Hey, what's up smogon? Well, my last post didn't get many responses or views so let's hope this team is more fire than the other. (Pun intended) The last team I made, was meh. It was fun as hell team, it just was too frail for my taste.
Sun Team Overview
Sun teams are overshadowed by the other weathers like sand and rain. I believe sun to be pretty good weather that not many people realize. Sun lets you shoot out high powered fire attacks even doing a decent amount to things that resist it. Sun also gives mons with chlorophyll, doubling their speed. Sadly, there is only one good user that's released, and that's shiftry. When venusaur comes out it'll be a good user of chlorophyll but at the moment, shiftry is the only good one.
This team came from a big inspiration from one of the best sun teams by the goat himself...Brazy Sun by Blunder. This team was fricken good as heck and not many realized it. Now some mons got snapped so I can't make the exact team but I made adjustments.
The Team
Torkoal @ Heat Rock
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Yawn
- Lava Plume
Torkal is a obvious teammate for a sun team. It sets up rocks, spines them away and potentially puts something to sleep with yawn. It is surprisingly bulky taking 4x weak moves and live to tell the tale.
252 Atk Darmanitan-Galar Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Torkoal: 132-156 (38.3 - 45.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Excadrill Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Torkoal: 192-228 (55.8 - 66.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Dracovish Fishious Rend vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Torkoal: 246-290 (71.5 - 84.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Fishious Rend calc is without sun so its even less damage with sun up.
Shiftry @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Sucker Punch
- Brick Break

Shiftry @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Sucker Punch
- Brick Break
No sun team is without a chlorophyll user. Shiftry is the only available user that can touch ferrothoron, has decent stats, and good movepool. I have sucker punch for shiftry to kill other mons outside of sun since its speed isn't the best without it. SD gives Shiftry the attack to kill things with ease. Honestly, Shiftry ain't bad at all.
Darmanitan-Galar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Gorilla Tactics
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Flare Blitz
- Earthquake
- U-turn
Darmanitan-Galar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Gorilla Tactics
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature

- Flare Blitz
- Earthquake
- U-turn
Darm is without a doubt the best OU mon in sword and shield. It has u-turn for momentum and the sun boosted its flare blitz making no steel type have a chance of living. Darm can revenge kill many mons and wall break for Shiftry and Chandalure. Darm is pretty basic but hey, abuse it before its banned from OU.
Chandelure @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
Shiny: Yes
Happiness: 160
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Fire Blast
- Memento
- Trick
Chandelure @ Choice Specs

Happiness: 160
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Fire Blast
- Memento
- Trick
Chandelure is a fantastic special attacker with a fire blast under the sun that could blow everyone's face off. It has trick to cripple things like corsolla and pex. Memento is to let shifty setup and force switches. Infiltrator is so it goes over substitute mons and kill them.
Seismitoad @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Toxic

Seismitoad is the water switch in. Being a sun team makes it very weak to water type moves. It also forms a good defensive core with corviknight. The toad takes electric and fire moves for corv. Seismitoad is a good pivot and doesn't lose momentum doing so.
Corviknight @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 180 SpD
Impish Nature
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Defog
- U-turn

Finishing the team is corv. Corv is a good pivot providing defog for hazards and u-turn for momentum. Corv takes grass moves for seismitoad and the toad takes electric and fire for corv. Corv is able to switch into lots of attacks from lots of mons in ou.
Weaknesses
Gyradose- Gyra is a fricken menus. It sets up on a lot of the team and kills everyone. Try keeping rocks up in case if it's not heavy-duty boots and play very aggressively. Don't let it set up over its gg, make aggressive doubles or you'll lose. Weaknesses
Rain- Now rain is an almost imposable game to win. Rain weakens fire moves, gets ride of the sun and boosts water moves. Honestly, you could play a near-perfect game and still lose. The only way you can win if seismitoad is alive but, if your opponent predicts a switch in then hits the toad with a non-water move, the toads going to worn down.
Hydreigon- Hydreigon sets up on a lot of the team and kills. A good way to beat it is to let darm come in as many times as possible before it subs up. If it subs up then its game over. Make aggressive switches and don't let hydreigon come in for free.
Overview
This brazy sun is very good in this meta. I believe one of the good things about it is that it's not popular so people don't know the true power of sun and underestimate it. Try setting up sun right away to maximize all the mons usefulness. Try and use darm and chandelure to u-turn around and break things for shiftry or for each other. I would try to chip pex because of it wall a lot of the team and is difficult to break. Try and use some darm eqs on it. Try and keep rocks off the field with rapid spin and defog. Torkoal can yawn on mons that try and take advantage of it to set up or whatnot, eliminating a mon from the fight.
Try the team out and see for yourself! This team is very strong and super fun to play with.
