Electric, Dragon, and Fighting could be used as great Defensive types

Fighting types especially. Fighting only has 2 weaknesses, Flying and Psychic, and neither are overly used as offensive attacks, Psychic especially. Meanwhile, they also have the ever so helpful resistance against Rock, as well as Bug and Dark to a slightly lesser degree. 'course "Fighting" has an offensive connotation to it, and is a great attacking type so I guess that's why Fighting hasn't really been utilized as a Defensive type yet.

The Dragon type also only 2 weaknesses. Now, while Ice may be a common attacking type, Dragons (sans Kingdra and the Uber Dragons) are only taken down by them so EASILY due to the fact that they have a 4x weakness to it. Also, not many Pokemon commonly carry Dragon attacks except other Dragons (who get STAB), as well as Heatran and Sceptile for coverage purposes (Dragon/Fire covers everything except Heatran). Not to mention they carry useful resistances against Fire, Water, Grass, and Electric. Seems as though Game Freak gave them this crutch due to the fact that offensively, they might be overly powered due to the fact that only Steel types resist Dragon attacks. So, make a Pure Dragon with pumped up Defenses and give it a base attack/Special Attack of like 60 or something.

And obviously, Electrics only have 1 weakness, and resist Electric and Flying, useful. Just stick Levitate on one and you got one that has a fantastic typing for a wall.

Yet we still need to see a Dragon, Fighting, or Electric Pokemon whose stats and movepool can be seen as devoted to being a Recovering Tank or a Wall (Dialga could count as a Tank that can Rest Talk, but he's Uber. I'm looking for a Dragon/Fighting/Electric that can be used like Slowbro or Cresselia). Who agrees with me?

Hariyama is reasonably bulky enough to be used defensively, and has a great selection of support and utility moves (Whirlwind, Knock Off, Fake Out, etc), although he lacks a recovery move besides Rest.

Hitmontop is quite bulky and a good rapid spinner. It also gets intimidate. Don't think it has much more of a movepool though.

Hitmontop does get bulk up, which helps with it's defense boost. And it gets stone Edge to cover it's Flying weakness. Most psychics are pretty frail, so Stone edge after a bulk up or do should kill them. The only exception is Gallade.

Fighting Arceus is reasonably defensive in ubers. It keeps your stall team from being ripped apart by Rayquaza, Tyranitar and Darkrai. Also makes a nice pinch switch in to Metagross and Groudon.

A Magnezone that has used Magnet Rise is incredibly annoying to take down. The hardest part is getting that Magnet Rise in.

I agree. The best way to do that, in my opinion, is switch the 'zone into something that can't do anything to him and Magnet Rise as they switch. Keep Metal Sound to chase off special walls, too.

Switch into Blissey. Ice beam does lol%.
Magnet Rise. Blissey switches or does something else.
If something else, use Metal Sound.
Proceed to use some rapage attack (Thunder).

I recomend that when you switch or U-turn to a steel type that can't roar you away, you take the time to set up a sub and use magnetrise. IIRC, He can outrun hippo and donphan with a few speed Evs, so you could rise before they EQ

I have a better idea: don't waste your time Magnet Rising against Blissey, and don't switch Magnezone into Blissey. Metal Sound it on the switch instead. Anyway, the only reason Magnezone with Magnet Rise is so sturdy is because of the Steel-type that affords it 5289982 type resistances + Toxic immunity.

Zapdos is a good Electric type defensively, but mostly because it couples well with Flying. Same goes Rotom kinda (though he cheats with Levitate and his stats suck). Raikou is average defensively on the whole.

Dragons resist Grass/Water/Fire/Electric which are basic types, but nothing else. And of course since everyone and their mom is paranoid about them Dragons they don't function that well in the face of Ice Beam and actual existant Dragon attacks.

Generalizing "these types make nice defensive Pokemon" is not a good idea because either you'll turn yourself into a make-up-your-own-Pokemon factory or you just end up pointing at Pokemon that have long ago been hailed as good defensive Pokemon. Rest/Sleep Talk Heracross and Hariyama, anyone?

I run 203 Speed on my Magnet Rising Magnezone so I can Magnet Rise before an un-agilitied Metagross can EQ me. Very fun to use.

<3 Rest-Talk Hera. Machamp, too!

There is a bulky Mence set on the Serebii POTW as well. maybe that could work quite well. I might test it out on shoddy actually...

I would definitely recommend checking out Serebii's POTW regularly, their ideas are always new and innovative.

I'm actually in the process of writing up a very detailed Bulkymence document. Got all the EV's 'n' junk but some weird calcs are taking time.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or serious.

I used Light Screen Zapdos in Advance, that was pretty fun. Other than Zapdos, Magnezone, and Raikou, I don't see much going for them defensively. Once Raikou gets a sub up it's a given that you HAVE to send Blissey in to deal with it. Raikou rips through much of the current metagame.

I like using Machamp. I believe investing Defense EVs into it is silly especially when it can switch into Forry and Dynamicpunch it when its trying to spike. Then proceed to Bulk Up and people will realize they can't even produce a 2HKO with Gengar without Specs/Psychic/Orb/Belt and even then one Bulk Up should allow you to OHKO with Stone Edge. Forry will usually try to Spike again once Machamp has confused it until they realize that they are giving it a free set up and then try to explode, to only realize that Machamp's Defense has doubled or more.

If played properly Machamp will take down half a team alone. yeah, its pretty crazy. Max HP, a lot of SDef and then the rest into Atk.

Dragonite has overall the best defenses for a Dragon wall, I always wanted to try that but I never had the time to. Also, I noticed that Hitmonlee has a great Special Defense, Hitmonchan has a great Defense but they both have crappy HP. And IMO, the only useful Electric walls are Zapdos, Raikou, Lanturn and Magnezone but I'm pretty sure we've all seen defensive versions of all of those.

Oh yes, that Impish Jolteon set on their POTD was very innovative, so was the special vire set they ripped off of Smogon except with a crappy EV spread.

I agree, but GameFreak has not made such pokemon. In fact, the closest to a Dragon that walls is Altaria, followed by Dragonite. The closest to electric wall is Zapdos, and the closest to fighting tank are the hitmons, and Hariyama.
GameFreak saddens me a lot, sometimes... Well, if 5th gen comes, we might expect tanks fronm these typings.

If you take everything into account, the best defensive Dragon is Giratina, followed up by Dialga and Latias

If there were a levitating Fighting, it would resist Bug, Dark, Rock and Ground. Give it some great defensive stats and it would wall Hera and Tyranitar. That would be insane. O.o

They could have made that Staraptor but Staraptor doesn't really have great defensive stats.
