Moves like Hydro Pump and Focus Blast make Blastoise hard to stop once it has boosted, allowing it to beat Pokemon such as Indeedee and Ferrothorn, respectively, while Ice Beam takes care of pesky Grass- and Dragon-type Pokemon like Celebi and Dragapult. Its decent natural bulk grants it setup chances against Pokemon like Excadrill and Duraludon. White Herb negates the drops to its defenses that incur through Shell Smash and makes Blastoise hard to revenge kill with priority users like Diggersby and Bisharp, potentially giving it the chance to use Shell Smash again. Blastoise prefers teammates like Cloyster, Seismitoad, Keldeo, and Pelipper that can wallbreak and weaken shared checks for each other. Sticky Web support from Araquanid helps it outspeed faster Choice Scarf users like Gengar and Weavile while threatening the opposing team even more.

For the teammates section, try adding Pelipper to boost Blastoise’s STAB Hydro Pump.
