Rotom-W@Chesto Berry
Ability: Levitate
EV's: 252HP, 252spd, 4def
Calm nature
-Volt Switch
-Will'o Wisp
-Hydropump
-Rest
This is my defensive pivot. Also he has good type coverage against pokemon such as Mamoswine, which can hurt my poor Dragonite so... Thinking about leading with this guy, as he can Volt swtich out of an unfavorable matchup. Still unable to decide whether to lead with this guy or....
Tyranitar@Smooth Rock
Ability: Sand Stream
EV's: 252hp, 244def, 12spd
Nature: Relaxed
-Stealth Rock
-Stone Edge
-Crunch
-Fire Blast
This guy is my wall and a setup for my defensive spinner and another type checker, Sand Rush Excadrill. I kinda want to use this guy first to get stealth rock out early, but it locks me into sending out Excadrill next or else face my pokemon taking sand in the face.
Excadrill@Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EV's: 252atk, 252spd, 4def
Nature: Adamant
-Earthquake
-Rock Slide
-Metal Claw
-Rapid Spin
My rapid spinner with a little bit of bite. Entry removal is helpful mid-game to set up for my sweepers, especially since spikes breaks Dragonite's Multiscale. Excadrill has the advantage of taking care of any fairy types as well.
Clefable@Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EV's: 252HP, 160Def, 96Spd
Nature: Calm
-Calm Mind
-Moonblast
-Wish
-Flamethrower
As pointed out below, my team doesn't really benefit much from the calm mind/baton pass option that Sylveon sets up. So, enter Clefable. She's my check for Greninja along with Rotom-W, hits harder with Moonblast, and provides a better check against fighting types. The 2 things that made me shudder before this was Greninja or a fighting type with Stone Edge to knock down my flyers. This fixes both issues and provides wish support for Dragonite, which can fix broken Multiscale in some situations.
Charizard@Charizardite(Y)
Ability: Blaze
EV's: 252 Sp atk, 252 Spd, 4 def
Nature: Timid
-Fire Blast
-Solar Beam
-Focus Blast
-Roost
Lategame sweeper with a longevity boost from Roost. If he can get a baton past from a Calm Mind boosted Sylveon He might even clean. Moveset gives him well-rounded coverage. Solarbeam with MegaY ability is beastly against potential water switch-ins if Rotom-W happens to be KO'd.
Dragonite@Lum Berry
Ability: Multiscale
EV's: 252 atk, 252 spd, 4 def
Nature: Adamant
-Outrage
-Extreme Speed
-Fire Punch
-Dragon Dance
Dragon Dance sets Dragonite up for the sweep/clean while, unless there's an icetype out there that was missed by Charizard, it tanks a move with Multiscale. Dragon Dance boosted Outrage will smack a b**** for lots with the added benefit of Lum Berry for removal of residual confusion.
And there it is. Dragonite is my fav pokemon, so every game I try to make a decent team around him. This team has stealth rock, entry hazard removal, and some typechecking done for Dragonite with Excadrill, Rotom-W, and Charizard-Y. My main concern is still Fighting types with Stone Edge coverage... which can effectively counter much of my team, hence the reason for considering Pixilated Hyper Beam on Sylveon. Advice much aprec.
