1) This is the same game series with several moves/abilities that do the same thing. The same game where Delibird has both Vital Spirit AND Insomnia.
2) Stat changes are possible (as confirmed with Sandshrew-A and Sandslash-A).
3) The lower tiers enjoy new toys as well.
The same game that gave us Fan Rotom with Levitate, and Stunfisk with Limber.

About the snow cloak Sandslash, its possible that evasion abilities in S/M maybe allowed in OU after voting. Imagine Sandslash-A into a Substitute + Sword Dance just Ice Shard and Iron Head everything. I don't mean give Sandslash a Substitute as a move (since it may not have the speed and bulk). I would Baton Pass it.

Evasion clause doesn't include weather-based abilities anymore since after 5th gen weather has 5(8) turns limit. Still, it's highly likely that all these Alola forms will have hidden abilities, maybe more useful than the ones already announced (everyone is hoping for a sand rush equivalent for hail as A-Sandslash's HA, and Snow Warning for A-Ninetales).

I guess those three are only good to get Traced & Skill Swapping. lol

EDIT: we all have been waiting for a sand rush equivalent forever. Some people may not be interested in fog weather, but I would love for Gamefreak to upgrade it mechanically into the franchise.

The Sandcastle Pokemon is, well, how do I put it...I love it and hate it. Not sure why, but I just do. Fire/Ghost Marowak is cool as well but slightly expected, given the Fire Captain trains with his Marowak. Honestly the thing I like the most from this is the return of the Evil Team. I like the Evil Teams in Pokemon (bar Team Flare). Mabye it's just nostalgia but I have a fondness for them, and they can be amazing when done right.

To be fair, levitate Rotom-Fan was introduced when Rotom-Fan was not flying type, but ghost type.
Limber Stunfisk was introduced when Electric types could be paralysed.

Ok, it has become a waste of potential afterwards, but it had some sense when it started. Not like they plagued them on purpose for no reason.
It was still difficult to do so since it is usually only seen through Thunder Wave or a lucky Thunderbolt. Moves like Body Slam or Stun Spore aren't the most common.

aaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA GHOST/FIRE MAROWAK
I gotta be honest though, that's some... very strange artwork for it. It literally looks like the Gen 3 artwork was photoshopped a little. Ah well.
HOPEFULLY this'll make Persian and Marowak useful. Marowak's my favourite ground-type - errr, former ground-type - so I'd love to see it work out. Especially if it's still physically-based, becomes fast, and can still use thick club...

Yeah, I remember those days, in D/P on the ShoddyBattle server, electric/ghost Rotom-Heat countering Gyarados. I like their original types. I don't want to sound too opinionated, but Rotom-W is way too overuse compared to the others. I wish on S&M, Rotoms would return back to original typing (but it is highly unlikely). I like the Alola Pokedex design. I'm hoping to see more Rotom.

Alolan Marowak's ability is still unknown. I would to see it still have Rock Head for some good Flare Blitz. However, it still need something better for the metagame. Speaking of Thick Club... why not a Alola Farfetch'd with a stick as well?

Nothing really interesting, other than the predicted Fire Alolan Marowak and the sand castle Pokemon.

What happened to reptiles, Game Freak? You've barely revealed any.

If you don't think the Bewear cub is adorable, you don't have a soul whatsoever.

Also Alolan Meowth looks like it would say "I'm better than you and you know it".
Both statements here are true.
Well, this is a fancy bit of news. I, for one, welcome our new sandcastle overlords. I was always a fan of ghost types that decide to possess something. It should ALWAYS be the exception to the "inanimate object Pokemon suck" rule since at least there's a bit of possession magic that explains everything (like the Honedge line).
Always a good time for a Simpsons quote. And we really need more Ghosts that are possessed objects. It's one of the reasons I really love the Rotom forms (that and it doesn't stop being funny to win using a washing machine).

Sandcastle pokemon lol I like it's design better than Golurk tbh.

I guess the "leaked pokedex" was a washout too. It didn't show a pre evo for Bewear, nor a ground/ghost type. Next time I'll take it with a grain of salt.

I am curious about Rockruff though. I wonder if it'll be multiple evolutions (one for days one for night). It would seem different, but we had that with Espeon/Umbreon so I am not sure why they are trying to keep it a secret.

Well, they said it holds a secret with the three starters so maybe it evolves based off of what one is in your party, or something like that.

OMG I love, I love the sand castle. That Pokémon is about to eat some SOULS. A Pokémon who got killed by a child with his shovel, now it seeks revenge killing Pokémon and trainers, doing more sand castles with their corpses.

Got to admit that the SM crop of Pokemon has been really solid so far. It has already surpassed Gen 4 and 5 IMO and if the rest of the Pokemon remain this well thought out and designed it may even give my cherished Gen 2 a run for its money. Almost all of the Pokemon revealed have an excellent design and those that don't are either not fully evolved (so their potential is not revealed yet) or have a well thought out lore that explains why they are not easy to love (i.e Bruxish's colour clashing to give the opponent a headache and Bewear being a clumsy teddy bear of death). I think the reason for SM's success has been them trying to make each new Pokemon highly original, by either giving them a unique ability, move, form change or typing to make it stand out. Also Alora Ninetales already sits as a top 3 Pokemon without even seeing it in action yet. Umbreon finally has a contender for my favourite Pokemon!!

Picking who is going to be in my final team won't be easy this time. For example I was set on using Mimikyu as my ghost, until I saw Marowak and Shirodesuna today. All of them not only have amazing designs but look strong enough to carry my team if GF play their cards right. Do I use the copy-cat ghost with one of the most powerful and entertaining abilities ever created? Do I use my favorite gen 1 ground type that has finally taken spiritual form and can spam thick club without fears of burns? Or do I use the nostalgic (I made a lot of detailed sandcastles as a child) sandcastle of doom which is probably the most competitively viable (arena trap/shadow tag seems inevitable based on its lore)? Even when I come to a decision I will miss not using the other 2 ghosts so post-game I will definitely be getting and raising them. This means I will be getting plenty of time enjoying raising Pokemon I like and so giving the game its longevity. And I've only talked about which ghost to use today, let alone which other 4 Pokemon I will have for the elite 4 (Alora Ninetales is not going anywhere). I've not been this spoiled for choice since Gen 2 so I'm very hopeful that SM could be one of the best Pokemon games ever created.

Holy new information!
Straight up first thing, I had a theory earlier about Rockruff and starters possibly getting the bond system, and to me, Rockruff getting this little spotlight in addition to becoming the protagonist poke of a new manga (like Ash&Greninja) really seems to hint towards that. Starters shouldn't need any justification since they are your first poke as well.

As far as other thoughts: Sweet lightning is baby Bewear adorable someone help me. Marowak is pretty much what people figured and the fish school is honestly pretty sick imo.

Out of curiosity: In previous "new gen" games, how many Pokemon are we typically NOT aware of when the game releases? I.e. what's the difference between the sum total of all of GF's official leaks, and the actual games themselves, bar datamined legends? I like finding out about new Pokemon, but holy MOLY I really want to be surprised by the Alola forms when I'm actually playing. I'm hoping GF don't give us everything in advance, but I can't recall what their previous track record is.

Not surprised by the Pokedex "leak" being fake, but I am surprised about Bewear. I did actually figure that for a single stage evolution.

Evil Team's been revealed! Not sure how a Skull motif could tie into an organization that wants to exploit Alola as a tourist trap, so yeah. More possible leak debunking. Plumeri (girl on the evil team) looks like a grown up Pubk version of Mira, but that's just due to similar designs. The yellow pigtail makes me wonder if Lillie is related. (Doubtful. Odds are Lillie's secret is that she's the champ.)

Dark-type meowth seems neat, but the reasoning behind Fire/Ghost Marowak seems cool: evolved that way to fend off predators. Most likely Alolan Ninetails if I had to guess.
