Kinolau Koko
Type: Electric/Fighting
Ability: Levitate
Stats: 70/85/115/95/130/75
New Moves: Aura Sphere, Work Up
Removed Moves: Nature's Madness

Lore: A brave rooster wandered into the Ruins of Conflict, and, having passed the challenge "life is tested" at the ruins, it was possessed by the Tapu spirit to take on the Koko form.

Competitive: Bulky set up with Roost. Interesting defensive typing, which is where its stats favor. Resists Electric, Steel, Rock, Dark and Bug, which is interesting. Weak to Fairy and Psychic, which isn't terrible. Definitely a weird spread to work with, but it does have some potential due to boosting.

New signature move:

Lore: A bull, lost in the Haina Desert, stumbled into the Ruins of Abundance. As life grows in the Ruins of Abundance, the Tapu spirit granted the bull the power of fire, as life requires heat to sustain itself (and because Fini has taken water!).

Competitive: It would love if Heavy Duty Boots existed in this mod, because it's a solid pivot with them due to Regenerator. Resists to Fairy, Grass, Steel and Electric is... okay. But it's only weak to Poison, Flying and Rock, which isn't terrible.

Kinolau Fini
Type: Water/Ghost

Stats: 70/130/85/95/75/115
New Moves: Spirit Shackle, Swords Dance
Removed Moves: Nature's Madness

Lore: A swordfish swam into the Ruins of Hope. However, as this is where all life meets its end, this is where it died. However, the Tapu sprit revived it as a spectre.

Competitive: Probably more useful than Barraskewda if it existed in this gen due to being able to switch in. Ridiculous stat spread for an offensive mon, especially with a strong typing like Ghost. Trace helps it get more opportunities to switch in.

and this slate is :kartana:Metagame discussion!:kartana:
feel free to discuss your thoughts on the current metagame and to discuss bans! This ends in 96 hours, and after we will have a fakemon slate for the first island.

First of all i just want to talk about how insanely strong Kartana is right now. It's main problem normally is it's poor speed. The problem is that this meta is rather slow.

List of Pokemon that outspeed it and can OHKO it (given by BitBitio on Discord):
Raichu, alakazam, gengar, crobat, ribombee, the lycanrocs, jolteon, espeon, tauros, talonflame, salazzle, weavile, tapu koko, froslass, thundigeist, and alolatales
(Snoxin can but it has to be max SpA Choice Specs which isn't viable at all).

Defensive counters:
Alolan muk, crobat, mandibuzz, forsnaken, toxapex, salamence, bewear, buzzwole, type null, skarmory, kommo-o, dragonite, celesteela

I think we can all see the problem. If you don't have one of the mons from the second list, it can come and make a KO, and even those are chipped down'by it. The first list looks good, but most of them aren't that viable in OU.

The problem is that it has almost no viable offensive checks, and most of it's defensive counters take really high damage from it (except Buzzwole).

I personnally would strongly want it to be banned.

This is a good discussion to have, but we haven't even finished making the rest of the new Pokemon, so why are we banning already? We'll just need to keep in mind that we need something for the suspect stuff.

Well our battles have proven that some pokemons have a huge impact on the way we play and build teams. You have to run a checks to Kartana and Magearna, in order to not get swept. Bans aren't even confirmed, this is just a discussion. We could create mons that checks them, but we have to endure Kartana and Magearna until they get added. We can always unban them, but I think for now, that banning broken mons, that we haven't created, should be taken into account.

TL;DR Kartana is really good and banworthy, but after thinking for a bit, it isn't really that strong as we originally thought. It's definetely S tier and I wouldn't be suprised if it was banned.
I actually do believe it is "that strong". It lacks (a lot of) counterplay, and the tier is not stable enough or (yet) to be able to afford the negative effect Kartana has on the tier, as we already have less counterplay for many viable Pokemon.

(This is a repost since I added a lot of stuff)
Let's talk about the Metagame. Be prepared because it's going to be a long one.

Banworthy Pokémons
:sm/magearna: :sm/kartana:

Kartana: The Drawn Sword Pokémon
Our little Papercut here was the discussion in the discord server and while playing with others, it proved, that it is one of the best mons to use. The mod only allows Alola Dex mons, this means that Kartana has the second highest attacking stat of any Pokémon. First place is Mega-Heracross (with 185) and third place is Mega-Garchomp (with 170) and those two are Megas and aren't as viable as other Megas.
Some checks were mentioned and they good checks, but they can't do much in return. It isn't slow either. 109 Spe is really good and yes there are faster mons, but the fact that it outruns many strong and fast mons is insane.
There are some downside of Kart though: Low Bulk and a bad offensive typing. The former doesn't allow it too take repeated physical hit and almost no special hits, while the ladder gives it a bit of a 4MSS. Scarf and Band don't have a huge problem with this, since they can use 2 STABs, Knock Off and Sacred Sword, but the SD set that is the most broken, needs SD but also Giga Impact with Normalium Z to achieve the damage output it need in order to OHKO or 2HKO some of its checks. I think the perfect coverage is Sacred Sword and Knock Off, but then it lacks STAB damage, but otherwise it's walled more easily.
TL;DR Kartana is really good and banworthy, but after thinking for a bit, it isn't really that strong as we originally thought. It's definetely S tier and I wouldn't be suprised if it was banned.

Magearna: The Artificial Pokémon
I personally think that Magearna is stronger than Kartana. With the Alola Dex it lost many of its checks. Heatran, Lando-I, Excadrill, Mega-Charizard (both), Jirachi, Mega-Swampert, and a few more. Those mons are pretty good at checking it, but they also sometimes struggled against Magearna. I mean we all know Magearna: Great Coverage, probably the best typing in the game, Really good stats, that result in very good bulk ans SpA and also the boosting options. The item also isn't a problem: AV, Specs, Scarf, Weakness Policy, Leftovers and Life Orb. Honestly do what you want, Magearna makes it work. The only thing that it doesn't have is reliable recovery. Draining Kiss is only a thing in Gen 8 and Pain Split isn't reliable. Out of this two, I'd say ban Mag first. I might be the only one, since I think I was the only person, who used Mag, but yeah you get the point.
TL;DR Magearna is possibly more broken than Kartana. It is versatile and strong and a consistant checks is AV Magearna. It's too early to tell yet, but again, wouldn't suprise me if it gets banned.

DLCmons Creations

The DLCmons Ultra-Beasts
I love the UBs we created. Everyone is fun to use, although I hate Snoxin, but in a good way. I didn't have experience with Komodond, but I think that it isn't as potent as the others, but I'd say that it is still an A tier Pokémon. All of them are really fun! There isn't much to say here.

The Kinolau form of Tapu Koko
My Koko won the votes and it is absolutely broken. When nerfing Koko the first time, I didn't notice that most of its checks aren't in the game. I thought that Mega-Scizor and Mega-Manectric could wall it easily, but it doesn't. We couldn't play with them, since they weren't implimented, but the calcs speak for themselves. Brave Bird is getting removed. It loses it's most powerful STAB and has to use Acrobatics now, which restrics it's item selection. I'll do another post about the Kinolau forms, once I had some battles.

Lastly I want to help a few with teambuilding, so I will provide some sets and roles here.

I designed Plubia to be as versatile as possible and as you can see, it indeed is!
Here you go: https://pokepast.es/8145876c57fdc269 (Hematite gets credit for the last set)
Also, here's a statement from the DLCmons owner kakaks

Snoxin is annoying, but this speaks of how good it is. Here are some sets made by Magmajudis.
https://pokepast.es/60acd0eb12717069
(Side note: The screen set should be run with Light Clay)

I've made some sets for the other UBs as well, although I haven't played with them much, so there's definetely room for air.
https://pokepast.es/4eac6e4d9d71ee20
Here are sets for Kinolau-Koko and Kinolau-Fini, they are really fun to use!
https://pokepast.es/e29b01f4f151a3c3
(Side note: You can replace Rooster Call with Wild Charge, if you want a higher damage output. I prefer Rooster Call, since it can absorb sleep and it has no recoil)

Here are some sets for Lele and Bulu. I don't now how they were meant to play, but after running some cals and playing some games, I got some kind of an idea, how you could play them.
https://pokepast.es/54ace3ea2e219d81
Here you have some mons who can help out while building your team.

Here are some checks for the Tapus. Koko, Fini and Bulu seem really strong and Lele seems a bit unbreakable, but here are some good checks to them that you can viably use.

Hey there! Nice to see you here!
I was really excited to see the evolutions of Firmlio, but I have to say that Coyotalloy is way too strong. It has resemblence to Lycanrock-Dusk, but there a few points that make it better than Lycanroc and probably too strong for the meta.
  1. Better Attack: 8 more Attack doesn't seem like much, but in a game of inches like Pokémon this could be problematic.
  2. Better Typing: Steel and Fighting is a really good type and with the limited dex who lost a number of Fighting, Fire and Ground types who could check them.
  3. Better Offensive Potential: This mon has Stab CC and a stronger Steel-type Flare Blitz, which is also Stab. On top of that, they both get the Tough Claws boost.
  4. Other Factors: Great Coverage in Zen Headbutt, Drill Run, Knock Off, Play Rough and many more + Priority in Sucker Punch and Bullet Punch and SD.
Maybe you could nerf it's signature move and give it any other ability than Tough Claws or remove it. I think Sheer Force is good on it.

Thank you for the feedback! How about 120 BP instead of 130 BP for Wild Claw, and Intimidate or Reckless replacing Tough Claws?
I just calculated Wild Claw on this Pokemon (With Tough Claws) and the power's base power was 254. I can see why you called this broken!

!Announcement Time!

Alright people, we are extending this slate until Wednesday 1 PM EST. We want more submissions in order to do a proper voting slate.
After this slate we are going to a balancing + testing slate, so we definetly need more submissions.

We are happy of the submissions you created and we are excited for what comes next from you!
Have a nice day!

Trying to cover a gap in the 'mon selection. Here's a psuedo.

Name: Chindle
Type: Flying
Abilities: Guts | Reckless
Stats: 65 HP / 80 Atk / 35 Def / 20 SpA / 20 SpD / 80 Spe [300 BST]
Sun Dex: Chindle is a small bird that lives near volcanos. It is not a strong flyer, but it dreams of one day reaching the top of a volcano.
Moon Dex: Chindle is believed to be a distant cousin of Pikipek who adapted to a warmer habitat.

Name: Chaldera
Type: Flying/Fire
Abilities: Guts | Reckless
Stats: 85 HP / 95 Atk / 55 Def / 40 SpA / 40 SpD / 105 Spe [420 BST]
Sun Dex: Chaldera flies around the top of volcanos. It preys on Salandit.
Moon Dex: Flying over Alola's volcanos, Chaldera enjoys the warm heat to keep it airborne.

Name: Flarenix [Flare + Phoenix]
Type: Flying/Fire
Abilities: Magic Guard | Regenerator
Stats: 100 HP / 95 Atk / 90 Def / 110 SpA / 110 SpD / 95 Spe [600 BST]
Notable Moves: Roost, Air Slash, Hurricane, Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Will-o-Wisp, Parting Shot, U-Turn, Earth Power, Aurora Beam, Shock Wave, Flare Blitz, Brave Bird, Focus Blast, Dragon Pulse, Dazzling Gleam, Solarbeam, Energy Ball, Agility, Calm Mind, Nasty Plot, Dragon Dance, Aura Sphere, Wish, Flaming Descent*
Sun Dex: Flarenix live in volcanos. An aging Flarenix can return to its birth volcano to become young again. Some say it is like a dragon.
Moon Dex: Flarenix feathers are a prized item for travelers, but Flarenix can regrow them so it is never in danger of hunting.

*Flaming Descent. 100 BP. 100 Acc. 10 BP. Physical. The user, with wings alight, tackles the foe. The user lands for this turn, becoming grounded.

Competitive: We needed something for Kartana and Magearna due to a lack of Fire-types, and this one fits the bill and manages to cover both. Kartana's best coverage move here is Psycho Cut, while Magearna is forced to run Thunderbolt if it wants to hurt it. Magic Guard also gives it an immunity to Stealth Rock, while also fitting with the theme. Magearna's Thunderbolt can also be played around with Flaming Descent, making it only neutrally effective. Its middling speed tier can also be played around with here, as it can avoid faster EQs. While versatile due to its wide movepool and many set up options, it's held in check by its average stats.

!Voting Time!
Alright people, Submissions are closed. There can be three winners, since there aren't many subs unfortunaly. Nevertheless here are some things to keep in mind while voting.
  1. One self-vote is allowed
  2. The higher you rank a mon, the more points it gets
  3. ... and that's it
Voting closes in 72 hours. Here are the submissions you can vote on. Remember an evolutionary family counts as one Pokémon.

Pls vote
I want to avoid a double post
