Arcanine @ Leftovers / Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 160 HP / 252 Atk / 96 Spe
Tera Type: Normal
Adamant Nature
- Curse
- Flare Blitz
- Extreme Speed
- Morning Sun

Arcanine has leveraged its new tool in Curse to become a top-tier Pokemon in PU! With its natural bulk bolstered by Intimidate and Curse combined with Extreme Speed ignoring the Speed drops, Arcanine can be either an effective mid-game wallbreaker or a devastating late-game cleaner. Flare Blitz synergizes well with Extreme Speed to hit Steel- and Ghost-types like Alolan Sandslash and Golurk, while Morning Sun gives it reliable recovery. Despite its Stealth Rocks weakness, Leftovers is used to let Arcanine passively outset the downsides of Flare Blitz, while Heavy-Duty Boots lets it care less about entry hazards. Tera Normal boosts Arcanine's Extreme Speed power, while the EVs let it outspeed Modest Toxtricity. Arcanine's partners can range from defensive Pokemon like Milotic and Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro, which can handle the special attackers Arcanine struggles with, like Inteleon and Kilowattrel, and appreciate Arcanine switching into Decidueye and Heracross for them, to offensive Pokemon like Paldean Tauros-W and Zoroark that can wear down shared checks like Milotic and Bellibolt, paving the way for Arcanine to clean with Extreme Speed.

Arcanine has leveraged its new tool in Curse to become a top-tier mon in Gen 9 PU! (Modifying this a bit as a creative choice and the reader would know its gen 9 because when do we ever do lower tier oldgen spotlights?) With its natural bulk bolstered by Intimidate and the Defense (and attack) boosts Curse gives it combined with Extreme Speed ignoring the Speed debuffs, Arcanine can be either an effective mid-game breaker or a devastating late-game cleaner. Flare Blitz synergizes well with Extreme Speed to hit Steel-types like Bronzong and Alolan Sandslash (Ghosts types too like Terad Tox or Golurk / Palo) , while Morning Sun gives it reliable recovery. Despite its Stealth Rocks weakness, Leftovers is used to let Arcanine passively outset the downsides of Flare Blitz, while Heavy-Duty Boots lets it care less about entry hazards. (No mention at all on tera or evs? Iirc, Normal is just used for boosted espeed and removing ground / rocks weakness and Evs are for modest tox, so that should 100% be mentioned.) Arcanine is commonly run on balance and hyper offense teams, so its partners can range from defensive Pokemon like Milotic and Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro, who can handle the special attackers Arcanine struggles with like Mismagius, Inteleon, and Kilowattrel and appreciate Arcanine switching into Decidueye and Heracross for them, to offensive Pokemon like Paldean Tauros-W and Zoroark that can wear down shared checks like Milotic and Bellibolt, paving the way for Arcanine to clean with Extreme Speed late-game unopposed.
(Would 100% mention some form of hazard control for Arc is needed from offensive spinners like aslash / tastu to more defensive defoggers like altaria)
