Garchomp @ Garchompite
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Stone Edge

Taking advantage of Sand to activate its Sand Force, Mega Garchomp easily OHKOs both members of the core and can proceed to use it after the two are gone. It outspeeds the Tyranitar while handily living Excadrill's Earthquake and is able to spam its own Earthquake. If Excadrill is Air Balloon, it only has a small chance to 2HKO Mega Garchomp with Earthquake while Fire Blast has a large chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock.

METAL BIRD

skarmory.gif

Skarmory @ Leftovers/Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Spikes/Defog
- Iron Head/Brave Bird
- Whirlwind/Taunt

Both exca&t-tar cant touch this mon. Excadrill murders itself with LO recoil in attempt to attack Skarm. T-Tar cant do anything either( fish for a freeze?). Skarmory sets up Spike in their face/PP stall them/Kill them with repeated weak attacks/Whirlwind them.

252+ Atk Life Orb Excadrill Rock Slide vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 69-82 (20.6 - 24.5%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Life Orb Excadrill Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 55-65 (16.4 - 19.4%) -- possible 7HKO after Leftovers recovery
Excadrill Earthquake vs. Skarmory: 0-0 (0 - 0%) -- aim for the horn next time

0 SpA Tyranitar Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Skarmory: 83-98 (24.8 - 29.3%) -- guaranteed 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Tyranitar Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 79-94 (23.6 - 28.1%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Tyranitar Pursuit vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 33-39 (9.8 - 11.6%) -- possibly the worst move ever

gyarados-mega.gif

Gyarados-Mega @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Waterfall
- Crunch
- Substitute / Ice Fang / Earthquake
- Dragon Dance

Mega Gyarados resists Tyranitar's STAB Crunch and can easily set up on it, and is also a solid check to Excadrill as it resists / is immune to both of its STAB moves before Mega Evolving which is further helped by Intimidate. Gyarados needs to watch out for Rock Slide before mega evolving, but thats really it apart from the occasional brazilian ttar.
Waterfall and EQ both OHKO Excadrill unboosted, as mega Gyarados doesnt outspeed Excadrill in the sand at +1. Mega Gyarados is one of the many reasons that you see Keldeo on almost all sand teams.

slowbro-mega.gif

Slowbro-Mega @ Slowbronite
Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 176 SpD
Bold Nature
-Scald
-Iron Defense
-Calm Mind
-Slack Off

Can set up an Iron Defense without any problem. After that, every attack does barely anything and Bro can either set up CMs or use Scald until they are KOed.

Reserving Chesnaught cause everyone is using mainstream threats.

chesnaught.gif

Chesnaught @ Leftovers
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Leech Seed
- Drain Punch
- Spikes
- Spiky Shield

Thanks to fantastic typing, extremely high Defensive stats on the Physical side, and an amazing move in Spiky Shield, Chesnaught is a huge threat to this core. Tyranitar fails to do significant damage with Ice Beam, and is easily 2HKO'd by a STAB Drain Punch. Meanwhile, Excadrill's Iron Head comes nowhere near 2HKO'ing while it gets worn down by Spiky Shield, while Drain Punch can also 2HKO it.

alakazam-mega.gif

Alakazam @ Alakazite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Encore / Taunt

Trolls Excadrill by Tracing Sand Rush and can Focus Blast both members to oblivion. Psychic is chosen to hit Mega Venusaur and Landorus-T harder. Encore allows Alakazam to annoy Bisharp and Ferrothorn while Taunt allows Mega Alakazam to beat blobs.

The Evolution of Phione
490.gif

Manaphy @ Leftovers
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 248 HP / 108 Def / 136 SpA / 16 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tail Glow
- Scald/Surf
- Rain Dance/Hidden Power [Fire]
- Ice Beam/Energy Ball/Psychic

Wasn't this obvious? Manaphy can be threat against this core, as it can setup a Tail Glow being able to sweep or setup Rain stopping the momentum of the core with Excadrill. Manaphy is used more of a Non-Switch In, rather than a Guaranteed Switch In, as it would be best to let it have close to full HP. Its EV set is to give it bulk while still being a strong Special Attacker.

rotom-wash.gif

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

Standard physically defensive rotom wash takes very little from Rock Slide and can Wisp/Hydro Drill. It can do the same to Ttar while also taking very little damage. Also can pain split back up against both mons in case something unfortunate was to occur

Hey sorry man but someone already did Skarmory. Feel free to do something else just make sure someone else hasn't already done it!

Char-Y can't be used when discussing partners but it can be used when discussing threats:
006.png

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid / Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost

Charizard-Y can switch in against every move of the core bar the rock coverage and beat both Excadrill and Tyranitar. of the team with Fire Blast and Focus Blast respectively. Char-Y will always survive a Iron Head from Excadrill even after Stealth Rock damage. Because of Drought, Charizard will be able to outspeed Excadrill the next turn and ohko it with Fire Blast. Tyranitar is also ohko'd by one of Charizards moves when sun is up (when sand is up, Tyranitar can survive one Timid Focus Blast but it will lose against Modest or when sun is up)

conkeldurr.png

Conkeldurr @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 128 HP / 252 Atk / 128 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Ice Punch
- Thunder Punch

Conkeldurr is a threat to the core because it can easily come in on any move from Tyranitar and then proceed to OHKO it with Drain Punch and Conkeldurr can take any attack from Excadrill and OHKO it with Drain Punch or with Mach Punch after 2 rounds of LO damage.

252+ Atk Life Orb Excadrill Earthquake vs. 128 HP / 0 Def Conkeldurr: 251-296 (65.5 - 77.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Excadrill Iron Head vs. 128 HP / 0 Def Conkeldurr: 200-238 (52.2 - 62.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Excadrill Rock Slide vs. 128 HP / 0 Def Conkeldurr: 62-74 (16.1 - 19.3%) -- possible 6HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Excadrill Rapid Spin vs. 128 HP / 0 Def Conkeldurr: 35-42 (9.1 - 10.9%) -- possibly the worst move ever

0 Atk Tyranitar Pursuit vs. 128 HP / 0 Def Conkeldurr: 29-35 (7.5 - 9.1%) -- possible 7HKO after sandstorm damage
0 Atk Tyranitar Stone Edge vs. 128 HP / 0 Def Conkeldurr: 72-85 (18.7 - 22.1%) -- 51.2% chance to 4HKO after sandstorm damage
0 SpA Tyranitar Ice Beam vs. 128 HP / 0 SpD Conkeldurr: 88-104 (22.9 - 27.1%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after sandstorm damage

252+ Atk Life Orb Conkeldurr Drain Punch vs. 248 HP / 32+ Def Tyranitar: 608-717 (150.8 - 177.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Conkeldurr Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Excadrill: 554-655 (153.4 - 181.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Conkeldurr Mach Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Excadrill: 299-354 (82.8 - 98%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

cobalion.gif

Cobalion @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 140 HP / 112 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Iron Head
- Volt Switch / Magnet Rise
- Stealth Rock

Was just going to submit standard Lefties Cobalion but this set is sorta legit and 1v1s Exca too so why not. Switches into both members of the core and OHKOs them, not much more to say.

112 Atk Cobalion Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 32+ Def Tyranitar: 436-516 (108.1 - 128%) -- guaranteed OHKO
0 SpA Tyranitar Ice Beam vs. 140 HP / 0 SpD Cobalion: 40-48 (11.1 - 13.4%) -- possible 8HKO (lol)

112 Atk Cobalion Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Excadrill: 402-474 (111.3 - 131.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Excadrill Earthquake vs. 140 HP / 0 Def Shuca Berry Cobalion: 192-227 (53.6 - 63.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

645-therian.gif

is a lion (Landorus-Therian) @ Soft Sand
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock

Huge threat to this core, as Earthquake OHKOes both Excadrill and Tyranitar. Due to Intimidate Landorus-T can switch into Excadrill quite freely, avoid the 2HKO from Iron Head, and OHKO with Earthquake, and same with Tyranitar, however Earthquake only OHKOes after Stealth Rock, as without it it's only a 70% chance. Ice Beam Tyranitar (if applicable) is annoying but don't Landorus-T into that o_o

Another Threat to this core is CRAWDAUNT, the forgotten threat.

Crawdaunt @ Life Orb
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Crabhammer
- Knock Off
- Aqua Jet

Crabhammer outspeeds and one shots Tyranitar:
252 Atk Life Orb Adaptability Crawdaunt Crabhammer vs. 252 HP / 36+ Def Tyranitar: 437-515 (108.1 - 127.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

While Aqua Jet Does enough to completely cripple LO Excadrill if not OHKO it:
252 Atk Life Orb Adaptability Crawdaunt Aqua Jet vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Excadrill: 322-385 (89.1 - 106.6%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO

450.gif

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Slack Off
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge / Toxic / Whirlwind

God Hippowdon switches in against any move from both both Excadrill and Tyranitar and wins, assuming no hax or prior damage, and heals back up with Slack Off.

0 SpA Tyranitar Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 112 SpD Hippowdon: 142-168 (33.8 - 40%) -- 29.7% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Life Orb Excadrill Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 144+ Def Hippowdon: 168-199 (40 - 47.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

keldeo-resolute.gif

Keldeo-Resolute @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Scald
- Secret Sword
- Icy Wind

This monster is a threat in the metagame specially against sand, u can go either way on the set for this ponny, all sets beats this core; Scarf, Calm mind, specs,LO etc. and driller only can revenge it with a roll after sand and rocks.

reserving hawlucha :]
701.gif
@ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 4 Def / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly / Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- High Jump Kick
- Acrobatics

Hawlucha is one of the most threatening mons to this core. Able to boost its already murderous HJK with swords dance and gain an unburden boost with a sitrus berry (thus outspeeding exca) proves to be too much for this core, OHKOing both with HJK.

Dugtrio @ Focus Sash
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 21 HP / 0 Def / 0 SpD
- Earthquake
- Reversal
- Stealth Rocks
- Sucker Punch

(no sprite on phone lol)

Dugtrio with a sash and hazard removal can come in and eliminate excadrill and can also kill a weakened TTar (EQ does around 60%) which will stop excadrill from getting the boost. Pretty shaky check to exca as it wont be stopping exca with balloon and it has to risk being flinched from the iron head to kill it.

landorus-therian.gif

Landorus-Therian @ Earth Plate
Ability: Intimidate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 24 HP / 252 Atk / 232 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance
- Rock Polish

After Rock Polish can easily beat Scarf Tar and Excadrill, 232 Spe is for reach 276 and outspeed max speed Excadrill.
If Excadrill have Air Balloon isn't a problem because i have the time for use Stone Edge and after, EQ.

252+ Atk Excadrill Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 24 Def Landorus-T: 157-186 (49.2 - 58.3%) -- 97.7% chance to 2HKO

If Excadrill is Life Orb I can statupping on it, because Iron Head can't do OHKO also if the SR are in the field.

252+ Atk Life Orb Excadrill Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 24 Def Landorus-T: 204-242 (63.9 - 75.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

And I haven't calc the Intimidate drop, so :)

-Just realised keldeo was already done. Sorry.
keldeo.gif

Keldeo @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Secret Sword

Pretty much keldeo set beats this core by clicking secret sword so long as it gets a free switch; Keldeo lives EQ from adamant life orb excadrill and KO's with secret sword. It also out speeds and obviously decimates TTar with secret sword.

252+ Atk Life Orb Excadrill Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Keldeo: 263-309 (81.4 - 95.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

ofc keldeo can't switch in to excadrill, but that holds true with many of these cores. Also, leftovers because with rocks + sandstorm damage, its only a 12.5% chance for EQ to OHKO.

A side note that any set can be used just as effectively so long as rocks are off the field, but lefties is needed to reduce the chance of being OHKO'd by EQ with rocks.

May as well submit something that hasn't been done:
heracross-mega.gif

Heracross @ Heracronite
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Pin Missile
- Rock Blast
- Swords Dance / Substitute

Eats up an iron head surprisingly well (252+ Atk Life Orb Excadrill Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Heracross: 169-200 (56.1 - 66.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock) and obviously destroys the core with a solid 485 attack close combat. Basically it cant switch in to excadrill, but has a really easy time taking an iron head and has a 60ish% chance to live after 3 layers of spikes + rocks + sand.

garchomp-mega.gif

Garchomp @ Garchompite
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast / Outrage
- Stone Edge

Garchomp is one of the best wallbreakers in the tier under sand. It has really solid 170/120 mixed offenses and coupled with Sand Force and SD, it completely destroys walls. It's a great partner for TTar+Excadrill as it severely weakens walls for Excadrill to sweep

Reserving based god Mustache Dog. (Stoutland.)

No Synergy? No problem.

stoutland.gif

Stoutland @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Return
- Ice Fang
- Wild Charge
- Superpower

Choice Band Stoutland is a pretty cool partner to the core because it an Excadrill beat each others checks and counters. Stoutland can 2HKO most bulky Water types with a STAB Return, can eliminate Skarmory with Wild Charge, and defeat Ferrothorn with Superpower. In return, Excadrill can dispatch Jirachi, and weaken most Steel types in order for Stoutland to clean late-game.
