  • CM Musharna is a useful teammate, as it beats all the Pokemon that trouble Electabuzz, except Dragon Tail Lickilicky, and Electabuzz beats Musharnas counters (Mandibuzz, sorta Skuntank, etc.). It can also Baton Pass the Calm Mind boosts to Electabuzz and attempt a sweep
  • Wish support from the likes of Lickilicky, Audino and Alomomola is appreciated, since Electabuzz has a lack of recovery itself
  • Hidden Power Grass is an option to replace HP Ice, as it hits threats like Seismitoad, but HP Ice gives the invaluable BoltBeam combo.

  • It can go physical with decent moves available like Wild Charge, Cross Chop, the elemental punches, and even Dual Chop

  • Substitute is a useful move to use on a predicted switch, and helps with scouting purposes
  • Light Screen to make the team able to take special hits better, but can't hold Light Clay with Eviolite
  • Some cool support moves in Thunder Wave and Rain Dance, which can also be used in conjunction with Thunder
  • SubPunch is another option for Electabuzz as an option to nail Lickilicky, Regice and Audino hard, as well as being the only SubPuncher in NU
[CHECKS AND COUNTERS]
  • Almost any Ground move will do a decent chunk, if not KO (Piloswine, Seismitoad, Golem, Golurk). They also stop it from spamming Volt Switch/Thunderbolt
  • Camerupt is possibly the best Electabuzz counter, able to take any hit easily and kill back with Earthquake/Earth Power
  • Specially bulky Pokemon like Regice and Lickilicky handle it well, able to take hits with ease
  • Gurdurr can take any hit, Drain Punch to recover HP, and can use Mach Punch to finish it off at low health
  • Strong STABs will do a lot, since Electabuzz isn't particularly bulky (Samurott, Eelektross, Sawk, Tauros)
  • Once paralysed, it becomes very slow and unable to do its job very efficiently
  • Priority can finish it off once it gets low on health, which isn't hard to achieve considering its lack of recovery (Skuntank, Kangaskhan, Zangoose, Swellow)
  • Opposing pure Electric Types such as Ampharos and Raichu can check it, resisting Thunderbolt and able to hit back hard with their own Focus Blast

[Overview]
<p>Electabuzz faces a lot of competition from other fast Electric-types, such as Zebstrika and Electrode. Although both are faster, Electabuzz is more powerful, allowing it to hit harder while still gaining momentum with Volt Switch. Its superior coverage, most notably Focus Blast, gives Electabuzz an easier time against many of its threats. VoltTurn and offensive teams are where it feels at home. Unfortunately, Electabuzz is vulnerable to all entry hazards and has no reliable recovery, allowing it to be easily worn down. It also struggles to break through prominent special walls such as Lickilicky and Regice, while Ground-types can easily switch in on predicted Electric-type attacks. Despite its drawbacks, Electabuzz is great at gaining momentum and revenge killing.</p>

<p>In a metagame with prominent Water- and Flying-types, you need a Pokemon that can effectively deal with them, and Electabuzz is a great choice for this role. With a solid base 105 Speed and decent bulk, Electabuzz can switch into an attack from Braviary, Samurott, or Alomomola, and proceed to outspeed and dent them with a Thunderbolt. Electabuzz does particularly well against SubBU Braviary. It is a great choice if one is looking to add momentum to their team due to its nice stats and coverage moves. Eviolite makes Electabuzz rather bulky so it can take some hits while hitting back hard. Thunderbolt and Hidden Power Ice give it the powerful BoltBeam combo, which is only resisted by Piloswine and Rotom-F. Focus Blast takes care of both Pokemon while dealing super effective damage to special walls such as Lickilicky. This set is also a great counter to Jynx. It is immune to Lovely Kiss thanks to Vital Spirit and can take any hit from Jynx, then proceed to outspeed and deal a ton of damage.</p>

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

<p>Choice Band Sawk and Golurk make great teammates as both knock down many of the special walls that give Electabuzz trouble. Golurk is also useful in stopping the opposition from utilizing Volt Switches of their own. Another useful Pokemon to pair with Electabuzz is Musharna. Electabuzz is able to deal with Pokemon that give Musharna trouble, such as Skuntank and Mandibuzz, while Volt Switch gives Musharna momentum to set up. Musharna can also Baton Pass its Calm Mind boosts to Electabuzz, opening up the possibility for a sweep. Wish support is appreciated from Pokemon such as Alomomola, Audino, and Lickilicky due to Electabuzz's vulnerability to entry hazards and lack of recovery. Hidden Power Grass can be used to deal with Seimitoad easier, but Hidden Power Ice hits Grass-types that otherwise wall Electabuzz.</p>

<p>Giving Electabuzz a Choice Scarf enables it to outspeed almost the whole tier. It therefore outspeeds some of NU's most dangerous threats, such as Charizard, Choice Scarf Jynx and Adamant Choice Scarf Tauros, Primeape, and Swellow. With a super fast Volt Switch, Electabuzz can gain momentum for your team very easily. Unfortunately, the lack of recovery and vulnerability to entry hazards is even more prominent in this set due to the lack of bulk without Eviolite. Regardless, this set hits every Pokemon in the tier, bar Shedinja, for neutral damage and is excellent for revenge killing.</p>

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

<p>This set works well with many of the same Pokemon from the previous set. Wallbreakers such as Sawk can easily deal with threatening defensive Pokemon such as Regice and Lickilicky. Pokemon that deal with Ground-types are useful to Electabuzz, as the removal of Ground-types allows Electabuzz to more easily gain momentum and eases prediction. Again, Musharna is an excellent partner for the same reasons. Wish support is highly appreciated because of Electabuzz's vulnerability to entry hazards and lack of recovery. It is more necessary with this set, however, as Electabuzz will be doing a lot more switching. A Timid nature is recommended over Modest, as it ensures that Electabuzz outspeeds Jolly Choice Scarf Primeape, Timid Choice Scarf Jynx, and Adamant Choice Scarf Tauros. Modest can be used if none of these Pokemon threaten your team and you feel you need the extra power. Like the previous set, Hidden Power Grass can replace Hidden Power Ice, but the latter has better overall coverage.</p>

[Other Options]

<p>Electabuzz has access to a few interesting coverage options that help deal with some troublesome Pokemon. One of the more prominent of the coverage moves is Signal Beam. This move hits all the threatening Psychic-types in the tier, such as Musharna, Jynx, and Gardevoir, for super effective damage. Another option for a moveslot is Psychic. Psychic helps Electabuzz with Fighting-types like Sawk, Primeape, and Gurdurr while also dealing with Muk, which otherwise checks Electabuzz fairly efficiently. Charge Beam can be used in conjunction with Subsitute for an interesting boosting set. Substitute in general is a useful move to use on Electabuzz, as using it on a switch eases prediction and enables Electabuzz to freely hit whatever your opponent brings. Focus Punch can also be used with Substitute as Electabuzz is the only Electric-type with access to the move in NU. A full-on physical set is an option that could be utilized, with moves such as Wild Charge, Cross Chop, and Dual Chop, but Electabuzz's low base Attack stat leaves much to be desired. Life Orb is a seemingly good choice for an item, as it boosts Electabuzz's power considerably, but Eviolite and Choice Scarf are generally more useful. Toxic can be useful as it cripples opposing walls such as Regice and Lickilicky. Electabuzz can take special hits better by using Light Screen, which can also be used to up the Special Defense of your teammates, giving them an easier time setting up, but this is a job best left to other Pokemon. Another cool support move is Thunder Wave, which opens up a potential sweep from another one of your Pokemon. Rain Dance is a useful support move, but it has the disadvantage of losing Eviolite if it wants to use Damp Rock. Rain Dance also has the benefit of giving Electabuzz a 100% accurate Thunder.</p>

[Checks and Counters]

<p>Almost any decently powerful Ground-type move will do quite a bit to Electabuzz, if not OHKO it. Ground-types such as Piloswine or Golurk are immune to Electabuzz's STAB and can hit hard with Earthquake. These same Ground-types prevent it from using Volt Switch and force the Electabuzz user to predict better. Possibly the best Electabuzz counter is Camerupt. It can take any hit Electabuzz has to offer, hitting back hard with its Ground-type STAB or setting up Stealth Rock. Any specially bulky Pokemon, such as Roselia, Lickilicky, and Regice, do well against Electabuzz. Roselia, Lickilicky, and Regice are all good examples. Gurdurr can take a hit and retaliate with a Drain Punch, recovering most of the damage dealt. Mach Punch can be used to finish off Electabuzz when it's at low health. Any strong STAB moves will do a good chunk of damage, as Electabuzz isn't particularly bulky, especially when it's holding Choice Scarf in favor of Eviolite. Sawk, Tauros, and Kangaskhan can do a lot of damage with their powerful STAB attacks. Paralyzing Electabuzz cripples it severely, hindering its great Speed. It isn't hard to wear Electabuzz down either due to its lack of recovery, so once its health is low enough, any decently strong priority move can finish it off with ease. Opposing pure Electric-types such as Eelektross and Ampharos can cause trouble for Electabuzz, as they can take any hit and hit back hard with Flamethrower or Focus Blast, respectively.</p>

I agree with JoshuaMunoz. Scarf isn't outclassed because it has more power than Zebstraika, no SR weakness like Rotom-Fan, and it outspeeds all base 95 scarfers which is nice. It deserves a set.
 
I argued for it to be it's own set, but multiple people argued against it, so I reverted to just putting it in AC (Treecko, ebeast, CherubAgent, Raseri)

some of those people might be wrong idr tbh and there are some ive forgotten too

  • Remove the mention of Psychic and add in Hidden Power instead. Psychic isn't even on any of the sets.
  • Merge the points of no reliable recovery with the point about being vulnerable to hazards, since that is the main reason you'd want recovery.
  • For that last point, also add in the Buzz has trouble dealing with certain Ground-types that are quite common in the tier.
Eviolite

  • Don't forget to put a space between the set and Set Comments.
  • Mention that it is a decent check to Jynx thanks to Vital Spirit and Eviolite letting it take any one hit.
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
  • Remove the point about Focus Blast hitting Audino, Lickilicky, and Regice since it doesn't really make sense putting it there (also it still fails to 2HKO Lickilicky and Regice WITH Rocks on the field, while Audino can live a hit and Thunder Wave).
  • You need more teammates. Wallbreakers include CB Sawk and CB Golurk, the former breaking the special walls very reliably, while the latter does that AND stops opposing Electric-types from spamming Volt Switch.
  • Wish support can come from Lickilicky, Audino, and Alomomola, with the former two also providing Heal Bell support, and the latter providing a switch in to most Ground-types.
Choice Scarf

  • When you mention Tauros, I would say Adamant Scarf Tauros at least once to prevent possible misunderstandings.
  • The last point can be removed and merged with the first Volt Switch point.
{ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
  • Teammates that can remove Ground-types and other Electric immunities are practically required imo since you can't safely lock yourself into Volt Switch/Tbolt otherwise. Seismitoad and Piloswine are both good options for this role.
  • What teammates were you thinking of to take out Rose and Licki? I assume stuff like Sawk, Braviary, and Scolipede?
  • Remove the point about Focus Blast. It can go in Set Comments if you really have to mention it (which you don't).
  • The point about HP Grass should be saying that HP Grass can hit Seismitoad hardest, but that HP Ice provides better coverage. BoltBeam coverage is nice, but for a Scarfer, getting locked into a unSTABed Hidden Power isn't all that great.
[OTHER OPTIONS]
  • Life Orb needs a mention for giving Electabuzz some much needed power.
  • Toxic can be mentioned to somewhat cripple bulky Pokemon.

Hidden Power Ice not Hidden Power [Ice]

I also had a lot of success before with a Musharna + Ebuzz core. Ebuzz's best counters all lost to CM musharna (except dtail licki i guess). While lots of mush counters lose to buzz (mandibuzz, skuntank kinda) so add Mush as a partner to both sets

put substitute in oo so you can get a free sub as they switch allowing you to be able to pick a move as well as scouting purposes etc
add specs to oo
when you mention mush as a partner, mention that mush can also use cm pass to pass boosts to electabuzz which it can use pretty effectively due to its good bulk speed and coverage
im pretty sure you dont need to mention what evs do when its obvious such as max max so take those mentions out in both sets
you could also mention a subpunch set when talking about physical in oo because nailing licky + regice harder as well as being the only subpuncher electric-type in nu (i think?)

i don't like how this is worded. it implies that you have to use electabuzz, which is very far from true. just say electabuzz does decent (not very well, besides ludicolo/seis arent close to getting ohko'd and swellow outspeeds non scarf) vs water- and flying-types. give special mention to subbu braviary, as eviolite electabuzz is one of the best counters to that.

A useful option that can be used over HP Ice is HP Grass, which enables it to deal with Seismitoad far easier. HP Ice, however, has better coverage overall and is generally a more useful move.

what does hp ice hit? you should mention some specific things, because as of now from your description, it seems like hp grass is the better choice because it hits seismitoad hard...

It isn't hard to wear Electabuzz down either due to its lack of recovery, so once its health is low enough, (RC) any decently strong priority move can finish it off with ease. Opposing pure Electric-types such as Eelektross and Ampharos can cause trouble for Electabuzz, as they can take any hit and hit back hard with Flamethrower or Focus Blast respectively.</p>

Although both are faster, Electabuzz is more powerful, allowing it to hit harder while still gaining momentum with Volt Switch. With a solid base 105 Speed and decent bulk, Electabuzz can switch into an attack from Braviary, Samurott, or Alomomola, and proceed to outspeed and dent them with a Thunderbolt. Electabuzz does particularly well against Substitute + Bulk Up Braviary. It is a great choice if one is looking to add momentum to their team due to its nice stats and coverage moves. Eviolite makes Electabuzz rather bulky so it can take some hits while hitting back hard. Thunderbolt and Hidden Power Ice give it the powerful BoltBeam combo, which is only resisted by Piloswine and Rotom-F. Focus Blast takes care of both Pokemon while dealing super effective damage to special walls such as Lickilicky. This set is also a great counter to Jynx. It is immune to Lovely Kiss thanks to Vital Spirit and can take any hit from Jynx, then proceed to outspeed and deal a ton of damage.</p>

<p>Choice Band Sawk and Golurk make great teammates as both knock down many of the special walls that give Electabuzz trouble. Golurk is also useful in stopping the opposition from spamming Volt Switches of their own. Another useful Pokemon to pair with Electabuzz is Musharna. Electabuzz is able to deal with Pokemon that give Musharna trouble, such as Skuntank or and Mandibuzz, while Volt Switch gives Musharna momentum to set up. Musharna can also Baton Pass its Calm Mind boosts to Electabuzz, opening up the possibility for a sweep. Wish support is appreciated from Pokemon like Alomomola, Audino, or Lickilicky due to Electabuzz's vulnerability to entry hazards and lack of recovery. Hidden Power Grass can be used to deal with Seimitoad easier, but Hidden Power Ice hits Grass-Ttypes that otherwise wall Electabuzz.</p>

This is due , due to the lack of bulk without Eviolite. Regardless, this set hits every Pokemon in the tier, bar Shedinja, for neutral damage and is excellent for revenge killing.</p>

Again, Musharna is an excellent partner for the same reasons. Wish support is highly appreciated,(RC) because of Electabuzz's vulnerability to entry hazards and lack of recovery. It is more necessary with this set, however, as Electabuzz will be doing a lot more switching. A Timid nature is recommended over Modest, as it ensures that Electabuzz outspeeds Jolly Choice Scarf Primeape, Timid Choice Scarf Jynx, and Adamant Choice Scarf Tauros. Modest can be used if none of these Pokemon threaten your team and you feel you need the extra power. Like the previous set, Hidden Power Grass can replace Hidden Power Ice, but the latter has better overall coverage.</p>

This move hits all the threatening Psychic-types in the tier, such as Musharna, Jynx,(AC) and Gardevoir, for super effective damage. Another option for a moveslot is Psychic. Psychic helps Electabuzz with Fighting-Ttypes like Sawk, Primeape, and Gurdurr while also dealing with Muk, which otherwise checks Electabuzz fairly efficiently. Charge Beam can be used in conjunction with Substitute for an interesting boosting set. Substitute in general is a useful move to use on Electabuzz. Using , as using it on a switch eases prediction and enables you to freely hit whatever your opponent brings. Focus Punch can also be used with Substitute as Electabuzz is the only Electric-type with access to the move in NU. A full-(add hyphen)on physical set is an option that could be utilized, with moves such as Wild Charge, Cross Chop, and Dual Chop, but Electabuzz's low base Attack stat leaves much to be desired. Life Orb is a seemingly good choice for an item, as it boosts Electabuzz's power considerably, but Eviolite and Choice Scarf are generally more useful. Toxic can be useful as it cripples opposing walls such as Regice and Lickilicky. Electabuzz can take special hits better by using Light Screen, which can also be used to up the Special Defense of your teammates, giving them an easier time setting up, but this is a job best left to other Pokemon. Another cool support move is Thunder Wave, which opens up a potential sweep from another one of your Pokemon. Rain Dance is a useful support move, but it has the disadvantage of losing Eviolite if it wants to use Damp Rock. Rain Dance also has the benefit of giving Electabuzz a 100% accurate Thunder.</p>
