Chapter 42. The adventures of Huesitos.
I now need to train 3 Mons. I choose Huesitos (Cubone), Gaseosa (Koffing) and Coral (Corsola) for that..
Actually the above picture is pretty wrong in terms of colors, this is the real sprite:
During the training, most of the time was spend at Mount Mortar. Why? Because of this:
Supposedly Cubone have 5% to hold Thick Club, but I am pretty sure I killed more than 20 Cubones before getting one.
After the training, I go to Laventer Town and enter the Radio Tower. Despite rumour of something weird happening there, there is nothing of interest except the Radio Expansion Card.
With my Radio updated, I go to Vermilion City. Not to wake up the Snorlax, but the Vileplume of Shamouti Island:
No special moves on this Vileplume, but an Absorb Bulb instead. Not a bad item.
Catching Vileplume allows me to enter Shamouti Tunnel, inwhich the cave music from DPP sounds.
I defeat some trainers and then find a guy who wants to buy my Nuggets at a high price:
On the other side of the Tunnel, there is Warm Beach:
Best Unova Route theme (Route 11) sounds here. As in every Orange Islands area, there are no wild Mons despite having grass.
In the house there is an old couple without dialogue and also a book that tells the story of Kanto Legendary Birds and Lugia.
To the south, there is another house:
Inside there 2 Move Tutors, but both teach the same move, Body Slam:
Even more to the South, there is a Shrine with a talking Slowking:
In the actual beach, there a dude that sells Shell Bells, I buy one:
I use Surf in the Water, arriving to Shamouti Coast. After beating the trainers there, I arrive to the Fire Island:
At the top of the island, there is a shrine, but nothing else:
On my way to the second island, I encounter a spanish tourist (though the use of the world "acá" means she might be from Argentina instead):
...muy lejos!
Sightseer Pilar ends up being the only trainer of her trainer class in the entire Shamouti Island that doesn,t have a level 50 Bulbasaur. Instead she has 4 Mons, being one of the strongest trainers of the entire island. Unfortunately for her, her lead Antorcha (Magby), used Sunny Day, allowing Huesitos to use Flame Charge twice. Luna the Espeon and Linterna (nick I use quite often) the Lanturn died in one hit. Last Mon had a hilarious nick:
It died from one Flare Blitz, but the battle was still quite fun due to the nicknames. I swear I wasn,t involved at all in this game, yet there are people out there that think like me when putting nicks.
Ice Island has an Ice Puzzle, of course:
Just like in the previous Island, the only reward for coming there is an item. In Fire Island it was a Heat Rock, here it was an Icy Rock.
The Lighting Island similarly gives me a Damp Rock, but there is nothing else there. Time to leave Shamouti Island.
Back in Kanto, I go to Route 8. I defeat all the trainers there, but there are no wild Mons to catch.
I already caught a Mon in Route 7, but there is another are before Celadon City, Celadon Outskirts. Unfortunately, despite having grass, there are no Mons there, only this house:
And I can,t even enter inside. Just like Violet Outskirts, I don,t understand the point of this area.
Before going to Celadon City I visit the Underground Path (the open one) and find the Explosion TM there.
Entering into Celadon City isn,t as easy as expected:
Its time to do some robbery:
First Lefties of the game. Gaseosa gets to keep them.
I finally enter into Celadon City. I get the Curse TM right away at the Celadon Condominium (name of the building changed in this game).
In a house I find Eusine. For me he didn,t give anything useful, but for those yet to see the Legendary Dogs, he shows their Pokedex entries, in order to find them.
There are 2 Departmens Store in this game:
The right building is just for decoration items, which you can see displayed:
^Lol, fuck off, I am not getting ruined.
In the other Department Store I buy useful TMs: Safeguard, Bulk Up, Calm Mind, Sword Dance, Sunny Day, Rain Dance, Sandstorm and Hail.
There is also a Counter tutor:
Back at the street, there is another useless tutor:
I check the available Mons at the Casino, and...
I can buy a second Eevee! Well, when I get the money. I spend all my money, and get the Eevee:
For now Eeveetin stays out, but legal Eeveelutions are Flareon, Leafeon and Glaceon.
There are still 3 TMs to buy at the Celadon Casino, but I don,t have the money for them yet.
I visit a restaurant, and find a familiar face:
She is participating at the eatathon contest, but wants a battle for a break:
Maylene leads with Hitmontop. Both Gaseosa and JuanPalomo are unfortunately damaged from previous battles, but Gaseosa still burns the Hitmontop before taking Close Combat.
Gaseosa uses Pain Split and takes another CC.
Gaseosa uses Thunderbolt and takes another CC.
Gaseosa finishes Hitmontop:
Next is more dangerous, an Electivire. I send Anisoptero, who avoids Thunder.
Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn and Eeveeto takes Giga Impact.
Electivire barely lives Moonblast.
I send Huesitos into Giga Impact.
Anisoptero enters and avoids another Thunder.
Anisoptero finishes Electivire with Dragon Pulse:
Next is Magmortar. Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn but is burned by Flame Body. Huesitos avoids Fire Blast.
Huesitos avoids another Fire Blast and uses Flame Charge.
Huesitos kills Magmortar with Earthquake:
Maylene sends Hitmonlee. One Flare Blitz is enough for him:
Same happens with Hitmonchan:
Machamp lives, but since Mayelene has level up moves, it uses Dynamic Punch, unable to damage Huesitos.
Next Flare Blitz finishes the battle:
Extremely easy battle. So easy, Mayele doesn,t even give any reward.
Finishing the chapter here.
