Dusknoir to the rescue

I have been building a new team recently, and I need a special wall. Of course Blissey is always the best choice but I'm sick of her. Anyway, I like Dusknoir a lot, so after checking the sets on the site I just wanted to ask a few follow up questions.

1st: Will the lack of HP hurt me enough to be unable to take special hits?

2nd: Is it worth using a second status moves, such as confuse ray, and if not should I stick shadow sneak over Fire Punch or is Hera/Weavile that much of a threat that they need the extra move?

3rd: Could I place Ice Punch over thunder punch? Is the coverage with Thunder Punch better than that of Ice Punch?

Thank you for your time in advance.

I will just save yourself the trouble and let you know first hand that as a Careful nature Dusknoir with Max SpDef/Max HP user, it is not reliable at walling Special Attacks. It is more or less a nice bonus that he can take them better than most Pokemon, but not to the point where you can rely on him against something threatening, much like you could with say, Regice or Blissey.

Damn, Damn, Damn you gamefreaks. They are proably at home have sex with Blissey right now, as that is the only way she has stayed so good at her job for 3 GENS!!!!

Actually, it's a possibility that it could get better in future gens provided it gets decent moves.

It already gets a better decent moveset as it is. Its gotta the good recovery move, the autodamage move, the annoyer moves. Its a damn good wall.

Well, if you really wanted it to be a special wall, you could use a calm mind Dusknoir.

It learns a very nice type combo in Focus Blast/Shadow Ball, which nothing resists at this point, and it can use pain split for recovery. Calm Mind will be boosting their strength as well as boosting up his special walling ability. Focus Blast can get any dark types trying to come in and do something such as pursuit/crunch/dark pulse, and shadow ball will destroy the ghosts that come in.

Then if there's something you can't destroy, pain split it to lower its HP and recover yours (most of the time), then attack them and finish them off.

Granted, Dusknoir will never be as good at special walling as Blissey is, but the calm mind variation of Dusknoir is the closest you'll get to it being a special wall.

That's what I think.

Thing is, though, it's slow as dirt, so it's already taking 2 hits before it can CM once. Dusknoir doesn't have the defenses to be a straight-out wall IMO, it's better off as a tank/supporter.

Alternate special wall options include:

Empoleon (not a reliable all-around special wall but still useful, plus it counters Specsmence decently)

Slowking (can counter Specsmence and has Slack Off to heal the damage taken, though it's weaknesses hurt it)

Cradily (only use it in SS, it works decently enough there)

Clefable (haven't tried using one as a special wall so I can't say anything for it)

Snorlax (lacks reliable recovery but still works decently)

Togekiss (never used one as a special wall myself, so I can't vouch for it)

The Regis (personally, I don't like any of them as they lack reliable recovery and have several weaknesses, but you could try it)

Bronzong (very useful resistances but lacks reliable recovery)

Cresselia (amazing defensive stats and a passable recovery move)

I tried a walling clefable on shoddy and it worked pretty well so I'm going with that over dusknoir. Magic Guard is the best ability.
