Back in Generation VI, Eevee was hailed as bottom tier in the Little Cup metagame, with abysmal stats. Now, Eevee is recognized as a legitimate threat, especially in Battle Spot, where the teams are way more limited. Thanks to Eevium Z, Eevee has a lot more viability as a Pokemon in a legitimate competitive setting. This team was tested for quite a while, and I do believe it needs improvements.
Tapu Lele @ Focus Sash
Ability: Psychic Surge
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Taunt
- Psychic
Tapu Lele's primary focus is to not only set up Dual Screens, but deny Priority moves in general. Pokemon such as Mega Scizor, Kartana, and Mega Lucario cannot setup with Swords Dance thanks to Taunt, and Tapu Lele can then set up with the appropriate screens. Focus Sash allows her to survive what are supposed to be OHKO moves for it, such as Mega Gengar's Sludge Wave and/or Sludge Bomb. If Tapu Lele were to get Taunted, then she can at least retaliate with a Psychic, which deals amazing damage with max EVs in Special Attack, Psychic Terrain, and STAB.
Now, Tapu Lele does have downsides. For one, an opponent can shut it down if it were Dark Type and had Taunt. Another problem is the other Tapus outside of Tapu Koko. While Tapu Lele can counter Tapu Koko's Electric Surge due to having less speed in general, Tapu Bulu and Tapu Fini have greater ability priority against it due to their speed being lower.
Eevee @ Eevium Z
Ability: Adaptability
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Baton Pass
- Take Down
- Toxic
- Last Resort
Eevee. Most know what this thing does already, but for those that need an introduction, Eevee needs to maximize its Speed so that it can actually use Extreme Evoboost. Thankfully, Tapu Lele would set up a Screen for it to set up and switch into one of the four next Pokemon. Maxed HP to increase survivability. Now, if Eevee were Taunted, it would at least have one option to attack: Take Down. Thanks to Adaptability, Eevee's Take Down deals 2x more damage than it would otherwise. If it were Taunted, it would also likely have Evoboosted before the taunt, and it would hurt the enemy immensely.
Eevee has some obvious drawbacks, but that's really natural for its role as a boosting pivot. Roar or Whirlwind users such as Hippowdon and Garchomp could switch Eevee into Tapu Lele or any of the other 4 Pokemon without any stat boosts whatsoever. On top of this, it is very fragile to Mega Lucario, who often one-shots it with Close Combat once Reflect is down.
Krookodile @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Moxie
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Power Trip
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Dragon Tail
Krookodile is the primary switch in if Tapu Lele or Eevee couldn't be countered by the opposing team. With Krookodile's sky-high Attack, it doesn't need a Choice Band, but rather, a Choice Scarf, since it more than likely would instantly one-shot everything with an Evoboosted Power Trip anyways. Even Aegislash's King's Shield wouldn't lower its Attack enough to actually stop it. If anything, it would make matters worse as it can't protect itself the next turn. If it is switched out of Eevee forcefully, it could still fend for itself. Stone Edge is a high-power Rock-Type move that can counter Pokemon like Charizard and Celesteela, Earthquake for STAB, and Dragon Tail to make sure that no Pokemon ever touches Krookodile. Moxie raises its Attack in case any Pokemon actually lowers Krookodile's stats by using a Stat Lowering move like King's Shield.
Krookodile's drawbacks emerge in the form of Rimbombee or Pheromosa. If either one of those Pokemon are able to set up a Quiver Dance or get Evoboosted themselves, it's likely that Krookodile would meet its untimely demise. Also, Mimikyu would one-shot it with Play Rough even without an Attack Boost.
Kartana @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Smart Strike
- Sacred Sword
- Psycho Cut
In all essence, Kartana is the "if all else goes wrong, use this one" Pokemon. Thanks to its high Attack and Speed, Kartana can afford to switch into the Garchomp or Hippowdon foolish enough to force it into play, or the Tapu Fini or Toxapex that thought it would be better to use Haze instead of running away. Leaf Blade and Smart Strike are for STAB, with Smart Strike also having the added bonus of not missing ever, alongside being a great Mimikyu counter. Sacred Sword is used to deal with threats like Mega Lucario or Mega Scizor, while Psycho Cut is used to deal with Poison-types or Fighting-Types. Leftovers allows it to heal back some HP if it ever got hurt, and the 4 SpD is to at least afford it SOME survivability against Special Attacks.
Kartana's main drawbacks are... Pretty much any Pokemon able to use Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Focus Blast, or Aura Sphere. Due to its abysmal Special Defence, it cannot afford to lose against these common threats. It also does not have a check against Mega Salamence outside of Smart Strike or Psycho Cut.
Gengar (M) @ Gengarite
Ability: Cursed Body
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Focus Blast
- Sludge Wave
- Shadow Ball
- Giga Drain
Gengar is, quite simply, the Special Attacking version of Kartana. Sludge Wave and Shadow Ball are amazing STAB moves for it, with Giga Drain turning Ground Types that want to use Earthquake against it into mush, and Focus Blast so that Gengar can actually counter Steel Types such as Mega Lucario. As it Mega Evolves, Gengar gets a massive boost in its Special Attack and Speed, thus allowing it to go even further than Kartana can do without getting kills.
Gengar's main counter is Mimikyu, as thanks to Shadow Sneak, it could lower Gengar's HP enough to 2HKO it, and Gengar must always 2HKO Mimikyu thanks to Disguise, either due to Shadow Ball or Sludge Wave. Gengar isn't likely to kill Mimikyu first, so Mimikyu often wins. It also doesn't do well against Stalling Pokemon like Tapu Bulu (Substitute, Leech Seed, Protect)
Tapu Fini @ King's Rock
Ability: Misty Surge
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump
- Whirlpool
- Taunt
Tapu Fini is the Stalling Pokemon of this set. It also makes for a great Stallbreaker against Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu or Celesteela thanks to Taunt and Ice Beam. Whirlpool traps enemies, thus not allowing them to switch, Hydro Pump for some nice STAB. Tapu Fini also holds the King's Rock so that some of its attacks can Flinch the opposing Pokemon, like Salamence.
Tapu Fini seems to have trouble against Steel Types, particularly Magnezone. It has no way to counter Magnezone's resistance to its Hydro Pump. Also, Celesteela pretty much one-shots it in any circumstance where it isn't Frozen or Flinching.
