Ok, this team has a weird selection of pokemon, but I guarantee you have to be a smoothbrained fool (which seems to be all I face in ps nowadays).
Here's my thought process:
I fuckin LOVE Reuniclus. My all-time favorite setup was AV regenerator. So I started with that.
Next, I wanted something to complement its PHYSICAL weaknesses, Toxapex was an easy click
After that, I genuinely was stuck. I need something that could help out against ground types, as well as soak up some dark and bug type moves for clus, as well as electric hits for pex. So I chose a clefable (which at this point wasn't a cleric).
Then I wanted a Corvinight to help out with Clefables Steel and poison weaknesses.
Finally, I didn't want to be at a loss for a physical presence and wanted some sort of hazard control since I planned to make Corv a taunt variant. So I picked Cinderace and Cloyster.
Over time, Cinderace seemed too weak, so I opted to Excadrill, but this last spot seems to really irk me, being cinderace. I tried a multitude of things, Cinderace, Ditto, Excadrill, but nothing seemed to fit. (also idk if the sprites worked but if they did then woop woop, otherwise I hate this forum now)
Firstly, Reuniclus, the team captain:
Reuniclus @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball
- Focus Blast
Assault vest is (at least in my opinion) one of the best items to put on a regenerator mon. It gives it much higher special defense and since it has a good reliable recovery in regenerator it serves as a good line of defense. Standard Coverage moves. Shadow Ball so it can take on Clefable with ease.
Next up, Toxapex
Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Haze
- Baneful Bunker
- Recover
- Scald
This is my physical wall meant to take Reuniclus's weaknesses. Those being aegi and other attackers that threaten him out. Haze to help with things like cloyster and other setup sweepers. Recover, Scald, and Baneful Bunker for obvious reasons.
Third in the lineup, Clefable
Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Aromatherapy
- Protect
- Wish
- Moonblast
Initially, this was a life orb clefable, which is valued for its strong attacking power. But as I started to win more games I noticed that this wasn't enough to cut it. Status ran rampant throughout my team and my pokemon got weaker much faster. So, I opted for a cleric Clefable which has done WONDERS for my team. This is also my hydreigon check.
Next, Corviknight
Corviknight @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Taunt
- U-turn
- Brave Bird
- Roost
This is a special case. Normally, I'd use this as my defogger, but seeing as I put cinderace on the team I decided to make this a good check to setup sweepers. Taunt helps it with mons like Corsola-G and others that rely so much on non-attacking moves. Brave-bird for conk as always.
Second to last, Cinderace
Cinderace @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pyro Ball
- High Jump Kick
- U-turn
- Court Change
This is one of my iffy mons. I love to have hazard control, and I also love to be able to hit hard at the same time. But I find that this just doesn't cut in some situations, or in others it might do god's work (don't hate for religion). Pyro Ball and HJK are obvious choices, U-Turn over Sucker Punch to keep that LITTLE momentum going.
Finally, Cloyster
Cloyster @ King's Rock
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shell Smash
- Icicle Spear
- Ice Shard
- Rock Blast
This is a mon that I have loved since gen 6. It was in the vast majority of my teams and now that its making a comeback, I couldn't be happier. The sheer force that it gets from SpearBlast is absolutely ridiculous. I usually use cloyster off rip so as to take out as many threats as possible. King's Rock is ridiculous in its ability and having that flinch chance comes in clutch more often than not.
Thanks for reading and all feedback is appreciated.
