Pros:
- This set is a mix of support, offense, and defense- perfect for a pokemon with 100 base stats across the board.
- Hits exremely hard with Leaf Storm
- Uturn allows Celebi to scout and to escape Pursuit users
- Thunder wave cripples many of Celebi's counters, rendering them unuseful for the rest of the match, and allowing you to outspeed and uturn away
- Counters many top threats- Dragonite, Lati@s, Jirachi, Salamence, and rain teams
- The element of surprise- Celebi will always be able to nab at least one pokemon per match with Thunder wave, and all six if you play it well. The reason why Celebi surpasses Jirachi as a paralyzer is because nobody will dare switch in ground types to face Celebi, whereas ground types flee to counter and KO Jirachi.
- Not weak to its regular counters- Scizor and Tyranitar. U-turn allows it to escape pursuit, and to switch in a pokemon that can handle Scizor and Tyranitar well.
- Celebi also packs a huge punch with Leaf Storm- it's a 2HKO on Mixed Tyranitar after Stealth Rock (factoring in the -2 sp atk drop)
- Supports team mates, scouts, and attacks- fits any role
- Magnezone: Celebi's T-waves help Magnezone overcome its slow speed, and it shares typing synergy with Celebi. Magnezone in turn can take down flying types and steel types that wall Celebi. The two can even form a makeshift VoltTurn core that can and will annoy any unprepared opponent.
- Cloyster: Cloyster also benefits from Celebi's T-waves- it can pull off a shell smash before the opponent can react, and it's massive defense and great typing synergy allows it to absorb physical hits for Celebi. Cloyster's STAB icicle spear hits all of Celebi's counters for super effective damage bar Scizor and Tyranitar.
- Jellicent- can wil o wisp Scizor and Tyranitar, and also benefits from Celebi's T-wave. It's water type STABs can deal hefty damage to Ground types and Fire types that wall Celebi. It has great synergy with Celebi, and resists many types that would otherwise KO Celebi.
- Celebi is countered by it's old nemesis, Choice Scarf Terrakion. Celebi relies on status to cripple its counters and then escape with U-turn. However, Choice Scarf Terrakion outspeeds Celebi by a long shot and can KO it with X-scissor.
- With that in mind, anything that can outspeed Celebi and can hit hard counters it- Lati@s, Salamence, or Dragonite can all deal massive chunks to it with their powerful STABs.
- Revenge killers- priority users such as sucker punch Toxicroak and ice shard Mamoswine can do hefty chunks and KO a weakened Celebi.
- Ground types- Gliscor, Dugtrio, and Landorus fall into this category. They all are immune to T-wave, and can take Leaf Storms very well with their great bulk. Gliscor can KO Celebi with Ice Fang or Acrobatics, Landorus with U-turn, and Dugtrio with Sucker Punch.
