Introduction:
This is a team I created with the intentions to use in the triple battle section of the battle spot. This is my second competitive team. My first was a hail team so I decided to try another weather team. It takes some setting up for the most part, but once everything is ready it can hold up pretty well against other opponents. Here it goes.
My Team
Tyranitar@ Smooth Rock
Ability: Sand Stream
HP: 248, Def: 80, SpDef: 180
Relaxed nature
Curse
Stone Edge
Rest
Sleep Talk
Cursetar is my lead. I throw him out to the left side to avoid taking too much damage while I try to set up at least two curses before having to rest if need be. With the boosted special defense from the sand storm and added defense boost from curse he can take a hit pretty well. And with rest and sleep talk he can stay in the battle for a long time. Since I wanted him to stay on the slower side to be able to get the sandstorm going I didn't invest any ev's into speed. Thus making curse a perfect choice for her.
Blissey@ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
HP: 252, Def: 252, SpDef: 4
Bold nature
Toxic
Seismic Toss
Soft-Boiled
Protect
As everyone already know Blissey is the best wall in the game. I don't throw her out right away because I like to switch her in after I do something with another pokemon on my team first. Having toxic on her is a bonus on helping me wear away at walls on the opposing team. And she helps by stalling the battle as long as possible so I can take advantage of the sandstorm and other effects that I have set up.
Ferrothorn@ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
HP: 252, Atk: 172, Def: 84
Brave nature
Leech Seed
Stealth Rock
Gyro Ball
Power Whip
I throw him out first all the way to the right. I like to try to get out leech seed on two opposing pokemon and a stealth rock if I can so I can switch Blissey in and give her more health support. I don't always switch him out in case there is a bulky water type, because that is one weakness in my team. So he has many purposes from hurting physical attackers to setting up entry hazards. (Tho I know entry hazards aren't as important in triple battles, but they still help.)
Starmie@ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
SpAtk: 252, SpDef: 4, Spd 252
Timid nature
Scald
Psyshock
Thunderbolt
Recover
I wanted my team to be fairly balanced so Stamie made for one of my 3 sweepers. Also with recover I can try to hold onto a strong special sweeper for a little bit longer. I also like it's move set with scald and thunderbolt to be able to inflict status condition that help wear down walls or slow down sweepers.
Lucario@ Lucarionite
Ability: Inner Focus
Atk: 252, Def: 4, Spd: 252
Adamant nature
Swords Dance
Close Combat
Bullet Punch
Iron Tail
Lucario is a great sweeper for this team for the fact that he doesn't take damage from the sandstorm. I don't always get to set up his swords dance, but that is why I save him for later in the battle to see who I am up against first. With fairy type being a threat he comes in handy. Also I wanted a mega on my team and I felt like he was the perfect one.
Magnezone@ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
SpAtk: 252, Def: 4, Spd: 252
Timid nature
Volt Switch
Hidden Power(fire)
Flash Cannon
Thunderbolt
I like to throw out Magnezone right away in the middle to be able to volt switch him out and throw in who ever I see fitting for the circumstance. I don't always volt switch if I see other steel types out there. That way I can hidden power fire them and weaken them. Also if there is a beefy grass type I can blast them with a flash cannon. Magnezone also plays into the balance of my team being the only other special attacker.
Conclusion:
I do my best to get all my pokemon set up with the right stat boost and healing moves first. Then I try to stall out with walls and tanks as long as possible, pulling out a sweeper early on only if I absolutely have to. For the most part I try to save my sweepers for later in the game. I rather try to wear opponents down while setting up cursetar if I can. Thank you for your time and for reading. All advice is appreciated. Have a beautiful day! :)
