Description: good question
Competitive Role: Special Wall, Defensive Pivot, Hazard Control (Rapid Spin)
Competitive Description: pretty interesting defensive typing makes it resistant to boltbeam and not too easy to hit specially (besides water and ep). immunity to burn and resistance to flying makes it a great specter check, and its another spinner because spinners suck rn besides terra. sr and weakness to aforementioned water and ground might be annoying.

Removed Moves: Roost, Dragon Dance
Flavor: Altaria but more dinosaur-like, similar to dinosaurs with long necks like the Brachiosaurus. Has a more fluffy body and legs to resemble its dex entries. It loves to relax and sleep with its trainer.
Description: Pretty bulky Ground-type with many support options for teams. Rocks and Spikes for hazards, Defog for hazard removal, and it has recovery. Heal Bell can also be used if you ever want to use a cleric on your team, but it does have decent attacking sets as well.

Description: "Recent reports have sighted an entity that appears to resemble a more powerful form of Marowak. In fact, it appears to bear a resemblance to a Marowak native to another region, however, the entity appears to have a dense layer of armor and an aggressive disposition towards those it deems impure."
Competitive Description: Defensive Fire-type with lots of utility at its disposal [Knock Off, Stealth Rock, Spikes, a powerful signature move that also discourages setup sweepers]. Can also potentially run an offensive build given its decent coverage as well.
Name: Iron Zephyr
Original Pokemon: Jumpluff
Prompt: SpDef Steel
Type:
Ability: Cleansing Fire
Stats: 75 / 55 / 75 / 105 / 125 / 135 [570 BST]
Paradox: Sky
New Moves: Defog, Flash Cannon, Gyro Ball, Heat Wave, Hurricane, Iron Head, Magnet Rise, Nasty Plot
Removed Moves: Sleep Powder
Description: The best SpDef Steel in the meta right now is Scizor. That is cringe, so here’s another option. Taking inspiration from Insurgence’s Delta Noivern because I think that mon is sick af (even though it sucks…), Iron Zephyr is a dangerous Nasty Plot sweeper in theory, though its horrible STABs would unfortunately beg to differ. Even still, breaking sets are probably quite good, especially with funny move Strength Sap (why does it get that?) to shore up its mediocre-at-best physical bulk.
Name: Glitter Claw
Original Pokemon: Sandslash

Stats: 95 / 115 / 125 / 59 / 85 / 91 [570 BST]
Paradox: Sky
New Moves: Dazzling Gleam, Play Rough, Moonblast
Removed Moves: N/A
Description: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. A more defensive take on Sandslash-Lustrous, specifically meant to patch up the defensive hole Hisuian Arcanine is cleaving through the meta. Otherwise serves as an alternate option to Gliscor as a Ground-type hazard setter/remover, even sharing its access to Knock Off, though of course one big difference is Glitter Claw’s much more appealing secondary STAB in Fairy.

Role: Defensive Fire
Type: Fire / Fairy
Ability: Cleansing Fire
Stats: 105 / 91 / 79 / 81 / 89 / 115 | 570
Paradox: Sky
New Moves: Rapidash and Rapidash-G's movepool, Spirit Break, Knock Off, Hurricane, Air Slash, Defog, Wish
Removed Moves: Toxic, Swords Dance
Description: Has Rapidash-G's appearance, but with a heated red horn, red stripes instead of blue, black skin, and wings made out of pure fire!
Competitive Description: Is a fast utility and support mon with a vast movepool with several cool options such as Defog, Knock Off, Wish, and Will-O-Wisp. Its typing gives it plenty of resistances as well. However, its middling defense and common weaknesses makes it easily susceptible to physical attackers. Its offenses are also middling, making it hard to pressure opponents.

Original Pokemon: Yanmega
Role: Dragon Type, Special Wallbreaker, Choice Abuser, HO Lead
Type: Bug / Dragon
Ability: Cleansing Fire
Stats: 97 / 77 / 105 / 131 / 65 / 95 | 570
Paradox: Sky
New Moves: Draco Meteor, Dragon Pulse, Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Spikes, Taunt, Nasty Plot
Removed Moves: None
Description: The red is replaced with blue, and the plates are replaced with sharp spikes! The overall design is more scaley, and the arms are much wider and stronger with sharp claws, making it resemble a dragon...fly.
Compeitive Description: Can serve as either a Nasty Plot wallbreaker, Choice Specs abuser, or HO Lead. There's strong benefits to each set. For once, Draco Meteor is extremely hard to switch into with 131 SpA + Nasty Plot or Choice Specs. It also has great coverage in Fire Blast. Its surprisingly good physical bulk can also make it easier to set up Nasty Plot or hazards. Its access to Spikes and Taunt make it a great lead. However, its only decent speed, vulnerability to entry hazards, and poor special bulk do limit these attributes.
Fluvial Serpent (might change idk)
Original Pokemon: Steelix
Typing:
Ability: Cleansing Fire
Stats: 111/101/89/85/111/73 (570)
Roles: Bulky Ground, SpD Water, Switch In to Rock/Fire Stab
Removed Moves: All Steel Moves, Dragon Dance
Added Moves: Aqua Cutter, Aqua Jet, Hydro Pump, Liquidation, Muddy Water, Scald, Surf, Waterfall, Wave Crash, Ice Spinner
Description: Fluvial Ophid acts as a specially bulky water/ground, which allows it to switch in in pokemons such as Arcanine-Hisui and create pressure around it with it's STABs. Cleansing Fire helps keeping the pokemon healthy from stats it's foes might throw at it. It's coverage with typings like Rock and Ice can help it with opponents that have the type advantage against it's STABs, such as Flying and Grass, giving it a big arsenal to fight back against it's opponents.
Flavor: This pokemon holds a strong resemblance to Steelix, although it's main difference is the presence of frontal and inferior limbs, although some suggest these members are basically vestigial.
Peregrine Blade
Origin: Skarmory
Type: Steel/Fighting
Ability: Cleansing Fire
Stats: HP-79 Atk-123 Def-133 SpA-71 SpD-79 Spe-85 BST-570
Movepool Changes: + Close Combat, Mach Punch, U-turn, Sacred Sword, Doom Desire, Stone Edge, Flare Blitz, -Stealth Rock, Spikes
Flavor: Skarmory’s entire body becomes a slightly darker gray with streaks of what appears to be red paint. Its head Is more pointed, it takes on a fiercer, more intimidating battle stance, and its wings gain sharp hook thingies at the ends.
Competitive Value: Steel-type, defensive pivot.
Possible wallbreaker with Swords Dance and good attack options. U-turn, Roost, and Doom Desire give it the makeup of a potent defensive pivot (I swear my next one won’t be a defensive pivot) that can fill its fourth moveslot with an attack like Close Combat or Mach Punch, or run Defog for hazard control. Makes use of an underrated defensive typing that gives the Steel-type no additional weaknesses, but rather a stacked Rock resistance and a Dark resistance.

Competitive Value: Steel-type, SpDef Flying/Steel
Dagger Fly is primarily a priority attacker that can set-up with Bulk Up to clean late game or revenge kill with a Choice Band. A Bug/Steel defensive typing gives it plenty of opportunities to switch in and fire off powerful First Impressions and Needle Volleys.

I'm kinda bad at strategy, but I saw bulky Fire-types were needed so here I go. I gave it a Ground typing for Stealth Rock neutrality, Spikes and Rapid Spin for hazard control, but I didn't give it reliable recovery (it still has access to Pain Split if you really want), and is threatened by any pokemon with water coverage.
Here is a list, without order, of what it can do:
... and eventually some damage with its 123 base attack stat, access to Bonemerang to break Sashes, and STAB Flare Blitz. Most coverage is special but it still has physical options in Knock Off, Iron Head, full power Revenge due to its low speed, Shadow Bone, Stone Edge, Thunder Punch and even Outrage once all Fairy- and Steel-types have been taken care of. I don't really have an idea of the power level of the current metagame so if it's too bulky, let me know.
- Set up Stealth Rock and Spikes
- Rapid spin away hazards on its side
- Perish Trap with Fire Spin to get rid of a threat
- Burn with Will-o-wisp
- PP Stall with Spite
- Knock Off...
It's a Cubone born of two different variants of Marowak.
While protecting it from Honchkrows both of its parents died. Ho-oh saved it and, moved by this little guy's sorrow, blessed it. Except Grieving Mestizo hates it because it constantly reminds it of sad memories and would have preferred to go with its parents on that day.
It's a Cubone without a mask, who uses both of its parents skull as weapon.

Fast Rock-type with 149 base speed and a passable 117 Attack with Rock and Fairy STAB and Ground and Poison coverage (I think Rock+Ground+Fairy is unresisted atm) ; HO lead with Sticky, SR, Rapid Spin to stop the opponent from stacking hazards, Explosion/Final Gambit to gain momentum by fainting once the job is done, can use U-Turn to come back later.Mead is a drink made from fermented honey, water and sometimes berries.
Shuckle ferments berries in its shell.
Hydromel, fermented honey and water, is said to be the drink of Gods in Greek mythology.
You get the picture.
It is said that long ago, when breweries still made all sort of alcohols with the help of Shuckles, a brewer was unparalleled. Every drink made by them and their trusty Shuckles were so exquisite that rumors about them being gifted by gods began spreading.
It wasn't long before the king heard of them and asked to visit the small town the brewery was located in.
But with success comes jealousy. And a competitor of the favorite of Gods, blinded by rage, the day before the king's arrival, poisoned all of the Shuckles.
Ho-oh, feeling the disaster coming, resurected them for their final vintage.
It is said the king liked it so much he bought all of the liquor available, and that all of the Shuckles disappeared the day after, presumably carried away by Ho-oh.
For the appearence I envisioned some random Shuckle that walks like toedscool.

Removed Moves: All Bug-type moves, all entry hazards, Toxic, Giga Drain, Swords Dance, TailwindStatus - Ghost - 5 (8) PP - 100 Accuracy - Can be reflected with Magic Coat/Bounce, can be ignored with Clear Body/Amulet
After two turns, whatever Pokemon is in the target's spot has their Defense, Special Defense, and Speed lowered by one stage.
Role: Defensive pivot, combines Parting Shot and the unique Burden Prophecy to wreak havoc on the opponents' stats and complement any frail offensive Pokemon switching in. Could work well with things like Boots, in order to mitigate its rocks weakness. Could also function as a lead, or use a Trick/Choice Scarf set to mess with opponents.
Based off of a Seraph, Beedrill's wings become both larger and more numerous, with it now having six wings. The colors are much more subdued, the bright yellow of Beedrill being replaced with a pale blue, while the black is removed altogether. The eyes are merged into one, turned pure black, and moved to the center of its head. The signature drills of the Pokemon become larger and thinner, more like swords than drills.
In a bygone age of heroes and saviors, it was once said that the sight of a pale, winged creature foretold someone carrying a great burden in the future. People have long debated whether this creature actually held any prophetic abilities, or it was simply a coincidence.

Paradox: Sky
New Moves: Draco Meteor, Dragon Breath, Dragon Claw, Rapid Spin, Twister
Removed Moves: Blizzard, Fire Blast, Focus Blast, Ice Beam, Rock Throw
Description: Beefy tank. Olden Warden's high physical bulk and typing makes it a great check to Harcanine, which currently has little in the way of defensive answers. A physically-defensive Warden set can comfortably take any hit from Harcanine and threaten an OHKO with EP in return:
252+ Atk Choice Band Arcanine-Hisui Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Rhydon: 119-141 (27.1 - 32.1%) -- 53.6% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
Warden also provides utility in rocks and Spin on top of having a strong offensive presence thanks to its high SpA and wide coverage.
Olden Warden: An Ancient Statue Come to Life?!
- The Ruins of Alph is a strange place, just one of the ruins’ many mysteries is being the supposed point of origin for Olden Warden. Named after an alike figure in the Book of Enigmas, Olden Warden bears many similarities to the statues littered around the Ruins of Alph.
- This hulking creature has been reported to patrol the lowest floors of the Ruins of Alph, although said reports are unsubstantiated. Some claim it was built by an ancient people and given life by Ho-Oh itself to guard the ruin’s chambers and defend the Unown within.
Inspired by the Rhydon statues present in gens 1-5. The design of these statues look the most accurate to Rhydon in HGSS' version of the Ruins of Alph. I decided to make this a Sky Paradox since the northwest chamber in the Ruins of Alph not only contains a Ho-Oh sliding puzzle, but also a hidden room that can only be accessed if Ho-Oh is in the party in HGSS, implying a strong connection between Ho-Oh and the ruins.

It’s high SpA and access to moves such as Knock Off, Sludge Bomb, and Haze prevent it from being passive. Static Stingers is also a great slow pivot with Volt Switch. Flavor: Mamoswine but he’s a spooky scary skeleton. It is known to relentlessly defend the graves of prehistoric creatures.
Competitive Value: Bulky Ground, Defensive pivot.
Ivory is a jack of all trades. With an excellent defensive typing and high physical bulk it can switch into many attackers and set up or clean hazards (not both, since it uses Defog). 128 attack and a powerful STAB combo makes it non-passive, especially considering movepools with stuff like Bonemerang, Shadow Sneak, and Knock Off. Moonlight gives it a powerful recovery option to keep it alive longer. Teleport is an amazing pivoting move for IH, since it’s low priority let’s him slow pivot, even with 96 speed. It’s offensive stats allow it to function as a capable wallbreaker and cleaner, or even a revenge killer with Shadow Sneak. Hollow Chant can be used alongside hazards to make Ivory a powerful phaser, and it can use the speed deduction to pick off faster threats. Offensive sets suffer from a middling speed tier and lack of set-up. Defensive sets suffer from moderate defenses and Water, Grass, Ice, and Dark weaknesses.

Flavor: Lugia employs a number of creatures as conduits of its power, spread throughout the ocean to carry out powerful storms over long distances. These creatures are always surrounded by storming winds and bolts of lightning, making them near impossible to see, but the few glimpses that have men caught show a shocking resemblance to Steelix.
Competitive Value: Steel-type, defensive pivot.
Argent Tempest uses terrifying physical bulk and resistances to Electric, Rock, Flying, and many other types, to slow-pivot with Volt Switch and gain momentum for allies. It’s abundance of useful attacking moves makes it a capable Assault Vest user, however, this is in part due to a lack of recovery. Looming Thunder provides wall breaking support for powerful attackers that struggle against bulky waters or Steel/Flying-types. Balanced by huge counterability by Ground-types, since most of its good attacks, including its pivoting move, are Electric-type (why it knows surf), as well as a stacked Ground weakness. This is bad because of all the game’s prominent Ground-types like Tripod Drill, Terracotta Idol, and Ursaluna.

"The Legend speaks of a Nidorina stranded, seemingly abandoned by her trainer on the Whirl Islands. That instead of falling to the inhabitability of the islands, she found a support, or rather, an entourage, in commanding a group of Seels, Krabbys and other habitants. Quickly she had them fetch her a Moon Stone, so she could evolve by herself, but they brought her something else, a sharp, bright yellow rock, that by touching it made her turn into a rather cetacean creature, while still featuring all the things that made Nidorina... Nidorina.
The Spikes and Scales that grew were a dark shade of blue towards the end, like a kabuto. And her commanding attitude became more centralizing, and stronger, so much so, that merely months later the whole body of water connecting Cianwood and Olivine was being obstructed by an army consisting of Tentacruels, Dewgongs, and Kinglers. Petrifies the target for 3 turns. At the end of each turn, the petrified pokemon will have their defense go up by 1 stage and their speed go down by 1 stage. A petrified pokemon cannot be switched out.
As stated earlier I don't have a clear idea of the current metagame, but with its 102 base speed Gorgeous Gorgon can outspeed some pokemon, even more so without the speedcreep of the last generations. Its typing is awful, but I thought Psychic-type fits better with the petrification concept than Fairy-type (even though the mythological inspiration could also justify a Fairy/Dragon).
Gorgeous Gorgon's signature move is a trapping move with no real drawback, as it uses more its special attack. Also contrarily to usual trapping moves that work as long as the user is on the field, this one can be switched out of and lasts for 3 turns.
I removed Shadow Sneak but I could add it back if you think this pokemon is underpowered.Gorgeous Gorgon is based on Ovid's Medusa, which shaped the idea of Medusa we currently have: beautiful young girl with snake hair.
Lorewise, I adapted Ovid's Medusa:
A long time ago, when Pokemons and Humans "ate at the same table", Humanoid Pokemons helped in the cult of Deities. Kirlias were especially common as priests and priestesses for the cult of Enamorus.
One day, Lugia, charmed by these Kirlias decided to pay them a visit. Humans and Pokemons all swayed by this unknown god decided to change the temple's deity to match the new one, which seeemed to like Kirlias so much.
Enamorus, came to the temple back weeks later. In her rage she punished all of the Infidel Kirlias with snakes as hair and a glaring look, making them unable to look at any other pokemons, humans and deities so that they stayed hers.
After that Humans forsook both Enamorus' and Lugia cults, but Lugia still welcomed the cursed Kirlias that now hated their previous idol.
As I said in the description, Psychic is for the petrification powers and Dragon for the Snakes on its head. I also added poison coverage because the snakes are said to be venomous, and Glare for obvious reasons.

Removed Moves: Quiver Dance, Rage Powder, Signal Beam, Silver Wind, Sleep Powder
Description: All of our Dragons have middling Speed (aside from Kingdra when it’s in rain), let's change that. With its typing, decent bulk, blistering Speed, access to U-Turn and reliable recovery in Roost, Looming Omen makes for an effective offensive pivot that pressures other offensive mons such as Raikou and Pistil Whip. Omen can nail Steels that would otherwise wall it with Focus Blast or Flamethrower. It can either run Boots 3 attacks with Roost for longevity or bring the pain with Specs, the latter being able to use Switcheroo to cripple walls. Omen can potentially opt for Taunt + TSpikes or try to use Defog but these are admittedly more fringe options.
Looming Omen: A Venonat of Disaster?!
- A rare sight, little is known about the being known as Looming Omen, a name derived from the Book of Enigmas. It supposedly resembles Venonat, albeit with broad feathery wings and fierce glowing eyes.
- What few reports exist of Looming Omen claim that it lurks on the border of Blackthorn City. The most infamous sighting of it was preceded by a clouded sky and many people falling unconscious for several hours. Whether the creature is truly hostile remains to be seen.

As a quick reminder, we are not treating these submissions as pairs! They will be treated as separate submissions in voting, so please keep that in mind if you plan to create any sky/sea counterparts.
A winning sub will take the roles they fill out of the role list, and the role list can always be added to for future slates in #metagame-role-suggestions on our Discord server.
Submission rules & guidelines are as follows:
- All submissions must have 570 BST - submissions that use mega Pokémon may use 590 BST, but it’s recommended that these types of submissions are made sparingly
- All sky & sea paradox submissions must use their respective custom abilities - Cleansing Fire and Corrupting Storm
- All submissions must share at least one type with their original
- All sky paradox submissions must have odd-numbered stats, while all sea paradox submissions must have even-numbered stats
- All paradoxes must be dual typed.
- Submissions must use Pokémon from HGSS’ regional dex + swarm mons & regional forms (ie. you can use Typhlosion, since it’s in HGSS’s dex, but you cannot use Corviknight)
- Movepools will be assumed to be from the original Pokémon’s movepool, unless specified
- You may submit up to 4 paradoxes, either sky or sea - you may sub 3 sky and 1 sea, 1 sea only, 2 sky and 2 sea, etc. Two submissions will then be voted in - one sky and one sea!
- Custom moves are allowed

Description: Motherfucker got a spatula instead of a leek. Also likes to go crazy on the dance floor. Tied it to Sky due to the concept of cooking implying Fire and boogieing implying there’s something positive to boogie to. Rain Dance is literally just there for another dancing move. Aside from that it’s a straightforward physically offensive bulky pivot. Essentially plays like Corviknight with a single attacking stat and an emphasis on Special Defense.
The stats on this make this way too potent of a physical breaker and offensive pivot. I would remove some of the moves you gave it (setup, Flip Turn) or heavily reduce its offenses.

Description: It’s a fuckin Slowpoke that uses a Shellder like a surfboard, skimming water and land alike. For a lead, it’s a SR setter with variable pivot options between Flip Turn and Teleport, but it also has enough bulk and the right typing to face off against a fire/rock STAB set and still be an SD Sweeper on switch-in.

Flavour: Various legends speak of a green headsman appearing before those in need, offering boons should the patron agree to give their life at the headsman's notice. Those who use the headsman's boons benevolently never end up hearing its call.
This is also too bulky for its typing, along with the extra setup potential. Unoptimize the stat spread or change the typing (gravitating away from multiples of 5 will help with flexibility).
