Congratulations!also as a mathematics degree holder (as of yesterday, a masters), it's actually a CS degree needed
Where the fuck is Amsterdamwill be extending DL 12 hours due to an IRL factor, it's now 10 pm amsterdam time today
does this take into account Smogon Town read accuracyI did a bit more math early this morning:
Our odds improve if the goods holder eliminates their top 4 scum reads and randomizes among the rest.
hal's math doesn't take into account humanity at alldoes this take into account Smogon Town read accuracy
Yesdoes this take into account Smogon Town read accuracy
All right, listen here:sounds like you shouldve run a simulation first
a lot of people should have ran simulationssounds like you shouldve run a simulation first
How do you account for the accuracy of people’s scum reads?I did a bit more math early this morning:
Our odds improve if the goods holder eliminates their top 4 scum reads and randomizes among the rest.
Surely we could run some simulations to find out mathematically how smogtown can improve their read accuracyIf the first 4 scumreads are town (0% read accuracy), eliminating 4 people and making the rand 4/10 instead of 4/14 must be worse
We could assign a percentage for Smogon read accuracy and calculate optimal play from there, but we might also have to take into account standard deviation if Smogon Town is worse than normal (in which case randing could be better than trying to play optimally and performing below expectations)
^ thoughts from a guy who took high school stats
of course he has he isn't even DbD right now he's the goddamn batmanThe one thing I’ve been thinking a lot about is how I feel like DBD’s been kind of out of character
I haven’t done the math but intuitively I think it must be the case that you choose whatever group of people you have reasonable confidence in are scum, and then randomize outside of thatLet me see.
I’m realizing that some combination of reads and randomization is probably best
I’m very hungover
