Celebi [QC 4/3] [GP 0/2]

Why Zen Headbutt on the Baton Pass set? Either add a slash for the nature or replace it with Psyshock.
Celebi doesn't learn Psyshock, and even if it did its weaker than Psychic against everything not named Chansey (who BP Celebi doesn't care about in the first place)

But I did slash the nature based on whatever stat you're boosting, good catch.

Woohoo, 4 QC checks. Ganna write this up this weekend. Still taking suggestions though.

Did not know Celebi doesn't learn Psyshock and good point. I also think Giga Drain deserves a slash for Dark types. Outside of that, awesome analysis.

Ok I'm starting this writeup now, it'll be ready in a day or so. This is one of only a handful of all UU analyses in the copyediting stage right now so I'm not too worried that I missed my self-imposed weekend deadline.

I added everything up to and including this post. Still welcoming suggestions.

Despite that, it still hits them (unlike Psychic) therefore somewhat worth a mention.

You can just Baton Pass out of the Dark-type pokemon (which was the set this convo originally referred to). You're probably going to lose to them either way. Weavile and Houndoom do a lot of damage to Celebi, while you're faster than Honchkrow and Bisharp. I can't think of any other threatening Dark-types in UU off the top of my head.

Basically what I'm saying is that no move can help you enough against Dark-type counters enough to make it worth sacrificing your only attack. Psychic-type moves are pretty solid in UU and Dark-types are rare enough. I'll try to work this immunity into the writeup since it's a good point, I just don't think it's worth slashing since it doesn't have a "dark-killing" move.

Name cobalion as a team mate, reason stated in the cobalion thread

Will do.

- You can 2HKO Chansey with Psychic at +4 with Modest and Life Orb, clearing up a lot of room for other special sweepers

Unless you mean Psyshock, this seems a bit enthusiastic as Psychic will easily be stalled by a Chansey with spD and Toxic. Max/Max Bold will still be hard to beat if it runs Wish+Protect.

EDIT - I haven't been able to get to this lately due to rl issues. I haven't forgotten about it!

+4 Modest LO Psychic against 252 HP / 4 SpDef Chansey @ Eviolite: 47.4% - 56%

That's the standard Chansey according to its analysis so I used that. I already mentioned the fact that Toxic Chansey can stall out the sweeping Celebi sets in multiple places in the analysis. Most Chanseys I've seen use Thunder Wave over Toxic though so I think beating the premier special wall in the tier is worth a mention.

And for the 2nd time in this thread already, it doesn't learn Psyshock. Read the thread before posting =_=

Minor nickpick on the set comments on cobslion, it 4x resist dark as well. And add that it gets a +3 after a sd and justified.

D'oh! Thanks.

I think Hidden Power Rock should take the place of Earth Power on Tinkerbell. Earth Power hits Steel-types, which are uncommon besides registeel and empoleon. Hidden Power Rock is like Hidden Power Ice, but it hits Victini, and Rotom-H (which generally switch in to Celebi from my experience) as well as Staraptor, Crobat, etc.

Leftovers should get a mention too

But why would you use HP Rock over Psychic? Am I missing something?

Anyway, I'd like to ask for a mention of an alternative spread. Enough speed to outrun Heracross (and subsequently Psychic it) should be noted in OO, IMO. Even though Band/LO is rather uncommon, whenever you see one, it's a huge relief because it means it's pretty much dead.

irl issues and school taking longer than I thought. I haven't forgotten about this. I'll get it done in this coming week.

HP Rock has 5 more base power than Psychic does against Rotom-H/Staraptor. Earth Power hits Victini harder than HP Rock does. Psychic hits Crobat harder than HP Rock would. And you lose coverage against things like Empoleon and Bisharp too. The only thing HP Rock would be worth using for is Moltres, who is almost literally never seen (and is 2HKOd by Psychic anyways). I'll give it a mention in OO because it gets nifty super effective coverage but it's not worth adding to any of the sets.

Will add.

Shouldn't you have teammates included in AC?
yes but it's not written yet. The teammates are almost always the same anyways. I didn't feel like copying and pasting the same thing over and over again into each set. This is why I miss the Teammates section, I still can't believe we got rid of it.

The entire point of Tinkerbell is to tank hits and dish them out in return. You need almost max Speed to outpace Heracross, and at that point you might as well use the Nasty Plot set. That's why Thunder Wave is on the set. First time it comes in, paralyze it...then kill it the next time.

The good thing about HP Rock is that it hits Flying-types and Fire-types at once. Losing coverage against Steel-types is big, but Empoleon is the only common one. I guess an OO mention is cool though
