SPOILERS! Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Data Dumps

There...are. They changed some of the poses of the models to resemble the original DP sprite poses. I just mentioned Bibarel as an example in my comment.

I just want to see if Tropius was lucky enough to get such a change.
It doesn't actually use the pose ingame, it's just for the Pokedex I think. They do the same in Pokemon Home

Do you have an image of where they changed the poses, I hadn't noticed anything about Bibarel like that

The original tweets reporting this are all censored at this point but I first saw it here:

If that's the case, that's disappointing, and a whole thread of redditors/twitter followers are going to be in for a rude awakening since they were lead to believe that these were in-battle models.

"New poses finally" my ass.

Notably, you can find Munchlax underground, so unless it's rare that should make it MUCH easier to put on your team. Gabite also appears to be available late-game, much like it was in Platinum's Victory Road

It'd be nice to know if Heracross was available in a similar fashion. Barry notably used the two most coveted and rare mons you could find via Honey Trees (Heracross and Snorlax). Heracross would make a solid addition to an in game team.

I'm excited about the better trainers but you're right, it's a pretty small addition in the grand scheme of things. It would be cool if they had updated AI so they would actually switch once in a while.

They do. There was a video of the leaker's battle against final Cyrus where his Empoleon looked to have a 2HKO on Honchkrow I think, and Cyrus promptly switched in his Gyarados. The AI looks pretty smart. Only Cynthia used to switch in Platinum from my experience.

I think it's cool that they have competent movesets. That's a serious improvement.

But yeah the monotype trainers get team wiped by whatever they're weak to. Even Cynthia has to deal with game boy level AI and thus probably just gets 6-0ed by Twave lead into DD Gyarados. Or... almost any amount of planning / strategy. At the end of the day these trainers are going to have abysmal AI and still get wrecked unless you're grossly under leveled and / or are using shitmons like Pachirisu.

And aside from that you can always over-level the content, or spam healing items, and etc. If you really want a challenge, your best option is online play. Even the best AI in the world would have difficulty replicating the entire "prediction" angle of competitive battle which is why people switch in the first place.

As you said, it's a nice small addition. It's no Battle Frontier where the challenge came from the limitations set on the player, which kept things fair when facing a fairly simple AI opponent.

Yeah those iamges are both from the pokedex specifically
I would bet they dont even move? (& also furthers my thoughts that the DP sprites being added means there's a way to flip to "sprite mode" for the pokedex or something)

Heracross isn't in the underground

Technically this isn't new since Bibarel has a sitting pose from amie but it's a neat reference.

They did move. Apparently some might be used in the overworld as idle or walking animations like Monferno.

This isn't really about data but the official renders have the same poses as the DP sprites as well.

I'm curious myself about held item and pickup rates; particularly to see how easy it is to get the Electrizer, Magmarizer and Dawn Stone. Most of the time the former two have been 5% items, but in DP they were 50% so it'd be interesting to see if they were reverted back to that high rate for the remake
This seemed like a good question and I had the data for it, so here are wild held items!
Link
Small disclaimer: I did not bother translating the types directly from the game code because I uh... felt pretty confident they weren't changing any, but if there are any wrong types, those would be on my end and not the game's P:
Everything else is directly from BDSP though!

Sadly, I can confirm a 5% rate of Electirizer/Magmarizer on all three stages :c
This also got me a convenient list of catch rates, and I remembered someone asked about Dialga and Palkia - those two are still 3, surprisingly! That's going to be rough on new players, if you're back to being unable to leave Spear Pillar without catching them o.o'

While I was doing this, I also noticed three columns in the data labeled "tokusei1," "tokusei2" and "tokusei3" for every Pokémon... but I have no idea what they are, so it made me curious - does anyone know what that means? They seem to range from 0 to 130, and every single Pokémon has all three of them!
I put all of the raw numbers on that sheet, but I don't actually know if they are a numerical scale or if they're IDs for something or what XP
Oh, nice, Marty knew this and explained below!! They're just Abilities! O:

Here's the Pickup table! Dawn Stones will realistically stay fixed at 4% for most of the main story, save a very brief period of 3% from levels 11 to 20. Assuming the Ability still has a 10% activation rate, that's 0.4% or 0.3% per battle!

Both are based on data provided by Kaphotics as usual! (you can also just use the Pickup table linked in the OP, admittedly - that one is quite readable already and making a spreadsheet was deeply extraneous P: but sometimes a grid and visuals can help okay
edit: neither of these is terribly important, haha; they're just meant to answer specific questions - I do not think it would make any sense to list them in the OP or anything and I swear I'm not trying to make people save a million links P:

edit Marty: aaaa that's amazing
There's something incredible about finding the answer to a BDSP-related question based on comments in the original source code of DP :'D
I've added that to the sheet - thanks so much!!!

And oops, I should really have remembered those were Abilities since I already used the same information for the Trainer sheet, haha - whoops! Thanks for confirming that :'D I have updated the data sheet accordingly, although I guess maybe the focus should be on the minutia like catch rates and items there rather than stuff that won't have changed, so perhaps I will hide those columns XP

Badge? - This set of Pokémon becomes available after getting a certain Gym Badge. The Badge here isn't referenced by name or by number in the code, unfortunately, so I couldn't actually tell you which one it is!That said, it's probably the fifth, sixth or seventh Badge; this set of Pokémon is intended to appear fourth, after all!
According to the original DP source, a comment next to BADGE_ID_C09 says "Kissaki, Rock Climb", so it would be the seventh badge from Snowpoint.
Great work on the spreadsheets by the way!

We were writing our posts at the same time but I have an answer for this too! Tokusei is Ability, so those are slot 1, 2, and HA IDs.

Do you need waterfall for every Underground fire type not names Ponyta or am I reading the doc wrong?
Magby (Pearl only) & Houndoom are special pokemon who wanders around regardless of what else is happening.
All the other fire types in the underground aside from Ponyta are, I guess, post-game only

Well kind of funny how the fire type problem ultimately came back to roost

...So the two I'd like to use the most are the ones I can use. Hell yes.

Yup, Tropius has a good standing animation in Amie as well, so I was hoping they repurposes those into battle idle animations, but I guess not.

So if I get Brilliant Diamond, I have a choice of TWO Fire types instead of ONE if I don't pick Chimchar... They not only didn't fix Flint's Round 1 Team, but they didn't give enough Pokemon for him to make a full Fire team with Pre-NatDex Pokemon.

Between this and finding out some Underground Pokemon can run away after the NatDex, I'm starting to lean back toward the "hating and not letting them live down Flint" side.

Ouch, that's rough. Dawn Stone in particular is pretty difficult; at least Gallade and Froslass are only alternate final forms...

The sad thing is this is better than the stone trio's ever been as far as pick up is concerned
In DP, the Dawn stone didn't even enter the pool until level 51

You know they really should have just placed the evolution items around the map where tehy are in Platinum, like how they plopped the gracedia's npc down.

UNRELATED
So has literally anyone bothered talking with those new NPCs around the map that have a pokemon next to them. Like what are they doing, exactly. Are they just rando new NPCs, do they give you stickers, statues, what is happening with them.

I saw this too...which isn't looking great for the team building options for BDSP compared to Platinum, in all fairness and objectivity.
Plat does have the superior teambuilding.
Alright, folks. here's the deal. The game comes out in a week, and I have room on my Switch for the full game including the day one patch (Let's just say that deleting "Fortnite" helped a lot here and leave it at that). I still have yet to do anything like pre-order the game or decide whether or not I would want it online or on cartridge, and that's because for the first time in my history of being a Pokémon fan, I genuinely cannot decide whether or not I want to get Shining Pearl (over Brilliant Diamond for the exclusives and because my first main series game technically was Pearl in the first place). The reason I'm posting this here instead of in the generic BDSP thread is because I was hoping that these datamines would help me decide, especially when that $60 plus tax could be spent on something else. (Make that $120 if I were also to get Legends: Arceus later.) I've controversially never been much of a Battle Frontier fan to begin with, and while that may change going forward, the other changes in BDSP are so 50/50 for me that I can't decide where the line between good and bad game design is. I'm willing to excuse ILCA as a company for a lot of this, but things like an improved battle tower and Ramanas Park just aren't enough to buy me over, but things like the Underground are.

I guess what I'm asking here is what some of you think in regards to getting this game if you were to be in a situation like me where:

1. I not only have all the Gen 4 games, but even multiple copies of both Diamond and Pearl
2. I already have a game budget plan for other genres (see me in "Congregation Of The Masses" for more details)
Basically, this is DP with a REALLY good engine and a LOT of QoL.

The mon selection, bells and whistles are different between it and Plat, so they feel distinctly different.

If you plan to mod, this is THE game. Otherwise, you gotta ask yourself how much you wanna play Gen 4 again.

Ultimately, you gotta pick your priorities. What I can vouch for is that the game is excellent.
Every flaw in DP got fixed, but in a different way that Plat did.

That's on the Dex.

Dex got different, non combat-ready animations, it's especially noticeable and cool with Monferno.

New idles are dex-only from what I've seen around.

Thank god the Dawn Stone in Mt. Coronet is still available. That becomes available just after Surf, which isn't too bad, even if the one west of Pastoria would've been better. Otherwise, Gallade and Froslass would be all but unviable for an in game run as well.

Oh! I didn't know this, that's good

This is so sad tho...one of the best battle themes in the series is not present :(

Also, this was pretty helpful mapping the version exclusives to their respective counterparts:

Diamond - Pearl
Butterfree line - Beedrill line
Arbok line - Sandshrew line
Arcanine line - Ninetails line
Dewgong line - Slowpoke line
Scizor line - Pinsir
Murkrow line - Misdreavus line
Gligar line - Teddiursa line
Kecleon - Stantler
Electabuzz line - Magmar line
Tyranitar line - Salamence line
Seedot line - Lotad line
Mawile - Sableye
Zangoose - Seviper
Solrock - Lunatone
Rampardos line - Bastiodon line
Skuntank line - Purugly line
Dialga - Palkia Legendary Dogs - Legendary Birds Ho-oh - Lugia

Found it from this thread:
Looks like BD is really getting the long end here. Gliscor, Honchkrow, Tyranitar, the dogs, Solrock. I know which version I'm getting.
