its type weaknesses as early as they can, lest it get the chance to snowball its special firepower to hilariously disastrous effect.

"Upon evolving, Cryophtore enlists its shoal of Cninapse as research assistants. Together, the colony can make whole neighborhoods study intensely, so all its members can enjoy equal shares of their newly acquired knowledge."

This line is based on a combination of an atmospheric beast, a type of living UFO cryptid, and the titular fiends from Fiend Without A Face and other disembodied brain-and-nervous-system creatures. We need more Psychic-types that are downright freaky and with the Gulpin line already being stomach-themed, it's a wonder we haven't gotten a straight-up brain monster yet in canon, though I also stirred in some Arctic jellyfish and siphonophore elements to keep it from being too gross even by Pokémon standards. The big silly monocles and nerd glasses were also a deliberate addition to further dilute the nightmare fuel - I like the idea of even the scariest Pokémon having the potential to be friend-shaped, best encapsulated by the design philosophy proposed by Ken Sugimori himself that the "cool" aspects of a Pokémon work best when balanced out by something "uncool."

In the past, the range of Houndour was more widespread than it is now; settlers from Galar and Kalos feared the demonic flames and horrifying howls of these fierce predators and hunted them in large numbers, restricting them to scattered populations. The ones in Brunica were left stranded in Wendora's blizzards and, as such, were forced to either adapt or perish... and in a way, they did both at once. No longer would their flames burn anything anymore, but the poison that fueled them remained... and it is now far deadlier than ever before.

This Houndour is leaner and paler than its counterpart from Johto, with almost akin to Boltund's; its fur is a dark grayish purple with a pale purple-gray belly and snout, and its bone ridges more exposed by its emaciated state. The plate on its head has developed into a full-blown skull covering the top of its head, though its ears still poke out of it and its eyes are visible through the sockets. Its tail now trails off into a wisp of ghostly, toxic vapor, fading to pinkish purple at the tip; similar fume trails come out from its legs, just above the shackles over its paws. The shiny coloration in both stages of this line has gray-brown fur instead of purple, in reference to the carcasses of animals preserved in permafrost, while its normally purple fumes are the yellowish brown of something else entirely. Say it with me, everyone: "I said DART gun!!"

"A type of Houndour forced out of its homeland due to overhunting by settlers. Its grief over the loss of its old habitat has given it a new life, roaming the land in the dark of night in search of vengeance."

Justification: Ghost-type Gunk Shot clone - also Ghost-type Curse as a damaging move
Flavor:
Unlike the strictly quadrupedal Houndoom to which it bears a resemblance, Houndread is more akin to a modern Hollywood lycanthrope in build, but is still far more beast than man - its front paws have four digits each, three fingers and one thumb, all of which have large, sharp claws with a poisonous purple color; all four limbs still retain shackles. The chest and shoulders are also more humanoid in look but more akin to those of Lycanroc, and though it's still primarily quadrupedal, it can still rear up to attack with its claws in a manner more like a cat than a dog. The back half is otherwise similar to Houndoom's but with a wisp-like fume for a tail fading to purple at the end, like Brunican Houndour's but much larger and longer; the noxious wisps on the legs are also longer in the case of the forelimbs, and more wisps rise from the back between the rib-like armor sections, along with a "mane" with a similar look on the back of the neck. The scruffy fur retains the same color scheme as with Brunican Houndour, but patches of sickly gray skin are visible beneath, the body being emaciated and almost corpse-like. Notably, the skullplate on the head is now a full-blown skull fused with both the top of the head and its jaws, with a mouthful of exposed, jagged purple fangs and black eye sockets with eerie purple lights within. Notably, the horns (now growing straight from its skullplate) do not curl back and downward, but instead sweep outward and then back with multiple tines like deer antlers. This is meant to give it a connection to Wendora, though I personally imagine that particular Legendary to look like a ghastly, zombie-like humanoid rather than an undead were-deer, horns aside - the deer-skull head that many non-Native American depictions of the wendigo possess is in fact a strictly Euro-colonialist, modern addition. To this end, Houndread's not-deer appearance is in fact a product of that very same colonialism at the expense of the natural world, its very nature and life force irrevocably poisoned by the actions of hunters from a foreign land... which may explain why it absolutely hates humans and will turn its toxic, diseased fumes upon them without hesitation, before closing in for the kill with exposed teeth and savage claws. It's even said that its bite causes people to act strangely violent themselves, with many criminals claiming to have been bitten by the beast to justify their actions, though the veracity of these claims is a matter of some debate.

Potential Competitive Gameplay:
Physical sweepers are a dime a dozen in the competitive scene, but this one is rather remarkable when you look a bit closer. A Ghost-type physical attacker is already a rare sight to begin with, but one with any significant speed is practically unheard of! Perhaps the lack of physical Ghost-types in the days of yore was because there were few physical Ghost attacks, but this is where its signature move, Malevolent Maul, comes into play. Without having to worry about either losing half its HP when using Curse or being shut down by Taunt, Houndread can either boost the damage of this move with Strong Jaw to absolutely insane levels or block its opponent's ability by using it with Contagious - the latter of which can be especially nasty if the opponent needs its ability to properly function, and which synchronizes well with a deceptively powerful U-Turn attack if you want to use it for scouting. Its Poison-type moves are a sideshow but in case of Dark-types, either Strong Jaw-boosted Poison Fang or Gunk Shot with Contagious will do nicely. Coverage options include Ice, Grass, Dark, Bug, and even Fairy, giving it more options with which to murder any poor souls in its way, as well as enabling it to counter all four of the types it's weak to, although you'll have to pick between just two types at most, and that's not accounting for including a setup move like Hone Claws or Agility to give it the best chance of wreaking havoc before it goes down (and while it does get Drain Fang as a recovery move, its fragility is such that you're better off just tearing your foe to pieces with Malevolent Maul anyway). In the right hands, this hound of horrors can utterly decimate enemy ranks, but take care not to get careless with it - with its only Fighting-type coverage moves being Counter and Reversal, neither of which synergize well with its fast yet frail playstyle, Normal-types that can resist or no-sell Poison and especially Steel-types will have an easy time stopping it in its tracks, so you'll have to make sure that any such counters have been well and truly dealt with before putting its deadly bite to use.

"Without an inner flame to burn them, the poisons in Houndread's body spill out of pores in its skin, blighting the land around it. It's said that losing its birthplace to human civilization was what made it hateful and vindictive."

This line is, as noted, based on a wolf pup found in Canadian permafrost, as well as the idea of various ghost dogs and dog-men in cryptozoology. I was originally going to make it a Ghost/Ice Hound of the Baskerville expy (the weight is in fact an artifact of that, with the original story being published in 1901) with a direct connection to Wendora, but the latter already has that type combination, so I had to make it a different type combo; the Poison-type comes from both melting permafrost unleashing preserved diseases and toxic methane fumes, and decaying corpses being a haven for infectious pathogens, which in turn led to the flavor of it being a straight-up animal zombie. As noted, the deer-skull look of its face is also a reference to modern bastardized depictions of the wendigo, which are again a Hollywood addition and not true to the original wendigo myth; this theme of insensitive cultural appropriation in turn informed the lore of it having been victimized by human activity. Since zombie virus transmission in modern media is not unlike the same being said of certain other undead creatures in older folklore, I decided to stir in a bit of The Wolfman as well, leaning more into the supernatural aspect than Midnight Lycanroc which, admittedly, feels more like a werewolf only in design rather than in flavor.

Paras are normally at the complete mercy of the tochukaso mushrooms on their backs, which gradually takes them over as they evolve into Parasect; in other places, this also makes them competitors with the Morelull line. However, the harsh climate of Brunica, especially during the rampages of its mascot Legendaries, forced Paras and Morelull to both retreat into the safety of the many caves of the region. It seemed there were too little resources to support them both, and they would both be doomed if not for a remarkable occurrence. It isn't precisely known when the phenomenon of a cave-dwelling Paras with a paler exoskeleton than normal and a Morelull rooted to its back first occurred, but they must've discovered that by sharing resources instead of fighting over them, both could benefit from their respective strengths, the Paras offering mobility and the Morelull using its light to both navigate and lure in Grass-types, allowing them to split the spoils. There don't seem to be any tochukaso growing on this Paras, either - these particular mushrooms are in fact found nowhere in Brunica, having apparently been entirely outcompeted and replaced by the Morelull. Because both species evolve at the exact same level, their fusion also allows them to share level experience as well, and as such, the two of them evolve simultaneously.

"Paras and Morelull are normally fierce competitors, so it's thought that the harsh climate of Brunica was what led to their cooperation. Together, they haunt dark caves and forests, forcing Grass-type Pokémon to avoid such places."

Due to living in the darkness of caves, this Parasect has an even paler exoskeleton than its predecessor, and its foreclaws are also noticeably smaller, while the now-evolved Shiinotic is now rooted permanently to its back, its longer mycelium arms being what the pair use to pick up and manipulate things, including seizing prey. Despite being in full control of its body, though, Parasect still has milky-white, sightless eyes like the Kantonian version due to their subterranean lifestyle, so it is dependent on Shiinotic to guide it around. While the Parasect remains alive and well and lives symbiotically with its Shiinotic partner rather than being taken over, it should be noted that the Shiinotic, despite likewise depending on its "steed" to even move, has a free will of its own. They may regard each other as siblings in arms, as bickering yet inseparable rivals, as a rider and its loyal mount, or even as romantic partners (what with both sharing the Grass egg group), but however they view one another, their mutual cooperation is essential for their survival, and any friction between the two causes them to "lock up" and stop moving altogether until they come to terms again, though luckily, they generally don't stay angry with one another for longer than a day or two. Some have suggested trying the same process of fusion between Kantonian Paras and other kinds of mushroom Pokémon, but alas, this has proven unsuccessful so far - it seems that there's something about Brunica's climate and natural history specifically that causes the Paras/Parasect and Morelull/Shiinotic found there to see each other as friends rather than enemies. Still, perhaps it's worth investigating as to whether Parasect has managed to strike up similar partnerships with native mushroom Pokémon in other regions...

Potential Competitive Gameplay:
Kantonian Parasect, while interesting in concept, is sadly hampered by one of the worst combinations of ability and typing, and anything it can do competitively is done better by other Grass-types in the same tier. This sub was my way of trying to redeem it in terms of gameplay while also preventing it from getting implicitly lobotomized, and for what it's worth, Moonblast and Bug Buzz with 105 SpA aren't too bad a special-attacking combination - Moonblast even covers for Bug Buzz's ineffectiveness against Fighting, which alongside their 4X resistance to it enables this dynamic duo to serve as a useful switch-in to Fighting-type attackers. Coverage options include Poison, Psychic, Grass, and Ground, giving it more options against types that its STAB moves are walled by. Unfortunately, Parasect's terrible Speed is not improved at all even with its new Shiinotic friend, often forcing it to run Recover or Giga Drain just to stay relevant, while also preventing it from making use of such effective support moves as Spore, Leech Seed, or even Thunder Wave (Shiinotic sends its regards for that one), even without the extreme negative priority introduced by Mycelium Might. That said, though, that same nonexistent Speed combined with its impressive Special Attack can make it frighteningly effective as a Trick Room sweeper, enabling the pair to either make better use of the aforementioned support moves or set up with Calm Mind before unleashing their synchronized wrath upon their unsuspecting opposition.

"This Parasect carries its Shiinotic partner around in exchange for lighting with which they both attract Grass-type prey. While it retains full control over its mind, its companion has a will of its own, so if they disagree on something, they can't do anything."

A last-minute entry inspired by this DeviantArt comic, and also by the discovery that some species of cicada have formed a symbiotic relationship with the Cordyceps fungus that once parasitized them. I changed the choice of mushroom 'mon from Amoongus in the original comic to Shiinotic for flavor reasons and to give this line an interesting new typing, and to go with the lore I also gave the Parasect itself a few troglodytic characteristics, namely blindness and gradual loss of color, to distinguish it further from the unfortunately zombified Kantonian version.

Snolobe line (Snolobe, Freezerit, Icesty) of Desvaga: The Jangmo-o line returned in Galar and the Dreepy line returned in Paldea, so it’s not a stretch to see the pseudo-legend of Desvaga making their return here. No adjustments needed here.

Water Compaction: Now halve damage from incoming Water-type moves.
Moves Changes: + Nasty Plot (both)
Justification:
  • The increased Special Attack in exchange of Attack is due to being a Pokémon made of sand, thus unable to hit as hard as something with a more solid matter.
  • Water Compaction buff was done to make that Ability more worthwhile while staying true to it’s lore; too much water dan still melt Sandygast and Palossand into mud.
  • Nasty Plot are given to both given they are sinister Pokémon that pray on unsuspecting preys to absorb not just their soul, but also their flesh and bones to assimilate them.
  • The above changes are done so that Palossand (and Sandygast in LC formats) becomes a set-up Special Attacking Ground / Ghost wallbreaker that do not fear Water-type moves all that much.

Twas the eighth slate of Brunica, and the air got cold, as everything was not good as gold. An unlucky traveller happened to wander on that day, only to meet the new submissions, made of clay! So sit down and listen, to a tale of woe, on how a traveller's life was lost, from head to toe.....

On a weary August day the traveller went, to find some good Pokémon to catch for an event. But along the way he met a pumpkin on cue, not unlike a Pumpkaboo....

Flavor: Pumpkin pies are common dishes in Canada, and this Pokémon is no exception, even if it is literally just a Pumpkin with a classic Jack-O-Lantern face carved on it, with two red dots on the eyeholes. Said to only appear when the haunted past of Brunica is celebrated, this Pumpkin Pokémon obviously does not get along well with the Pumpkaboo line.

Flavor: Upon evolving, Gourbita starts leaking out pumpkin seeds out of it's mouth, each one filled with the screams of a soul it has devoured. It's leaf has now split into two, as does it's face: Each of it's two heads has a carved out nose, a pair of black eyes, and a green area on the top of it: However, only the top head has the leaves. An endless fountain of pumpkin seeds, many people have been driven insane trying to get to the bottom of it's seed storage in order to find what it's own insides look like, unaware that Gourbita doesn't have any.

Flavor: Dracuburr resembles a classical vampire with a Jack-O-Lantern head. From a body that wears a necktie around it, this Jack-O-Lantern head goes on the top, wearing a top hat with an orange stripe, alongside bright green hair. Two arms with white cuffs and orange hands extend from either end of the body, with a green cape shrouded around it's body. From a green belt with an orange jack-o-lantern symbol serving as the buckler, two legs with orange feet extend from them. At it's side are two bat-like shadows with red eyes, noses, and fangs that serve as it's companions. Using these shadows, Dracuburr can drain the lifeforce out of a person and turn them into a husk without them ever noticing any pain at all.

Flavor: This Pokémon resembles an adorable witch! From it's body which is decked with an orange bow tie, a pumpkin seed head goes on the top, wearing a witch's hat and bright green hair. It's two arms have green cuffs and white hands, with one of them carrying an umbrella with a pumpkin design that it can not only use to shield itself from attacks, but can also ride like a magical broomstick. Two black legs with orange shoes extend from a pumpkin dress with a face carved onto it, which attaches itself to the bottom of the body to complete the look. A very innocent and playful Pokémon with a love of magic, it can cast many spells to help it feed it's own pumpkin dress, which is in fact alive, but it often just likes to turn anything it sees into a pumpkin.

Flavor: According to the tale that dates back to the mid-18th century, the Headless Nun was an 18th-century resident of the area named Sister Marie Inconnue (Inconnue being the French for 'unknown') who was subsequently beheaded. Details of the story vary: in one version, a "mad trapper" cut off her head and ran into the woods with it. In another, two sailors cut off her head after she refused to divulge the location of a treasure. The story holds that Sister Marie's head was never found, resulting in her spirit forever roaming the area in search of it. Today, "Headless Nun" tours are among the tourist attraction offerings at French Fort Covein Nordin, now the City of Miramichi, New Brunswick.
Mariless draws inspiration from this legend, basically being a headless robe with two white stripes at the ends. It constantly searches for it’s missing head, and will constantly behead Pokémon that it thinks has this very head.

Flavor: Upon evolving, Behamichi’s robe becomes a lot longer, with a wave pattern at the bottom of it. It’s two baggy arms are now stuck together in a set of razor sharp stocks that resembles a chakram, allowing it behead other Pokémon a lot more easily. Two long ropes extend from the top of the robe, with an axe tip at the end of each one. It's said that if it ever breaks out of it's stocks, which it constantly tries to do with it's axe tips, heads will cease to exist.

Flavor: Drawing inspiration from La Chasse-galerie, Hejanoe resembles a canoe with broken oars: At the front of it is a pair of red eyes and a menacing smile. It tricks people into riding it, before it ferries them off to the afterlife with it's surprising ability to fly. Some people claim it is the ghost of a Lapras that failed to ferry any people in it's life.

Upon evolving, Chassnaught’s canoe like body becomes longer, and it’s smile turns into set of phantom based jaws. The red eyes have turned bright black, and blue scales decorate the top of its canoe. Its oars are now wide fins that can fly across both land, sea, and sky, and a giant mast with a skull symbol completes the looks. Those that ride it become it's crew, obedient to it's every command, though more often than not, Chassnaught will simply devour their soul whole before ferrying them off to the underworld, where they are chained for all eternity.

Flavor: This Pokémon line is inspired by Dungarvon Whooper, a ghost story told in a song composed by Michael Whelan, about the alleged murder along the Dungarvon River in central New Brunswick, Canada. Dooper is basically a cartoonish skeleton wearing a chef’s hat, hiding inside a wooden barrel. It drags people into this barrel, emerging only with a fine dish that, unaware to anyone, is made from it's victim's remains.

Flavor: Wholook is a tall skeleton Pokémon that retrains the chef’s hat from its previous form, though it now slightly resembles a conductor’s hat. The barrel has now turned into a set of body armor that resembles the jacket of a train conductor: A mustache and eyebrows made of fire completes the look. By pulling down a set of flames that resembles a train whistle, it attracts predators to it's spot, where it then cooks them up into fine dishes. It never wastes an organ, always using them to decorate it's dishes in some way.

Flavor: Trexarvon undergoes a complete change when it fully evolves, now taking inspiration from the Dungarvon Whooper train, a numbered passenger train operated by the Canada Eastern Railway running from Newcastle to Fredericton, along the Southwest Miramichi River. It’s arms and legs are still skeletal, though the feet now have three sharp tips at the bottom of them, and both have shoulder pads on them. The main body and the head have both merged into one giant disc, resembling the front of a bullet train, with a set of sharp teeth covering up a giant boiler. On the top of its head is a steam whistle covered by a set of sharp fins. Able to covert it's hands into giant kitchen knives, it wanders forests and cleaves up it's opponents into fine dishes. Be careful if you suddenly see a great feast in a forest: It is a sign that Trexarvon has claimed the lives of a group of travellers that are unlucky enough to embark on it. Those who see it are destined to ride it's train of fate to the afterlife.

Flavor: Upon evolving, Paynaimo undergoes a drastic change, being inspired by the Upper Gloucester Women's Institute of New Brunswick, which published one of the earliest known recipes of the Nanaimo bar! From a Nanaimo bar shaped body with a red gem in the middle, a candy wrapper dress extends from the bottom, with a pair of legs resembling Nanaimo Bars coming from the bottom. On each of the sides of the body are two arms with pink tips at the end. The head itself has a stream of scarlet hair running down the sides, with a Nanaimo bar lodged on the right hand side, with candy wrappers on either side of it. A very innocent and also kind of maniacal Pokémon, it walks across every food source it comes across, and tests it with it's signature rock solid lollipop made of gemstones. If it finds even the slightest fault in it, it will smash it to smithereens while giggling maniacally. As such, people referred to Paynaimo as "The Famine Fairy", as they woke up to see that Paynaimo had destroyed all of their food supplies.

THE END!!!

(By the way, Lucario now gets Crunch, Bonemerang, Hold Back (Via a special event that distributes it as a Riolu, meaning it also gets access to the move) and a new Balm Move! It also gets....RAGE FIST?! NERFED?!)
Name: Rage Fist
Changes: Power increases by 11 for each time the user is hit during the battle.
Justification: Like the Last Respects nerf, Rage Fist's power boosts were just too much for the metagame to handle, especially on a Pokémon with high attack! Now capping at 116 power, this move should make a great Ghost-type coverage attack with a focus on risk vs. reward for many Pokémon with fists, potentially as an egg move!
fe1u4xv.png

Name: World's Beginning
Type: =
Category: =
Effect:
The user faints. The new Pokémon heals itself for 25% of it's health and has all of it's stats increase by 1.
Priority: -1
Flags: None
Distribution: Type Balm exclusive move: Requires Psychic Balm and a Psychic-type status move. (Only Lucario can learn this) Also unlocks Riley Costume!
Justification: This move is inspired by Lucario's sacrifice in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, while the Riley Costume, which is purely aethestic and has no effect on gameplay, is inspired by Skylander's Ninja Stealth Elf, which unlocks a similar costume with an upgrade the original version did not have. A possible event would distribute a level 10 Riolu holding a Psychic Balm to access the costume early when it evolves into Lucario, distributed similarly to events such as the Blazikenite Torchic and Steven's Shiny Beldum. It's moveset would be Metal Claw, Feint, Hold Back, and Agility.

I know we nommed this guy in already but I'm feeling like it's evolution time for it as well.

Name: Bouffallbo [bouffant + buffalo + balbo, a beard style]
Counterpart(s) / Evolutionary Members: Bouffalant
Typing: Psychic/Ground [plz also retcon normal Bouffalant to Normal/Ground if this wins]
Ability: Admonish* / Sap Sipper | Rock Head
Base Stats: 100 HP / 135 Atk / 115 Def / 40 SpA / 115 SpD / 45 Spe [550 BST]
Height + Weight: 2.9m / 287.3 kg
Notable Moves: Bouffalant + Zen Headbutt, Psychic, Calm Mind, Psyshield Bash, Shadow Ball, Stealth Rock, Sandstorm
Flavor (Required): You can't get more Canadian, and spiritual, without talking about the buffalo, one of the most significant animals in Canadian history. This evolution takes the same 'hair' motif but adds more luscious locks under its head, resembling a beard which buffalo are known for. Bouffalbo emerge as leaders of the Bouffalant herd they are raised in, and are revered across Brunica as symbols of wisdom. In times of tragedy, it will sacrifice itself for its herd without hesitation and supports other species of Pokemon that share its habitat. Some people joke that its hair is so big because it knows so much. In ancient times, many would consult a Bouffalbo for guidance. Evolves by leveling up 5 times while holding the 'Herd Leader's Horn' while also being 10 levels higher than another party Pokemon. Bouffalbo also gets access to the 'Dread Stampede' Balm Move.

Admonish: When the user uses a move, changes type to match the move's type at the beginning of the turn. Once per switch in.

Sub Reviews time, veto-worthy (or at the very least questionable) things are in red
Ciniapse, Cryophtore
I suppose people think Brunica is Canada after a nuclear winter. (Dark-types are actually leading in the most new mons introduced right now) On the other hand, if people in the future complain about a particular type that doesn't match the locale, we have Brunica to say "we had an icy land that doesn't have many Ice-types. So stop complaining that we have too much water and not enough Water-types."
Onto the effects of Neural Network: What do you mean by "Deals damage (if applicable) and gives a 2x boost to SpA and SpD for itself and all of its allies."?
Brunican Clobbopus, Frostloc
Octo-Beam is z slightly better Focus Blast, and given Limber's niche Precision probably will already be the preferred ability. The only nitpick I have with this sub is the name, I'll admit.
Jampkin, Gourbita, Dracuburr, Salebelle; Mariless and Behamichi; Hejanoe and Chassnaught; Dooper, Wholook, and Trexarvon; Canlumi, Paynaimo
:Pumpkaboo: Ripoff: The most glaring flavour issue, what is the Oriva Region? I know I referenced my own region sub for the Yiseng line, but at the very least, it's something that has been already mentioned, and even in the bleak scenario that Jiaquo never gets chosen, we still have "the east" that is established. Body Gourd seems interesting, Midnight Carve is niche. {Addition: Oriva threw me off too much, Salebelle's Special bulk is also too much, shift at least 30 points from its HP and 10 points from its Sp. Def.}
Give the boot: Clueless head is humorous logic. Cleave Off is a fun inversion of Knock Off.
Wellerman: Ferryman's an interesting Ability, granting one turn of Protection. Underworld Ferry's a one-time nuke of a Balm Move. As for Last Respects... you're gonna have to either remove the move or nerf it.
Trains: Trexarvon's physical bulk is higher than Skeledirge's, not to mention it knows Iron Defense and has access to recovery. Please nerf its Defense by at least 25 points. Crooked Cook and Silver Colorado are reliant on Berries, so they're alright.

I can accept that you want to give it an evo, there's already going to be a upcoming slate that deals with this, but no, we literally just gave it an adjustment, your request for Bouffalant's type change is vetoed.
...Admonish is Protean. I'm going to admonish you to just give it Protean and not make another direct clone, which, as listed in the templates, is illegal.

I was under the impression that a Type Balm move would convert literally any move of the same type, including status ones (this line does, after all, learn both Thunder Wave and Discharge by level-up, and the TMs are planned to include SO many Electric moves, too). I'm checking the basics now and I'm not sure whether this has been refuted or not, but what I meant in this case was that if a status move was converted into a Type Balm move, the latter wouldn't deal any damage because the original move doesn't. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this, though, so I can keep whatever is advised in mind for future Type Balm proposals.

Second (and might be last) sub review, questionable things are in red, veto-worthy things are also in bold.
Brunican Dhelmise, Wreckitanic; Nositato, Springishi, Plowudgie
The Sinkening 2: Titanic Boogaloo: It's probably not going to ask you to draw it like one of those Kalosians, but it's got a good offensive profile.
Fae: Grassy abusers.
Rafskull, Phantooner, Spectraleon; Tabbit, Harcana; Petilim, Limigant
Pirates of the Brunica: Part of the ship, part of the crew... and this is one hell of a ship.
Graveyard of roses: Liligant's niche was dancing. This one dances less and tries to be defensive. [/spoiler]

Final sub review, you have 48 hours until the voting phase begins to finish your current submissions:
Vvispir, Prowstrix; Brrmanook; Bewear-Brunica
Brunican Houndour, Houndread
Elkrosis is going to be picking fights with Houndread. On the other hand, Contagious might work better as an inverse Mummy in terms of coding. (Perhaps it activates after an attack is used on the first turn the user is out?). As for Malevolent Maul... does that also include the user losing half its max HP, or just the part where the cursed Pokémon will lose ¼ of its maximum HP at the end of each turn?
Brunican Mantine, Pantaray; Cruxdisc
First off, reminder that it's two Pokemon lines to be nominated per person. You have three, namely the Vulpix lines, the Remoraid line & the Mantyke line. Remove one of the nominations.
The fighter ray: Physical Rotom with more emphasis on Special bulk. That stat distribution is still going to be outclassed by Dondozo & Tatsugiri in Doubles, though.
The heart arrow fish: Very much support. Unlike Tatsugiri, it has no presence as itself.

Thanks for the feedback :luvdisc:
So, Cruxdisc is considered as a separate line?
EDIT: solved

I'm okay with the suggested change i.e. if the user succeeds with an attack on the first turn they're out (including if they're switched back in after switching out), they spread the ability; I'll make an edit accordingly. And for the signature move, only the cursed target losing a quarter of its max HP applies - the user won't lose HP if the move succeeds.

Before we begin the voting stage for this Supernatural slate, let the record show the initial returning mons who will join the Brunican Dex:
  • The Salazzle line (Salazzle can now learn Sleep Drain & Fiery Dance; Salazzle {and Salandit by extension} gains the Ability Intimidate)
  • The Snolobe line
  • The Sandygast line (Both have 20 points transferred from their Atk to SpA, can now learn Nasty Plot & their Ability Water Compaction is reworked)
  • The Gastly line (Can now learn Poison Terrain, Snatch, Toxic Shock & a new Balm Move)
  • The Mantyke line
  • The Remoraid line
  • The Elgyem lines {Unovan, Lorian & Desvegan}
  • The Morelull line {Shiinotic get +20 to its Def, can now learn Calm Mind & its HA replaced with Mycelium Might}
  • The Impidimp line
*While the Lucario line was also nominated, the specifics of its nomination require it to instead be moved to the slate that deals with Event Distributions. Do not consider it nominated yet.
