Firstly i didn't really make this team. Its based on mishimono's team in this video:
and i used the info from that in conjunction with the smogon site to form this team. So ill try my best to explain for each mon does, but i might not always be right ofc.
Essentially does anyone have any advice on how i can make this team better, ideally keeping empoleon as its my favourite mon to use.
Azelf @ Choice Band
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Explosion
- U-turn
- Zen Headbutt
- Ice Punch
Azelf lead that outspeeds most other leads. Most of the time I use explosion and then switch to Heatran to set up rocks, unless u-turn, zen headbutt or ice punch will one-two hit KO. U-turn is a good option to switch out to another mon. Azelf if I don't explode turn one is always a good switch into later as it outspeeds most other pokemons and can explode.
Heatran @ Custap Berry
Ability: Flash Fire
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Lava Plume
- Explosion
- Earth Power
Heatran is the stealth rock setter of the team. Usually used after Azelf Lead. Lava Plume and Earth Power as damaging moves. Custap Berry to explode or use any other move prior to another pokemon. Custap is not normally expected from opposing players.
Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 3 Atk / 30 SpA
- Hydro Pump
- Calm Mind
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Ice Beam
Suicune provides good coverage both offensively and defensively. Can be a good Calm Mind sweeper Late Game. Electric Hidden Power
means its a good switch in to other water types, to tank a hit and then dish it out.
Flygon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Thunder Punch
Flygon is a very good pokemon, as it can outspeed pretty much every other pokemon. Outrage and EQ for STAB. U-turn to switch out and
Thunder Punch for more coverage.
Gengar @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 84 HP / 172 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
Gengar is good to block rapid spinners, however it annoyingly doesnt outspeed most starmies. Will-O-Wisp and taunt are good supportive
moves and Shadow ball does good damage along with Focus Blast. Also a good switch in when the opposition is likely to use EQ
Empoleon @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Torrent
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 44 HP / 252 SpA / 212 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Agility
- Hydro Pump
- Substitute
- Ice Beam
My favourite pokemon to use. Uses agility to raise its speed and it can sub down to activate Petaya and then essentially sweep most teams late game unless it misses Hydro Pump. Ice Beam is useful for coverage, and its 100% accurate and has more pp than Hydro Pump
